Zois are usually pretty easy to groom! They shed a lot, but since the fur isn't as thick as with many other long haired breeds (like rough collies), it's easy to get all the way to the bottom. The long hair on the neck and the back of the back legs tend to tangle, so I'd recommend brushing those parts weekly to bi-weekly, but the rest of the fur isn't usually easy to tangle. I brush my boy properly only once a month (except for the mentioned neck and back legs I do at least twice a month) and he doesn't develop tangles in that time. Brushing him doesn't take long either.

Small correction: According to our breed history from Russian and Ukraine, Borzoi descend from a "Saluki-type hound that was crossed with a native Russian breed" in order for them to survive the harsh Siberian winters. :) Our first breed standard was written in the mid-1600's, but unfortunately a lot of the records detailing pedigrees were lost during the fall of the last Czar. So we are still in the process of piecing the history of the Borzoi back together.
That sounds interesting. Would you recommend any works or texts about those early breed standards? I've always wondered why the usual history you find on the internet is so limited.
@@Lorrdd The information that has been gathered by breed historians (who are from all over the world, by the way) from both Russian and Ukrainian kennels about this breed far predates anything that's happening now. WE trust the information because of the evidence that has been gathered and verified.
Borzois!!! My aunt used to show these and I grew up around them. Never were they mean, never did they bite. Even as a crazy kid, they would just put up with me or stick by my aunt when I was being annoying. These dogs are absolutely amazing and such wonderful family members.
I'm 71 and I've only seen one Borzoi in my life. He looked quite a bit like Channing and I got to pet him. His name was Ivan and he was a sweet and laid back boy.
So glad to see a sighthound on your channel! We have an ex-racing greyhound. They make the most amazingly lazy family pets. While show dogs are treated amazingly well, greyhound racing needs to end. As my wife said to me earlier today "They are born for speed, but they are also born for sleep".

When you are majestic and know it bit there's no arrogance just elegance. What a beautiful dog. I bet his squirrel chase is done with elegance.
No arrogance?! They're RUSSIAN!
Ah, and here I already started to worry from not seeing a single ra
@@PredatoryQQmber the only good Russian 😉
He looked like quite the little business man with that tie. It was adorable. Stay safe and stay awesome 💜
Such a beautiful, graceful dog. I've never seen one in real life and can only imagine how good that fur feels while petting one.
What a beautiful dog, must of been such an honor to be able to groom such a champion.
I once saw a clip of a borzoi trotting into a room and sniffing at a litter of puppies. She's so graceful in her movements, like a ballerina doggo.
He is the most noble, chill dog.
You can see into his soul with those lovely eyes.
I've got hair envy.
That is royalty, what grace he possesses. Observe him as he strolls.
His coat flows like water when he runs ~ awesome 🐾❤️🌸
Thanks for doing a sighthound! Generally gentle, loving dogs.
HE IS GLORIOUS
Very impressive! And you can tell that Channing is used to being pampered at the salon. He's so well behaved.
So I was not far from it's origing when I saw this dog and though it had saluki's characteristics, interesting!
Yeaaaa because we should trust ANY information coming out of Russia, the scummiest terrorist state on Earth.
@@Lorrdd The information that has been gathered by breed historians (who are from all over the world, by the way) from both Russian and Ukrainian kennels about this breed far predates anything that's happening now. WE trust the information because of the evidence that has been gathered and verified.
holy shit borzoi lore
Borzois!!! My aunt used to show these and I grew up around them. Never were they mean, never did they bite. Even as a crazy kid, they would just put up with me or stick by my aunt when I was being annoying. These dogs are absolutely amazing and such wonderful family members.
Beautiful!! I fostered over 26 greyhounds straight off the track and I absolutely love their body stance. Borzois are just as beautiful 😍
This is my all time favorite breed. Big, gentle snoots basically. I love them so much! Win the affection of a Borzoi and you’ve got it made.
didnt i do it for you? didnt i do it for you? kermie?

I click’d on this video with full intention of commenting the same thing.. 😂

What a gorgeous dog and their owner must be so proud. You can tell he is very much loved. Thank you for sharing!
I'm 71 and I've only seen one Borzoi in my life. A man and his family were walking one down the street and I stopped dead in my tracks and asked "is that a Borzoi" and he said "you're the first person who knew what breed he is". He looked quite a bit like Channing and I got to pet him. His name was Ivan and he was a sweet and laid back boy.
You sound like a very nice person 😁 I have never personally met a borzoi but I really want to 😄
These dogs are so beautiful that it made me cry.
I really thought you said "a horse to be reckoned with" when U introduced Channing, and I loved it! He's beautiful. Have a great Christmas GWtD fam xo
So glad to see a sighthound on your channel! We have an ex-racing greyhound. They make the most amazingly lazy family pets. While show dogs are treated amazingly well, greyhound racing needs to end.
As my wife said to me earlier today "They are born for speed, but they are also born for sleep".
That boy is so proud of his accomplishments
I love how you educate your audience about all the different breeds you groom. I love dogs, but I have only owned one in my life. This dog was gorgeous. I had never heard of that particular breed. Thanks so much for all you do. Cheers from 🇺🇸
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
He has a heart on his side 🥺
"Leeetmeeedoitforyuuuu"
I just seen this clip, but I can't unhear the memes already
he looks like a cloud when he's prancing. what a majestic creature.
What a handsome boy! So glad he's a happy pupper 😊
he is absolutely precious!!! borzois are my most favorite breed they’re just so adorable and elegant
Elegant & noble....canine royalty
What a beautiful boy! I can imagine the speed when they chase..
How magnificent! First time I've seen more than still photo. The very definition of poetry in motion. Thank you and his owners for letting us see him!
Met one who was a working dog, wow ! Great attitude in these pooches !
While I have only seen this breed of dog on televised dog shows, they are beautiful and majestic!
Beautiful dog, love how his coat floats with him!!
It is a high compliment to your skills that you are trusted with such a celebrity doggo. I raised two pedigree afghan hounds many years ago. I would adore befriending a pair of borzoi, so beautiful.
I can see why she would be nervous! It's like being hired to detail a Ferrari.
Beautiful! I have enjoyed seeing two pet borzois at our local dog park. Gorgeous dogs. The elderly one recently passed and is greatly missed.
I love Borzois so much! They’re so pretty!
I love the dogs with long snouts- 💀
He's a beautiful sweet boy. Thanks for sharing him with us!
You're a genius by the way, building this platform to a level where people want their fur family (and fur colleagues if they're working or show dogs) to be tended by you, and featured on your channel.
Literally everybody wins, it's a wonderful thing, and it means you get to educate (and amuse) more people!
Him posing with all those ribbons: DIDNT I DO IT FOR YOU?
Fun fact: they would do anything you want😃
He did it for you.
@@kinglionex4888 he only do it for you

Like a true champion, he is so demure. Then when it’s time he lets his star shine!!! Thanks for introducing me to this breed and this awesome dog!
Didn't I do it for you.. Kermie 🤣❤love these long boys
i adore horse dogs and i am very happy to see not just any horse-dog, but a very well decorated one. good on you both to finally meet each other!
I always knew how elegant this breed was, but I never knew how large they were! Thank you for showcasing such a beautiful dog today; it was really lovely to see him run in your yard with all that gorgeous hair!❤
There was one at our dogpark a few weeks ago. She was so much taller than a husky and dalmatian that were playing together, they looked like a terrier and a mini-husky. The owner said she was smaller than his male, who was being lazy that day. Gorgeous girl, was kinda fun that she was so elegantly playful with my Aussies, trying to herd her...first time they were ever outmatched.
They are beautiful and majestic. The lightening speed is accurate. Had the privilege to know on in the 1980s...absolutely elegant.
Very distinguished gentleman, loved the ear perk at the end
