    I love Carlin not because he makes me roll on the floor laughing but because of how he makes me think. He’s truly brilliant. He’s a lot like Rock in that way.

      @@willvr4 Yeah, Carlin's comedy is almost like an intense form of amusement captivating you to see it through til the end. He doesn't really say anything shocking to make your mind hit an exclamation mark, so I've not really laughed out loud from him, but I do still love it.

      I liked that early especially but later in his career it wasn't really funny even at ALL. I'm afraid Dave Chappelle is going that route. He's not really making comedy as we get deeper in his career he's mostly using his stand up as like a platform to just say what he thinks. Almost like what podcasts are nowadays but before it was a thing. That bugged me about the late Carlin specials was it was all about just his perception of things, the jokes were ancillary.

    • @BP-or2iu
      @BP-or2iu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djjazzyjeff1232 Chappelle has essentially moved that way. It’s enjoyable to listen to but it’s not particularly funny.

    If I remember correctly the list started in the early to mid 70s and the first time he did the 7 words bit durring a live broadcasted special in Milwaukee Wisconsin he was arrested after the show. The police were supposed to arrest him when he started the bit but the officers refused to intrupt he show. The story goes as he was being handcuffed the officer or maybe the chief of police I can't remember. Apologized to Carlin for having to arrest him. Carlin thanked him for waiting tell the end of the show. He then asked him if he like the show? The cop's reply was it was the funniest fucking thing he'd ever heard.

    There was a case about this routine that went to the US Supreme Court. A radio station aired this routine in the early afternoon, in apparent violation of regulations of the Federal Communications Commission which banned certain adult material from the airways in non-prime time evening hours. The station's broadcast license was in jeopardy. Carlin, himself, was not involved the case. I know that the station lost the case, but I can't remember whether it lost its' license or only had to pay a fine and promise never to sin again.

Example: you can say "he's a dick," but you can't say anything about "HIS dick." I will never forget how my jaw hit the floor back in the aughts when I heard Dennis Franz on "NYPD Blue" call someone a pussy. It's funny how you can say more dirty things on television than ever before, and yet somehow their profanity regulations seem to be more asinine than ever.
