I remember watching videos on how to sword fly back in the day and I've been doing it for I dont know how long maybe 12 or 13 years but I still need to watch this if I haven't played in a long time
Dude thanks a lot! i have been looking up so many videos on how to sword fly and all they say is to press y and then rt really fast.i looked on your video and i slowed down the video and saw that you were pressing y,x,rt in that order super fast, i did it and it worked! finally!
I feel the X button doing odd stuff is linked to how reloading is coded in this game. Perhaps the X button does some kind of action cancel, intended for interrupting what you're doing in order to begin reloading, but this action cancel can be done anytime, allowing for the famed BX spamming and, of course, the swordflying glitch.
You don't have to hold any buttons down, I usually hold down the right trigger out of habit but you don't have to. Just hit them once and you are fine.
Y, Right Trigger doesn't work for scoped flies, so in that sense it is not easier. I doubt there is another method besides this. You definitely need to change weapons and "fire" with the sword, so the only thing that can be different is what buttons you press inbetween. I'm pretty sure only X can be pressed inbetween Y and Right Trigger.
If you have the non already patch updated one and play on an xbox 360 but you got the patch on xbox live you still do it by: 1. going to the dash board 2. go to sysem settings then memory device 3. go to where you save halo 2 and delete game data (not the game the file on the game named that cuz thats the patches name) i hope this helped somone
@Comando52Colton Thanks for posting that. I forgot to put that in my description box. I'm going to update it soon with that info. I just assumed everyone knew how to uninstall the update, silly me.
@xXStormtrooper117Xx Nope, it's not. Halo 2 Vista has the "Xbox Live update" for the Xbox version already patched in, if that makes sense. Kind of like if you buy games from Steam, they are already patched versus if you buy the original PC games (which would then require updates).
Yes, but you will have to lose all of your saved game data, back it up if you can. To downgrade, you need to go into your Xbox console and delete all of the Halo 2 saved game files. This will delete the update (in addition to your save files) and you will be able to fly. If you're good at the game, you can run through the game in under two hours on easy mode to unlock all the levels again. The only really time-consuming ordeal you will go through again is re-downloading the maps eventually.
@scurty2 Well i got halo 2 with my xbox normal so would that version of the game be patched? But i cant play itt on my normal xbox cause i lent it to a friend :/
@MrHUGH37 No versions of the Xbox Halo 2 are patched. If you download the Xbox LIVE update for Halo 2 then you cannot sword fly. If you've never gone on Xbox LIVE for Halo 2, then you don't have the update installed and can sword fly.
If you play on Xbox live, the update is installed. Easy as that. The only way to get rid of the update is to delete everything from Halo 2 from the Xbox Dashboard.
I tried this once with a rocket launcher and it worked but i did it with rocket but it didnt work idk what im doing wrong, also when i do sniper it doesnt work either... help please!
You just need to make sure you are hitting the buttons in the correct order. Slide your thumb for the Y to X transition, and then hit the right triger button. Try to have it sound like mine in the video. And if you have done this once before, I assume you don't have any online updates installed. Practice with the rocket launcher and then move onto other weapons, the sniper is trhe hardest of all weapons to fly with.
A small TV is superior to a big screen always. Unfortuneately I'm stuck with a 60" for the summer. And, yes, you have to press X, as states in the video description.
@KingdomHerts1 I'm pretty sure that whatever version you have already has the update installed, as the PC versions came out after that Xbox Live update. You can try it for yourself, but it probably on't work. The buttons you press are: (Change weapon), (reload/cancel), (Fire). You need to press them as quickly as I do in the video. I'm almost willing to bet you won't be able to do it because it is patched. Good luck though!
Do you have updates from Xbox Live installed on your Xbox? If so, you cannot do the sword fly, you must erase all data for Halo 2 (to get rid of the updates). This will erase your saved files as well. If you don't have updates installed, try using the rocket launcher, it's the easiest weapon to sword fly with. And I can guarantee you that it works, I'm not the only person that has done this trick, MANY others have.
i cant get it to work can you make another video explaining how do do it more thoroughly bcuz i cant get it to work and oh name it "halo 2 why cant i sword fly"
@cheeseboy18788 Dude, did you even WATCH the video or READ the description, of which has several paragraphs telling EXACTLY what to do? I understand the video is in real time and the buttons are pressed really fast, but if you would just read the description, all the information you need is there. The video just helps visually to see what is going on. I can't make it any clearer than this...
@MrHUGH37 Yeah, I know LIVE got canceled, but if you had the LIVE update installed in the past to go online, then you still have it. You need to go into your Xbox/Xbox 360 harddrive and delete your Halo 2 game data. This will erase all of your game profiles, so you need to start from scratch again to play the later levels, but it's not too bad.
@rikard1414 H2V already has an update patched into the game and there is no way to remove it. As a result, you cannot sword fly in that version of the game. Sorry.
Do you have the online updated installed? You can't sword fly with the update on, you need to remove it. If the update is off, you just need to practice more, it's not an easy trick.
I had a capture card at the time but I used a video camera to capture my hands for this video, so yes, you can hear me using the controller. If it was a capture card recording, you wouldn't be able to hear me.
I stay sword flying in the air using Y,X,RT... But only without a scope. Its quite impossible for me to do it like this... Oh btw people, YXRT is easier. If you use YRT then you'll have a 70% chance of not getting it the first 2 or 3 times. And i think its easier to do it with one hand (thats the only way you could stay in air while sword flying duh)
@sparbitan117 Directly behind where I sword fly from is a room with the sword. Just look up Sword on Outskirts into Google, I'm sure you'll find a site that tells you where. Alternatively, activate the Thunderstorm skull and grab a sword from an elite early on in the courtyard.
@xXStormtrooper117Xx u may want to buy the xbox 360 controller for pc and it will work. i've tried it. it is very fun in multiplayer as i could see a lot of shocked Elite/Spartarn faces!! lol! >
Nayim Hussain on the emulated version? Which is just the original disk Yes it does. You must be on version 1.0 by deleting your data on your storage device

You in Prison Bro?
Yeah, I was locked in my parents basement for like 5 years. I escaped though and am living on my own now :D
Get an Xbox one and master chief collection
+Chase carter I have both but I'm not a fan of MCC. really bad for speedrunning.
How old were you when you posted this lol
+Chase carter About 18 I think. So either at the end of high school or beginning of college.
What's with the guitar hero at 49 seconds for about a milisecond
well, you're L so you should be able to figure it out

For a comment that’s five years old 😂

Thanks youtube for recommending me this masterpiece
Great logic, the world would be a better place if it were filled with people like you.
i wish i was playing halo 2 rn
This trick makes Halo 2 Original Speedrunning alot of fun. Very Satisfying to watch people do it too.

It cancels the animation of pulling a weapon out
So thats how Johnson made it off the ring
The best halo joke ever 😂
Deserves to be in halo archives 😅
X button is pressed to cancel a melee attack. So in this glitch it is used so you that when you fly towards the enemy you don't kill them
Here I am in 2022 because I never took the time to learn how to sword fly. I feel like I’m in a time machine with the gaming setup.

Thank you for this educational video

man 12y shiit... long time ago, tell me if you are still here, you going to play Halo Infinite?
Look at the TV he’s playing on, isn’t that crazy

Not for 2008

If you play on Xbox live, the update is installed. Easy as that. The only way to get rid of the update is to delete everything from Halo 2 from the Xbox Dashboard.
only if u get the update if u dont have it it still works
can this even be done anymore, because you can't log into xbox live anymore on halo 2 as of may 10 2010.

@KingdomHerts1 This doesn't work on Halo 2 Vista. Only the original Xbox version (no Xbox Live updates).
hey dude im having trouble with this lol i press yx and rt but nothing happens im pretty sure its real cus it shows u doing but idk i cant do it
Yes, just make sure the online update is not installed.
It's very possible to use YRTYRT instead of YXRT. I use YRTYRT often because it's easier to do with one hand than YXRT.
@scurty2 Ah well i went on just before it normal xbox live got cancelled so i do have the update but i can just delete that cant i?
