For 60 fps stuff: All info is accurate for console and PC *with* VSync. If you cap at 60 fps but do not have VSync on, the fly timing will be inconsistent and fluctuate between 1 and 2 tick and give randomness in your flies. TLDR: If you are capping at 60 fps you should use VSync

When I was a kid, I was able to do this with y trigger trigger y. Of course the success rate was very low, but it made it all the more satisfying. I still remember playing lan with my friends and we all just mass sword fighter using the zipline glitch. Good times

Haven't learned how to sword fly yet but I can do this fairly well, I tend to just have a bit of momentum towards where I want to go and I aim a bit over the enemy's shoulder or something. Generally I get the best range when I'm at the peak of the red reticle range. Easier enemies to do it on are deffinetly sentinels you get the bottom left or bottom right of your reticle just barely touching them while moving towards it a bit you zoom right past them.
fun thing you can actually splatter jackals on Easy using sword flying and canceling. It will kill the jackal and give you a splatter medal and not consume battery although its pretty much useless
When I used to run it on the original version I could sword fly so easily and consistently but on the MCC version I’m so bad at it. The 60fps really makes it so much harder
Hello. I can't seem to hit even one on controller, on pc I can pretty consistently 70/80% of the time. Does the holding Y and pressing b and right trigger work? Or do I have to individually tap each key? I'd wanna be able to hit them on controller
Lol, I've done SFing since 2004 but I've always used switch and trigger. I had no idea the reload counted so much, thank you. Mostly what I'm noted for in SFing is long range swordflying using a vehicle. I've done instruction vids on that but they are lost in time so it would be awesome if you would break down just what long distance flying is. It's is a lunge but the physics are much different. In an LDS flight you can change speed and angle. you can also aim away from your target and fly but there is about a 30 degree area, 15 degrees on either side of the target and in that 30 degree range you will be compelled to fly at the target. You can also change direction with the RL or Fuel Rod. There's a lot more that may or may not interest you but I've always wanted it broken down and you are the only guy that can do it atm. This has nothing to do with speedruns but the average player can really enjoy an LDS.

I'm failing to make it work long range. I believe I'm doing it within 10m successfully, but beyond that no lunge happens. Must the crosshair be directly on an enemy? or is the crosshair simply being red sufficient?
I did the sword fly thing by accident when I was fighting the boss fight with that red elite dude but the thing is I had the energy gun as my primary and some how I still flew
It does indeed, unfortunately I forgot to mention it in this video but off-host co-op sword flying is very easy in comparison. I dont know the exact timing but the buttons can be ~0.5 second separated as off-host co-op player
there was a ghost recon game i used to play and my laptop was so bad that if i was running the game and google chrome it would spawn less enemies, which i may have taken advantage of
Yeah, scoped flying isn't working for me & I'm literally hitting reload(B) & shoot(RT) as I'm releasing weapon switch(Y). Like, taking my thumb off of Y & hitting B in the same motion/moment.
sword fly while zoomed in is so hard, i can get it pretty consistently without zoom with a rocket launcher but not being able to zoom in a sniper rifle and doing it kinda negates all this effort, ugh
So I don't know how this is possible, but I've never had to press X to initiate the sword fly, only Y+R. I just tested it again to make sure my memory wasn't fuzzy, and it worked. As for timing, there's a very short moment during the animation for swapping weapons where the reticle of the previous weapon remains on screen; that's when I press R. I actually have less success using the YXR method you showed because now there's another button I have to worry about. Any thoughts?
Y->R only works when you arent scoped in - it is not very useful for speedrunning where this video is focused. I cover this at 14:15 and I explain why I havent focused on that method in the previous chapter at 12:30
So how would I voluntarily fly over an enemy who moves during the fly? Would his movement force a mid-air stop or can I do something to negate that and keep my momentum and move forward?
I'm having trouble preventing mid-air stops, especially when starting from a scoped weapon. Jumping, reloading, switching weapons, all approaches lead to inconsistent results. Most of the time, the stop occurs anyway. How do I consistently fly over enemies without stopping?
dubhzo The problem is the mid air stop DOES happen when I don’t want it to. I am starting to get more consistent fly-over if I push the reload button the moment I engage the macro, but it won’t work if I push reload mid-flight.

Yes, just YBR instead. If you're on Xbox you can change your controller layout on the dashboard to switch X and B if you wish to allow sword flying with YXR on bumper jumper, this is what WR holder Rocats does

please tell me macros are banned for submitting runs. It would be unfair for people like me or you big boy pros who practiced it for hours to have that all go to the trash bin because people can just put on macros and get it easy every time with no skill.
@@Granola_cat its really hard. You have one frame on mcc to put the button combinstion in. The best way to do it is to slide your finger from Y to X and then press R as fast as possible.
Given that your armor is named mjolnir it's kinda funny that the way you fly is by having a sword pull you through the air lol

Question: I've got a 75 Hz Monitor and I'm using VSync/Uncapped Framerate (So 75 FPS in-game) Is my fly timing also inconsistent?

Joking aside, how do ppl do that thing where they activate the sword lunge close to enemy but instead of hitting enemy they fly past enemy.
You press reload as soon as you lunge and aim away from the enemy at the same time.

I accidently hit the 2 input fly yesterday while butterfly meleeing to get used to it
