    Oh well done. I was looking for the exact thing for my table saw . Now to see if I can get my wiring right

    The reason why the soft starter needs to go entirely on the switched side is that if it's on the input side it's permanently energised, which defeats its ability to function as a soft-starter.
    Just re-ran the intro again, Scott sure gets around doesn't he? :-).

      Yep, that's a good reason, but knowing me, I probably left a connection dangling,🤪

    The specs for this part says it's 12 amp capacity. I have a DW-745. They are rated at 20 amps. This module does not provide sufficient amperage for the saw.

    • @beetleb1801
      @beetleb1801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are rated at 20 Amps if your input voltage is 110 Volts (USA). Seeing as this gentleman seems to be British, he would be running 240 Volts (same as here in Australia). That means they are rated at about half that Amperage for 240 Volt power.

    Man.... I bet it hurts to get zapped by 240VAC . 120V is bad enough. Thanks for showing this. Need a couple of these myself.

      not too bad actually, you guys up the amperage instead I recon.

      ~230 will likely stop your heart, which will usually start from a dead stop. 120v will more likely bugger up the heart rhythm requiring a defib.

    Will I loose warranty if i add such a module?

    Can you make a detailed video how to install this. I want to do this to my table saw. Thanks

    Deze "softstarter"kan gebruikt worden tot en met 2500Watt dus 2.2kW mag geen probleem zijn!

    Hi have just got the same module your video is not that clear what colour wire from the module goes to what colour wire on the saw i think i might have it but does the black module wire go the the brown wire you say hgoes to a thurmal fuse then up to the black wire.
    If you could help it would be great
    thanks

      soft start module goes in series from the switch output to the motor
      the wires on the module are:
      brown - input A (connect using output from pin, 14 brown wire on saw from factory)
      black - output B (connect to brown wire, which you took off, and replaced with the input of the module.
      blue - neutral C (connect in parallel to an existing neutral)
      hope this helps.

    Wait… isn’t the dw745 a 15amp saw? That module is rated for 12 amps, isn’t that an issue?

    • @beetleb1801
      @beetleb1801 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if your operating voltage is 240 Volts. I'm in Australia and our household voltage is 240 volts. My DW745 will run from a standard 10 Amp outlet. Given that this guy is British, he would be running 240 Volts.

    Do you know if it is possible to add soft start to a miter saw? let's say a DeWalt dws779 if that helps, thanks in advance, great video good info.

    • @allanwalker5305
      @allanwalker5305  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think it would be possible, but you might have more difficulty in placing the module inside the saw, than i did with the table saw.

    Hi! I have the Dwe7492 saw, and was baffled it (at higher cost than Bosch 10 XC saw) did not boast neither a soft start nor a contant speed feature, like the less expensive Bosch.
    The Dwe7492 does have a power-loss-to-off-state feature though. Will this impair the use of the makita soft start component in your opinion?

    • @allanwalker5305
      @allanwalker5305  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't think so, mine also has a power loss to off (fail safe), and it works fine.
      Bosch make some very good machines, I chose the DeWalt for the price to cut width ratio.

    Whatever you do, dont tell us where you bought it

      google the part number, then choose the relevant supplier for your region of the world, I'm in France, the shop i bought it from would be of little use for you.
      Whatever you do, don't expect me to do your homework for you.
