      I used the item numbers as identified in the video. I found that the module was listed for sale on Amazon (Germany). It took about a week to arrive, but installed painlessly. I had never used Amazon (Germany) to purchase anything, but it was easy to do. I could not find the part anywhere else, but an appropriate soft start module shouldn't be too hard to source. Hope that helps.@@ginoasci2876

    I have been using my DWE7491rs for over 2 yrs all the while bitching about the hard starts. Had no idea I could add a soft start module. Amazing! I did add a 1' x 3" x 36" aluminum box extrusion to the fence which drastically helps the lead in and out of the cut on this saw. Awesome tip, great video that should be included in the manuals...lol!

    I might have a newer version of the saw, it has screws on the front and they have made the cover smaller so it cant fit the soft start unit inside the box. i made slots on the side for the wires and installed the ss unit outside the box. Thanks for providing a detailed guide, it got me to do this mod.

    Seems great. Does this cause the saw to generate a lower peak load on the power grid? (Prevents the fuse to blow?)

    • @4570Govt
      @4570Govt ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A soft start mechanism applies voltage in a gradual way, hence "soft start". Flipping a simple on/off power switch allows the motor to draw huge amounts of power at startup, which can lead to tripping breakers/circuits due to this peak draw(short but massive). Analogy: think of comparing drag racing vs a slower but gradual acceleration to the same peak speed. This slower acceleration method puts less strain on the motor and components than punching the gas pedal when drag racing. The internal components on these jobsite saws are NOT designed for maximum tool life, but to do a job for a particular length of time. Some of us(likely you as well, seeing you're here) are interested in maximizing the lifespan of a tool purchase, so adding one of these modules can assist in extending that tools lifespan.

    • @royster3345
      @royster3345 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A 1.5mm wire is rated for 14amp (conservative figure), a 3000w motor draws about 13amp, don't know what motor is fitted to this table saw but doubt anywhere near 3000w.

    • @KarlMiller
      @KarlMiller 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@royster3345I was thinking about the soft-starter module. It is rated for 16 amp on Aliexpress. 14ga wire is only rated for 15amps continuously, so the device would require 12ga wire to allow for the 16 amp device rsting. 12ga wire has a 2.62mm diameter and those wires do not appear to be 12ga wires, which means it is not manufactured to match its advertised rating which means it is unsafe even if that particular saw won't cause it to catch on fire.

    My wires are on the other side. What do I do?

      My wall wires and motor wires are interchanged meaning blue plug wire is on 33 and motor blue wire is on 34. Brown plug wire on 13 and brown motor wire on 14. Should I follow yours?

    Where did you buy this soft start. And what type of male & female connector did you use.

    I also bought this but I am a little concerned. The cables running from the module are 0.75mm (so thin). The amp rating for 0.75 gauge cable is max 6amp. This will be running a table saw that uses well over 6 amp. I am going to see if I can replace the wires myself with at least 1.5mm ones. I am at al means no electrician, but have installed electric wiring before. As far as I know running heavier amps on such a thin cable can cause overheating of the wire and possible electric fire. I don’t want thatvin my shop. What do you think? Anyone here more knowledgeable about electricity that can give some feedback? Maybe I am exaggerating, but better safe then sorry!

    why not install this in a power strip instead, that way you can move it around to different devices if needed?

    • @Ajzer85
      @Ajzer85 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because of the way the module works. Once it get power it ramps up the current in stages up to full power. If you put it in a cord or powerstrip it will go to max power and stay there as long as it's connected, unless you start and stop the machine by pulling the cord/strip and that is a fire hazard. In a powerstrip with on-off switch you could, I guess, but it could damage some equipment not suitable for unstable current. Also, switches like that are not made to safely disconnect heavy inductive loads like a tablesaw and might arc-weld itself.

    • @GoatZilla
      @GoatZilla 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ajzer85 I mean put the soft start downstream of the switch inside the power strip itself. If the soft start is doing its job, it shouldn't arc weld when turning the device on, although I guess it might do it when trying to turn off.
      Maybe the alternate would be to build it into a foot switch extension cord since those should be designed to switch full loads.

    For everyone that received a soft start module with different arrangement of colours and letters, follow the wiring directions in the video for the letters, don't follow the colours.

    Nice! Thanks! I tried to install soft start module for my DeWalt DWE7492-QS by using your manual and it works fantastically! 🤪👍
    The biggest difficulty was to unplug connectors, they are plugged very tightly but after playing with this I managed to do this 🙂

    Dewalt table saws are rated at 20 amps. That module is insufficient amperage for a Dewalt table saw

    • @ethlo
      @ethlo ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, this is a DWE7492 which is the European model using 230V. So 2,000w at 230v is only 8.7 amps. And even when using the US 120 volt, it is still only 16.6 amps, which should be fine.

    In reality Dewalt is not concerned with supplying a TOP bench saw: -The internal dust insulation has been changed, even so the machine releases a lot of dust. - It's a noisy machine. - The consumer does not have the option to buy this machine at 127 volts. - No disc brake - Goniometer with clearance. - There is no flange size option, plastering the consumer to buy cutting discs of another size (should come shaft hole flanges of other disc sizes as an accessory). - The cutting edge is out of adjustment. - The angle adjustment knob is too hard as well as unreliable. - Does not fit 254 mm disc, only 250 mm. When starting and stopping the engine, strangely "spark". DISAPPOINTMENT! The industries, such as Bosch, Makita, Dewalt etc. it is the same disrespect towards the consumer. Adilson you're right! Enough of watching videos from TH-camrs running their hands over the heads of the saw manufacturers just to beg and beg a shut up and in favor of GARBAGE!!!!!!! People who keep selling themselves to the manufacturers of saws and tools in exchange for "jabá". The reality is one, for tool manufacturers, we are considered third class consumers, not to mention the lack of safety and quality! We cannot and must not accept these equipment and tools without quality, safety and respect for others, it is the lack of maturity prevailing at the expense of reasonableness, common sense, ethics, safety and respect! We cannot accept that we Brazilians are treated as third-class consumers, denying us and making us have to consume products without quality. We don't have to accept what the manufacturers want to sell us and push down our throats, precarious, limited machines, which fall short of our needs. Today, the market has a lack and need for portable saws with better quality, as well as features and safety. This "little chat" and the justification of the industries that these machines are for construction sites only serves to relieve them of launching better saws. Year after year the so-called "releases" and or "new" do not have effective advances and improvements. It is the same as always, the accommodation of industries. What really changes is just price, always more expensive, without significant effective improvements for the consumer!
