  • Spraying crop is the second most important operation after planting. Weeds grow fast and quickly overtake crops greatly reducing yield and creating a mess for harvest. Thanks to advancements in herbicide we can selectively remove weeds from our crops without damage. Moving PEAS, moving manure, moving chemical!

To make the most of ground clearance take your climbs at an angle to help get the most of your suspension. You should also do the same when crossing a ditch or whatever so you have good contact. When are we going to see the repair on the Bud that had trouble during planting? You are making spraying great again. Lol. One of the most boring jobs but you guys keep it interesting. Thanks Welkers!

" 1400 acres today, that's not bad" Arrrrrggggg. Grew up dairy farming in Southern Ontario.
It took approximately 15 years of farming to say I hit 1400 acres on any one operation.
But then that's one of the reasons I love what Nick and company do. Because it's different than what I am used to.

any heavy equipment (excavators, backhoes, dozers, etc.) really because of weight, stubborn fittings, etc.; especially when they're in the mud all the time and fittings get clogged or rusty.

12:50 you can pull the handle out to check how full it is. There is a pin or tang on the handle rod so at one position it will slide in and out with ease, quarter turn and it can be used to push the air out. Also when changing the tube, unscrew it before pulling the rod so you don't pull the grease out of the head. It will prime right up.

I am still an addicted - and binge watching - fairly new subscriber. Just want to add that I really love the way you guys treat each-other, your wives and your children and everyone else ! You guys set a truly great example for all of us. As the old saying goes, "You better be nice to the people you meet on the way up the ladder - or - you're going to meet them again on the way back down." Thank you so much for all you do and the great example you all set - oh yes - and - for all of your wonderful sense of humor and humility along the way. Now that truly is awesome! God bless you , and may all your harvests be meaningful and full of bounty!

Instead of an automated greaser, you should get a bucket pump. They have them here in Europe for exactly the same reason you mentioned, knowing exactly how much grease you put inside (there's an adjustment knob). I'm not sure who makes them, i've seen them from different companies, and pointless since you're in US, but those are really nice to use, especially because they have those big tall wheels, so they don't care about mud when you pull them around.
On my brother's farm there's 4 of them in total in the different corners, two are from SKF, look up LAGT 18-50 and you'll find it, and the other two are from Samoa, but they're too old and they don't show up on their websites anymore (those are really nice).

Hey Nick talking about grease gun at work we had one with a one hand trigger handle like the one you picked up.. We prefer to use classic grease pumps with the straight handle with a reinforced pipe they last so much longer... And for people who grease many machines you can get battery powered grease guns that take grease cartridges. It speeds up greasing and makes life easier. :-)

The helicopter flying about reminded me of the first time visiting the Cambridge sales ground with my Uncle & dad. There were a lot of Suttons in Cambridgeshire and he programmed the wrong one in the navigation. We had to end up landing in a bald patch in an arable field in a desert camo helicopter while my dad and I switched seats as he couldn't read the map, we checked the map, worked out the location and where the sales ground was. We were about 10-15 miles out couldn't miss it when we got close.

3:53 That one weed you plucked out right there can be eaten. Just grab enough of them, remove the roots, and wash the leaves, then toss them in with your salad, though they do add bitterness that should be offset by a creamy Ranch or Caesar dressing. They're also sold as "Field Greens".

On a grease gun if you pull the rod down when it's loaded however far it goes down is how much grease is left in the gun! It's kinds crazy that most people don't know that lol.when I work I'm forestry my machine had to be greased 3 times a day and each time it took just about tubes of grease! There was 2 zerks that took a tube I'm each one! It was all done with a Manuel Grease gun because we didn't want any air in the system and for many zerks we needed to count from 50 to 250 pumps! Also out of 6 different battery powered grease guns, not one brand ever lasted more than 2 days without burning up! After 2 months of doing that 3 times a day I could best any electric gun!

Wild oats can stay dormant in the soil for 12 years. When I grew Broad beans in Portugal however, we came across a parasite called Orabanka that lives in clay soils. It only affects Leguminous crops and can stay dormant in the soil for 50 years. It uses the crop plant as a host, grows another stem from the base to develop a series of flowers and kills the host in the process. Our Broad bean crop was a total loss after looking great at the pod setting stage. Be glad you don't have this fungus in you soil.

That semi water trailer you have couldn't you rig up a float system and park it by the shack and let it fill while you're out spraying Nick. I had a float deal that I got from the local hardware store and mounted it to the stock tank and hooked it up to the garden hose of the house, this way you don't have to stop and you don't have to worry about it running over. Nick do you have button weeds in Montana. Our main weeds in Our corn and soybeans are sunflowers and button weeds and gypsum weed, and wild pot grows in the ditches.

I know of one farmer who ended up putting some ground into pasture because of wild oats. Plowed it up after 40 years, last 10 years of no cattle. Seeded wheat after plowing and the wild oats came up thicker than a plugged nostril. No wild oats was growing in the previous 10 years is why he decided to try cropping it again. So....wild oats can sit in the ground a long time and still come back. Just like sin that's buried.
