I'm now seventy and remember as a child of seven laughing at the seagulls routines and other funny stuff he did and impersonating him. May God grant him peace. Truly great comedians are a rare breed.
We came from Greece in 1956 understand or speak English we had a TV and watch the Red Skelton Show even though we did not know how to speak the language we understood especially when he used to say good night and may God bless great man a great comedian no one is ever top him rest in peace😊
I saw him in the 1990's in a two hour concert, one joke after another! No cue cards, no scripts, just all from his heart. An amazing performance for a man in his 80's. The two hours was simply, too short! God Bless you Red. RIP ✝🙏

He was given so much talent it’s amazing! Comedian, entertainer, symphony writer, painter and a book writer! His clown paintings are considered some of the best ever done and were sold in galleries around the world! What an extraordinary human being!
I had the pure by chance opportunity to meet Red in a hotel lobby one Saturday afternoon in New York City in 1971. He was just as cordial and funny. We talked a good two or three minutes, he gave me his autograph, I couldn’t believe it. Growing up we watched him all the time. Needless to say , a super highlight of my short trip to New York. I will NEVER forget it. These videos are so awesome. RIP , RED SKELETON.
I had the privilege of seeing him on his original tv show. Just watched about two hours of his wonderful comedy. Haven’t laughed this hard in a LONG time. Surely God has a special place for him in Heaven!!
Fabulous. The man loved what he did and loved everyone. For a man who experienced much tragedy and loss and still found it in his heart to go on and make people laugh. Thats a true entertainer
It can never ever be more wholesome funny genuine down to earth humor of the dearest man that offers tears of joy that ever lived, "RED SKELTON" Hey, heaven awaits us that know the goodness in life. I salute you precious man as I sat on grandpas' knee Sunday nights.😌

The funniest man that ever lived. God gave him the gift and he showed us what it was. No cursing or fouls words or sexual innuendos. A very special human! RIP…
I was working the front desk at the Holiday Inn in Carbondale, IL. I knew he was due to check in, but he sneaked up on me. I looked up and saw the biggest greenest cigar held in the huge smile of the man himself. When a celebrity checks in in person you always try to get it done asap. So I was fast. He stood at the desk for at least an hour giving me the gifts of his stories. I asked if this story was true, or a skit. He replied it was true. It's time for the next generation to meet the genius of Mr. Red Skelton.
Johnny Carson interviewed Red back in the 80s and Red said he only slept about 3 hours a night. He spent his nights painting clowns on canvas. Some of them were displayed on the show. A multitalented genius with a beautiful, pure heart of gold, loved by the world. Never will there be another like him. Beautiful soul.
That's the best comedy I've heard in years. Brought back many fond memories. I laughed and I cried. These days there aren't such great comedians as there were back then, no need for sex jokes or inapropriete lenguage. It was great clean fun that the whole family could enjoy. I remember my dad and my siblings watching his show as well as Carol Burnett, Sid Ceasor and Hemigene Coca hour and others. They were very enjoyable and no double meaning or bad lenguage was were used. Wish we could get back to that kind of comedy again.
I remember watching "The Red Skelton Show" when I was younger, back in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He and Jack Benny were my favorites. I don't know if you are aware, but he wrote a letter to his wife every day. She collected them and put them into book form. In 1992, she had 1600 leather-bound volumes of his letters, from when he was courting her until that day. He also had to wear metal braces on his legs since the mid-1960's. That may have been his reason to drop weekly television programs from his schedule. He was a wonderful painter, mostly of landscapes and portraits of clowns. In a 1992 interview, he stated that he was still getting Christmas cards addressed to some of his characters, not him personally.
I have loved Red Skeleton since I was a little girl. Watching the Red Skeleton Show at my grandparents house with my pawpaw, grandmother, mom, my two sisters, my mom's brothers on Sundays !!! My paw loved Red Skeleton so much & I loved hearing my paw laugh so hard he cried 😂 !!! That was our family's tradition every Sunday, eat dinner & watch tv shows !!! I miss those days & my family so much !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙂😂🤣
Being 76 and growing watching Red every week was the best time. Not only watching but with the last name Skelton there never was a day that I didn't get asked if I was related to Red.
I can still remember watching Red Skelton when i spent the summer at my Grandparents farm Grandma always had sweet snacks for us 4 Grandkids . Best summer i ever spent. He was the greatest. Thats when comedy was cool. CLEAN comedy.. I was 5 yrs old. wish i coould watch him now for hours
I’ve loved Red ever since I was a boy. He always managed to put a smile 😊 on my face. Bless you Red Skeleton we miss you and can’t wait to see you in Heaven. All day long Yahoo
Red is I’m family tree,, believe he was great grandads cousin but can’t remember.. wish I could’ve at least met him, but think half the families humour has come from trying to keep up with him!!
I'm 62 years old and I remember watching Red Skelton as a child. I remember laughing and thinking how funny he was. I just watched this show and my memories have not deceived me. Mr. Skelton you are still the funniest man I have ever watched. When I talk about watching him as a child it has never failed that whomever I'm talking to remembers watching and laughing at all his skits. It was one of the highlights of my young life to sit down in front of the TV and get to watch him perform. He was so talented and amazing. I think I've seen every one of the shows but I wish reruns would come back on. I definitely would be excited and honored to get to see them again. I love him so much. I Thank him so much for all the laughs he brought me. He will always be remembered. RIP Red Skelton we love you
Im 33 and i remember watching this tape with my dad as a little boy! Any snow day, sick day, or holiday that i had you could bet that this show was going to be playing in the living room. Red was a timeless treasure. It warms my heart now to share this with my own children. I came upon this video while trying to figure out how to play King of the Birdies on guitar, and now it will be a permenant addition to my repertoire. It warms my heart to see comments as recent as yours on such a wholesome and genuinely hilarious classic show. May he rest in peace, and may your glass be always full. Cheers.
I could not have said it any better. He was an amazing person. I got to see him at the Holiday Star Theater in Morrisville, Indiana back in the 90's. He was pretty old at that time and he did an hour and a half show with a break half way thru. He was a delight and joy to have seen.
As a family, we watched him on TV along with the other great comedians. Gratefully appreciated his gentle, old fashioned humor. He seemed to be such a kind-hearted, beautiful soul. If we could only bring back those days..:)
He is the Best! Loved him. Watched his shows all the time. He has so many wonderful talents and a good Loving family man. His music is BEAUTIFUL also. We need more nice people like him that gives us so much laughter. He had heartache yet shared to give us laughter and a happy heart. Bless this wonderful talented man. He deserves Honor and a Medal.
He was a gentle force not to be taken lightly. No cruel jokes at the expense of others and nary a foul word was spoken, just plain old TALENT! What a funny man. I wonder if the angels are laughing at his Guzzler's Gin routine right now? LOL, I like to think they are.
I remember watching the show with my father and he would laugh all the way through the show, and always compliment him, saying he doesn't have to say bad things he is clean and still one of the funniest comedy acts there is, l think he is the best l ever seen, red skeleton. .
I couldn't wait to watch his show when I was a kid. He drew everyone, young and old, into his world of pure, magical, laughter. He was like family that came to visit every Sunday. He still makes me laugh clear down to my belly. I find it all quite poignant.
The thing I take away from all the laughter and the joy from Red's performances, is that his humor came out of a very tough Depression-era childhood; he lost a son to leukemia when he was only a small child; and he lost his wife, early, too I believe. He had his share of heart-ache: but he found the funny side of life and he made others laugh. Funny people are NOT people who don't have heart-aches in their life - sometimes they seem to have more. . .but they get their joy, their energy and their zest for life by making other people laugh. I have been going through some hard things in my life for some years (acrimonious divorce, loss of children due to "parental alienation", severe life-threatening illnesses, unemployment). But you know what? As I go through my day, I ask the grocery store cashier or stock person "wanna hear a joke?" or the coffee barista or the person waiting at the bus stop with me, "hey did you hear the one about. . ." or I am waiting in a long line at the store and a great way to pass the time is to tell someone standing near you a joke. . .you just wouldn't believe how happy people are to have someone make them laugh. One time I was at Costco and a man ahead of me was very upset because he didn't have his debit card with him and was struggling with how to pay his bill. I sidled over to him and said, "Looks like you're having a rough time here. . .would you like to hear a joke?". So I told him a joke or two, and he was SO grateful! So I think Red's best lesson for us is to carry on his legacy of trying to lighten other people's loads - THEIR LAUGHTER gives you joy in return -- you BOTH have more joy because you stepped out, wanting to lift them up. When I feel down and I tell a joke to someone and experience their laughter, you can't believe the difference it makes in me. Actually, it's kind of selfish of me, in a roundabout way, because I ALWAYS feel better making people laugh. . .God bless all of you who love Red, may laughter "bounce back" at you, too.
Thank God for people like you, I worked in retail and I always tried to be sensitive to the situation like you, that is what we are here for, to help one another as best we can.
Even as a kid I knew he was the most talented comedian in the world........ I ponder, these 60+ years later why this planet of billions of people can't produce one more like Red.
I am a retired circus performer and I have known, worked with and/or watched many great clowns. From the incomparable Pio Nock and self made millionaire Capulina to the nearly unknown Tin Tin Lopez and his rival Mario Preciado "Platanazo" each the owner of a small circus. From Henry Crowell who may have been the last vaudevillian to perform to a musical clown I don't know the name of who played somewhere between 20 and 30 different instruments in about 15 minutes. Red Skeleton was the BEST clown I have ever seen.
I loved Red Skeleton as a kid and still do. A great man with a ton of talent. So refreshing not to hear all the filth that we hear from comedians today. We lost a great talent when we lost Red. God rest you our beloved Red.
His show was one of the few that my parents were okay with us kids watching on TV. I loved 😍 his HBO specials. He was very classy, funny 😁 ; I never heard him cuss or I use profanity in his many appearances.
I was down in the doldrums after my husband husbands anniversary of his of being of his going to be with the Lord and I watched red so in London and it changed everything I laughed until I heard thank you red for your amazing show Charlene
This great Man was so loved that after performing live in Baltimore a large diamond ring slipped off Reds hand outside of the venue, it was reported to the police and news stations. The person that found the ring returned it out of respect for Mr. Red Skelton and to meet the great comedian. He is truly missed.
I remember that, he gave a lecture/performance at Towson State college and a Good Samaritan found that ring and Mr. Skelton was truly thankful that it was returned.
I don't remember Red Skelton a lot I used to watch him when I was a little boy he always brought a smile to my face even when he played that Christmas special of him being the hobo he will be dearly missed but I know he's up in heaven making God laugh wherever you are Red Skelton you always brought a smile to my face thank you I love watching all of his old shows I used to have his complete series of shows on DVD of my ex-wife took them I hope she never sold them because they brought back a lot of memories of my childhood because I was born in the 1960s and I was only 5 years old when I first saw him and he made me laugh goodbye Red Skelton from your favorite fan Delbert
Red was the best out there when it took TRUE talent to perform on TV, not like today , there are no veritie shows like the ones we had growing up. LIKE the Red Skelton show or Carol Burnett, Ed Sullivan, Sonny and Cher , Donny and Marie. Now it's all dance contest , singing contests,. Nothing to make you laugh, like they SAY laughter is the best medicine, and Red was the best Doctor!!! THANK YOU RED!! GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL!!!!
@@billcook7504 I agree. There are no comedian, variety shows on tv like before. I watched them all. These talent shows are ridiculous. The talent some good some really bad. Every channel has a dance or singing talent show. One show that l am sick of is the Bachelor shows. They got to get rid of this show
Like a lot on here, I also watched Red Skelton as a kid. My folks and us boys would laugh 'til we near cried. I can remember my folks commenting, way back then, how Red could make people laugh without being or saying anything dirty. It was one of the shows you really looked forward to each week. The world has changed a lot in the past 60 years but boy, could we ever use Red today!!
Marc Mccurdy got that Right I was born in 1955 I’m sure I’ve watched him since Mom & Dad brought me home 🏡 from the Hospital 🏥 when I was Born 🤪 Danger Outrageous Comedian at Play
Red Skelton was such a talented man. He wrote books, made jewelry and was a fantastic comedian. I just loved his show. I still miss him today. Funny that he never used vulgar language or mannerisms but yet he was one of the greatest talents of all time.😊
Holyshit look at the fabulous artistry in the fishermans sketch. Its very physical and the movements at the timing of the music is remarkable. Truely remarkable. M. IL.
Red Skelton was my favorite comedian when i was growing up in the 60's. Never remember ever missing, "The Red Skelton Show",. The movie that Red starred in, "The Fuller Brush Man", was my favorite movie of all time. I miss him.
Red Skelton's composition about "Birdie" is the finest masterpiece equal, or better than any other classic in history of music, such as; "Silent Night", "Somewhere over the rainbow", "Twinkle, Twinkle little star", "London bridge is falling down", etc. Congratulations Red; You are Genius and Gift to Humanity! Thank you for countless hours of "Laughter to Tears".
I found out about red as a kid when someone donated a bunch of his shows vhs to goodwill (where i bought my vhs collection). Ohhh man i would replay them so much. Red skelton, i love lucy, and the 3 stooges will forever be my fav comedic shows/comedians.
I've been looking for this for years! My mom had recorded it on a videotape that I nearly destroyed from watching it too much. Thank you for posting this!
Telling comedic stories through mime. Wonderful! He was a silly, charming and absolutely delightful man. It's a pity that clowns have somewhat gone out of style. For centuries the mummers, Comedia dell'Arte and finally vaudeville carried on the tradition of situational improvisation making people laugh. Red was a tribute to the tradition. It was nice to again laugh with him.
I'm now seventy and remember as a child of seven laughing at the seagulls routines and other funny stuff he did and impersonating him. May God grant him peace. Truly great comedians are a rare breed.

God blessed Red with lots of talents and gifts and he served God with each and everyone!
What a beautiful soul.......................
Just one of the comic geniuses the world needs right now.
Here, here!
A true loving gentle kind man that could make anyone smile. He will always be loved and never forgotten good night Red...

Makes me cry Red is no longer on this earth. He was a wonderful man an comedian. No one will take Red's place. Love you Red always have always will ❤

They got to get rid of this show
there will never be any one like him he had a purple heart .and a good caring person he was love him and all hiis shows and movies

A Gentleman, A Scholar, and one very funny man. Red We your Fans miss you Greatly Old Friend..
So true. Watching this made me cry. Thanks for the memories
He laughed WITH us...we miss you, Red!
I grew up watching red skeleton and I’ve never seen anybody as good as him and I doubt I ever well. It was the best I’ve ever seen
I watched every TV show with my mother and sister every week. He made us all laugh!
Marc Mccurdy got that Right
I was born in 1955 I’m sure I’ve watched him since Mom & Dad brought me home 🏡 from the Hospital 🏥 when I was Born 🤪 Danger Outrageous Comedian at Play
I grew by watching him.
@@vbrigham We watched the show every week and on Monday my friends and I at school would re- enact the skits from the show.
Red Skelton was such a talented man. He wrote books, made jewelry and was a fantastic comedian. I just loved his show. I still miss him today. Funny that he never used vulgar language or mannerisms but yet he was one of the greatest talents of all time.😊
He is the best and enjoyable even in todays world.❤😅
11:42p m. Thursday July 3rd. He was and is the best of the best. Loved it when he gets tickled at his self telling jokes. Need more people like him.
Holyshit look at the fabulous artistry in the fishermans sketch. Its very physical and the movements at the timing of the music is remarkable.
Truely remarkable.

Oh how the days in past were so blissful . And what an inspiration Red was to everyone 😁
Red Skelton was my favorite comedian when i was growing
up in the 60's. Never remember ever missing, "The Red Skelton
Show",. The movie that Red starred in, "The Fuller Brush Man",
was my favorite movie of all time.
This man was the best. This was the best of comedy. Real
I may have only been a child when his show was on, but I loved his show, he's a wonderful man.
It was amazing what he could do with just a hat...
I found out about red as a kid when someone donated a bunch of his shows vhs to goodwill (where i bought my vhs collection). Ohhh man i would replay them so much. Red skelton, i love lucy, and the 3 stooges will forever be my fav comedic shows/comedians.
Just finished 8:40...
IL Pescatore e iL Ragazzo;
I'm Smiling from ear to ear. 👂 😊 👂.! Pure, Sweet GENIUS. What a Joy to watch!
I grew up watching him without knowing how funny he was till I became an educated adult.
Heathcliff and Gertrude were always my favorite
Thank you for posting. Good night and God bless
Solid gold comedy from a much loved gentleman...
Red Skeleton was so underrated.
His pantomime and skits are the best! I believe this was Robin Williams’ mentor.
What a great talent!
I've been looking for this for years! My mom had recorded it on a videotape that I nearly destroyed from watching it too much. Thank you for posting this!
Same lol
He did a mime sketch of a couple, one half the male, the other half the female in evening dress. It was brilliant, and I never forgot it.
Karen Carter , Yes I saw that also
A Good Voice better than what we hear today.
He was one of a kind.loved him
We really need
More people like this. Clean comedians that are funny, they just don't make them like this Any more.
I'm a vintage 1961. I miss him so. "Good night and God Bless".
I remember watching red skeleton's show with my grandparents and mom. Many years ago.
One of the greatest comics to ever come to tv love him
