Red passed on September 17, 1997 so this was two months before his death. I grew up watching him and had great affection for the gentleman that he was.
We never missed a show growing up. Red is the all time great family comedian. Missed him a lot when his show went off the air. A truly wonderful person..😊
If ever you feel a piece missing from your life as I have, sit a while and be with Red. In an interview or on a stage matters not, just give yourself, you’ll be healed a lot. Thank you Red Skelton, life is all the richer for the time you gave us.
I had the honor to see a couple of the Red Skelton hour shows live at the CBS studios in Hollywood in the late 1960's. I lived in the LA area and saw so many shows from talk shows to variety. Red treated his studio audience so well even when the cameras were off. I was amazed how so many stars can appear to care for their audience when watching from home yet could care less about the people there without the camera rolling. Not Red, his love of people was real.
I sat with my grandmother and watched the Red Skelton shows ,and The Carol Burnet show, when i was very little, I'm 61 now. I always loved Red so much, he was the sweetest man on the planet.
Richard Dismore there's always going to be people who are sick in mind body and soul 👆🎭this man could make u laugh n cry with just being silent his heart 💖 for humanity of the soul a true American gentleman 🤗🎭💖
Seeing as Red and I are both from Indiana, it warms my heart knowing what a true gentleman he was and that I grew up the same way. I live in Washington state and most people are surprised by my "manners"! It must be a Midwest thing. I've watched Red as a kid til now! One of the best improvisers of his day....til he died. Miss that guy!!
Oh how I miss Red & his clean, funny comedy. Klem Kadiddlehopper was one of my favorite characters & I've seen the bit of him doing the old man at the parade. True comedians, such as him, are of a thing of the past sadly. 😢💜
I had the honor to see Red do his TV show live in 1968. The visit to "Television City" CBS studios by me a young teenager at that time is one of the most memorable life experiences. He made such an effort to connect with us the audience even when the camera was not on. I've watched countless interviews with Red and what a contrast he is from today "super celebrities". Red is always humble, remembering his childhood roots
This man was my hero and mentor from my childhood. The first time I laughed at the tv was watching this man. We went around the house recreating some of his characters in my teens. In my adulthood, I had the opportunity to see him live at the State Fair. A highlight of my life. Thanks to Red Skelton, I have been laughing ever since. I'm glad we can see him still on video so that I can still laugh, and cry till my time comes to die.
I also saw Red at the state fair. I know he's been gone 20 plus years but I love him still. Never thought it would happen but I got to meet him. A true gentleman who was gracious enough to spend a few minutes with a fan.
Im 63 watched him on TV all my youth and always loved Red, what an honest and kind hearted gentleman, never be another like him. Mr. Skelton you gave us so much of yourself and made all our lives better by being in them. RIP Mr. Skelton (Red)
Red was my mentor as I grew up. I did clowning for 15 yrs. after I was married. I still draw and paint some too. I wish so much I could thank him for all the entertainment as well as the inspiration. I got to go through his museum in Viceness Indiana (yeah, I know the city is spelled right here, that's ok Clowns were not known for great spelling ability). I loved him dearly and he is still a inspiration to me and hope he was to all of you. RIP my dearly loved friend, and may God bless.
watched mr skelton growing up .. a most amazing person...watching him is like having the best cake from the best bakery .. just soooo good .. truly of the greatest there ever were.
I had the great fortune of meeting and spending an evening with Red Skelton and Phyllis Diller at a poetry convention with my grandmother when I was just 18. To this day, it was one of the most hilarious, enjoyable evenings I can remember. Mr. Skelton was always a class act and I admired both of them immensely. They were both so kind, gracious, and hilarious.
Thank you! This is very well done! Red was humble and great. Radio, Movies, & Television. This interview is a very well-done piece of work, and it was so special to view him in this interview, He was very personable! His love for Art in all its mediums inspires confidence in us not to give up talent. It was touching to see him demonstrate his love for Art, the host, and the viewers. Thank you for this wonderful presentation!
It's obvious he was dying Red Skelton's skin was Yellow. I loved Red Skelton when he did physical comedy with Jerry Lewis. Talk about an honor. Jerry said so too.
His son's illness was the reason he got out of his show. He took his family allover the world so Richard could enjoy the beauty of this planet. What a wonderful man, husband and father as well as all of his other gifts to the world. RIP indead.
Red Skelton was an amazing entertainer. He was a good artist, but he was one of the most wonderful human beings who ever set foot on this earth. He was one of the hardest working people in recorded history. He wanted to make the world a better place and himself a more perfect person.
I got to see him in Manhattan Ks a few years before he passed. He was one of the last of the GREATS! RIP Mr Richard Red Skelton. It was an honor to see you.
@@keetrandling4530 But he didn't bring it into his presentation on stage. That is what makes him different. His act was always clean. And best yet he could laugh at his own jokes 🤣 which was almost as funny as his routine. 🤣🤣🤣
Red. Skelton is one of the few who has the greatest gift above most comedians. Anyone who has ever heard Red Skelton heard A grand Master iof if any living comedian If laughter is good for the heart then Red Skelton is the greatest doctor any one could ever know Ray Taylor
There will never be another Red. He was the best. Great comedian of all time. He was very talented and a genius. He was very gifted in his paintings of clowns. He made more money selling his paintings than he did in all of his comedy work and career. The worst day in Red's life was when Richard his son died from Leukemia when he was 12 years old.
Mr. Skelton you were the best you made me laugh you made me laugh so hard I would cry and I love watching you do your mimes and your facial expressions brought us in with you if that makes sense and you’ve never use bad language except for in your mime The one climbing the Eiffel tower with your wife and you tell her to shut the hell up that’s the only bad word I ever seen you use you were a great man and truly a clown of the heart and I pray that when I die I Our paths will cross and I get personally shake your hand and maybe give you a hug and tell you how much you meant to me on earth and how much you made me laugh when I was sad God bless you too Mr. Skelton and thank you for your wonderful entertainment and I pray that you’re making God the father and Jesus our savior laugh God bless Mr. Skelton we miss you here on earth and we love you
Red was a fine gentleman he would always stay after the show to speak with his fans, ran into Emmett Kelly Junior in Florida before he passed spent an hour with him, told him red was my favorite he said, he admired red also
I just read the history of Red on Wikipedia. During the great depression Red worked for $10 a week, and sent all of it home to his mother. The whole article is worth a read if you are a fan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Skelton Good night and may God bless.
Canvas is a very unforgiving medium. From personal experience, I can tell you that Red was a truly wonderful man. He came from nothing and suffered greatly during the course of his life. It took him a very long time to find a way forward after losing Richard Jr. When his wife, Lothia passed my mother and I thought for sure he would soon pass himself with a broken heart. I never met her, but I knew his first wife, Georgia. I also met his daughter, Valentina when she was about 13. I miss Red and I hope he's giving the Devil pure heaven every day. Sleep well, and know that you are loved.
Red passed on September 17, 1997 so this was two months before his death. I grew up watching him and had great affection for the gentleman that he was.
I just barely recall his shows I was too young But GOD I recall he loved JESUS
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER RED SKELTON HE WAS A CLASS ACT.
Always loved him on tv and felt he was the most kindest person.
He was in a class all of his own, one of a kind. He gave so much to so many, RIP Mr Skelton.
He was a great person. Went out of his way to make people happy. Did a lot of entertainment for our troops without being mentioned. A humble Patriot.
So true!
One of the great gentlemen of all time!
Amen!
We never missed a show growing up. Red is the all time great family comedian. Missed him a lot when his show went off the air. A truly wonderful person..😊
Same here...
I loved this man growing up.
"Good night and may God Bless"❤
One of the finest men I ever met
I watched this interview and thought to myself, "what a sweet and lovable human being."
He was that and much more.
Red Skelton was a true American treasure! ❤️❤️❤️
What a heart of gold this guy has. I loved watching him when I was young. 😀😀
I purchased two of his works. The last one arrived the day he died. What a very special man!

Seemed to be a great person so sad we have to loose someone like Red.
I sat with my grandmother and watched the Red Skelton shows ,and The Carol Burnet show, when i was very little, I'm 61 now. I always loved Red so much, he was the sweetest man on the planet.
Red made more money as a painter than he did from all of his films and tv shows combined.Wonderful man
WOW, this is a great video. I grew up learning to be a better person because of Red. Thanks so much...
Red wasn't just a prince amoung clowns. Although he practically founded clown colleges everywhere, just by exsisting. He was a wonderful gentleman.
We should pray to have more like Red Skelton on this earth.
How in the world could anyone give this interview a thumbs down? There are some sick worthless people in this world.
Richard Dismore there's always going to be people who are sick in mind body and soul 👆🎭this man could make u laugh n cry with just being silent his heart 💖 for humanity of the soul a true American gentleman 🤗🎭💖
They are probably people who are very young and don't realize who This Great Man was.
Things have changed we have hateful ,disrespectful, want everything for free, without having to work, sad but true, missing those great simple days
You have to realize that there are an army of people who thumbs down hundreds of videos but they don't actually watch them or even know what they are.
May God forgive your hateful worthless sick comment.

There was no sweeter man on Earth, than Red Skelton. I would have loved to meet him. And I would love to get one of his drawings, they're magical.
even among the greats he was in a class of his own ..i can still see my dear mother who is long gone laughing and smiling because of this man...
Me too, Maple.. Me, too

Funniest man ever, never a bad or off color word.
"never a bad or off color word" ... on stage. Sadly, if you read his bio, well, let's just say I wish I could un-know about his back-stage behavior.
