  • Zach Edey has been solid so far throughout the Summer League, including a notable performance against the Utah Jazz that included a clutch tip in on an offensive rebound to send the game to OT. There were some questions about Edey's translatability from the college ranks to the pros, but with the environment that he was drafted to in Memphis, early success may be in store for him in Year 1 of his NBA journey.

What a sweet spot to walk into. Steven adams is missed. You got a team with mostly 3 year + talented players. You are a fierce rebounder on a team that was weaker at it. The team needs a pick and roll man and you are a biig guy who can set nasty screens.

100%. Fills a role they need perfectly. Amazing pick by that front office

Surprisingly knowledgeable on the grizzlies, much better than other non-Memphis sources. Had to drop a sub 💪🏾

Have we seen Edey not be able to shoot? I've seen several reports that say they've seen him make more consecutive 3s in practices than you'd think. I think coaches thinking is, why have him shoot 3s when he's 7'4?

Anyone who knew basketball knew this kid was gonna be a beast in the nba..the “experts” all said he was too slow footed, had no touch out laid the block..can’t wait till kid proves them all dead wrong..ps he should’ve been encouraged to play for Canada in the Olympics

lol. The point was that in Year 1 both players saw immediate success as rookies bc they were in a winning situation. This is a rookie of the year conversation which Simmons happened to win

I'm sorry, but Memphis is not close to Dallas, OKC, Minnesota, or Denver.

I would argue otherwise. If healthy I think they’re on the same tier. This core when all are available have generally seen some success in the West and they’ve only built the roster since then

@TheRealTySmall ja realistically hasn't played nba basketball in over a year, Adams (love the guy) is being replaced entirely by Edey. They're staying stagnant in terms of roster construction, and everyone else in the west is getting better outside of maybe Denver, the clippers, and the Lakers. Memphis will be at most a 44 win team this year, purely due to the conference they exist in. Probably 48-50 if they played in the east. Very good team, but not at the pinnacle of the conference.

As a Memphis fan, we will win 50+ games. This team is better than our team from 2 seasons ago. There are a couple of new additions, but the same setup. If our bench can come out solid for the season, we will be fine. A young team with the stars being 4+ seasons under their belt. Excited to see what they can do!
