@3:47 as you mention pubs, you were standing right outside a building that was tiled on the outside. This used to be a pub called the Ship, and i remember it being on the front page of the sun for holding the record of more landlords in a year than any other pub.. it was roughest pub in England from memory :)
Thank you, Paul Adams!!! Beautiful informations about Tilbury Town.I love the way of your presentation. It urged my enthusiasm as you shared your video. Keep safe. I’m youravid fan.😷💐💐❤️❤️🌈🌈💐💐
Thanks for the tour. The plaza / Charrington's building abound 3.50, once upon a time was the ship pub. Around 90/91 all the red top papers had article about this pub and named it the hardest pub in Britain. After many years away, The Horse Trough is now back in it's original place in dock road. The late 60s it was moved to Biggin Lane and then only recently moved back. It seems there was a bit more respect for the place when I grew up there in the 70s and 80s.
Matthew, I can imagine Tilbury & other Thames side towns was full of hard nuts back in the day, I suppose people are just products of their environment what with the docks & other industries!
Well I have to go to grays to c my gp and I go by taxi cost nearly £10 if i come and go £20 so it's so hard for pensioner who need bus but it's long time to wait for bus can't carry bit heavy shopping it's very hard I live in Alexandra rd just near tillbury town centre
@@dionne929 Having not lived there or had much reason to stay there for any length of time I honestly cannot say that Tilbury is 100% safe but I felt completely safe walking around making this video. With close links into central London & to the coast in the opposite direction & close to major roads & Lakeside shopping centre, I could think of worse places to live but is it safe to live there? I can't honestly say!
Lived at tilbury from the late 90s for a few years at Byron gardens, I liked how easy it was to get to lakeside for work( bus or train), pretty handy if you didn’t drive
sure the Anchor was once a wetherspoons. Also Tibury Fort has a pub near called the worlds end. East Tibury has loads of history Bata shoes. bought my first home there
Traffic doesn't look to bad. Think we need a new video !!! The town has got worse than it ever has been 😭. But the people still have hearts of gold 💖💖💖💖💖
Yeah this interests me. People’s income is so low now that so many recreational places close. And there’s no investment in youth services etc. It’s very sad
Hey mate, great video. Need some advice. Family relocating from Australia to Uk in early 2023 and working in Tilbury. Where would you recommend residing? Looking at somewhere nearby with good transport.
Hi Brenton, thanks for the positive comments! Tilbury & nearby Grays are affordable places to buy properties & both have great rail links into London as well as being close to the UK motorway network with the M25 just a few miles up the road, the downside is that these towns are unfortunately a little run down & shoddy looking with boarded up shops & an air of desolation & in my humble opinion (and it is just my personal opinion as other people may say different) I would look elsewhere to be honest, Chafford Hundred is closer to London not a million miles up the road from Tilbury but is a fairly new development so lacks a proper town centre, however it does have a giant shopping centre on it's doorstep though with every conceivable retail outlet, bar & restaurant one could wish for, I would start here, hope this helps. Good luck & all the best relocating to the UK!...Paul.
Look at the STATE of it, today! Born n bred there, as was my father, his parents moved there from the East End in the 1920s - I'm sooooooo happy I got out of that utter stain on Essex!
Well I recently come in tillbury town but there r no busses running as v need 2nd no clinic to c gp straight no eye clinic no hearing aid clinic no supper market Sainsbury or Morrison and other super market
That Riverside Heights used to be the old Seaman's Mission. We lived in Tilbury (Thackeray Avenue) for 10 years back in the 1990's. It was a sh*th*le then and still look's the same now. I suppose some things never change. Glad we got out of there with no regrets at all.
Guess the argument at the station wsd over the validity of hid Oyster card: wr arethe first stop.outside thr Oyster area and you'd be surprised how many people it catches.
Super Tour and im glad you went to the Worlds end and the fort . which is well worth a visit . and glad to see the litter was to a minimum.
I can't quite believe how much it has changed! I lived there for 6 years in the late 80s to early 90s and it was a busy place with everything open.

Great trip down memory lane. Can remember little bits, but a lot has changed. Lived on Brennan Road in the 90s. Thanks for the walkabout.
Linzi thanks!

Thanks for the tour! I've lived here for a couple of years (along Calcutta Road). Nice to see the same old shops that I used to go to.
Kelvin thank you!
I’m viewing a flat today. Coincidentally, it’s situated in Calcutta Road. Would you say it’s safe living there/ or in the area? Thanks.

I'm not a pub visiting person much but yes, I'd still say it's nice to see every town have one...
Paul I am, lol!! Every English town or village needs at least one pub!!
It's sad to see the now faded look of Tilbury Town, but nonetheless you made a good video and finished it in the only pub available😊😊
Thanks, hopefully it will serve pints for many years to come!!

Keith this was my first walking video, I do have another channel completely unrelated to London or Walking!
I'm from tilbury! it is a peaceful town compared to grays esp in the neighbourhood from my knowledge..as I'm from there. .😂😆
Also @4:24 a film called Bothers Grimsby was filmed there
