@JJExtra you should walk to Shorne mead fort (google it) , it's an old derelict abandoned fort, its really cool. Really nice quiet and tranquil walk with things to see on the way such as army shooting ranges and a big police training ground with a fake town where they practice car chases etc. Takes about an hour to get there. Head right (facing the thames) at gravesend prom and follow the river until you get there. Be sure to stop at the ship and lobster pub on the way. Proper old British traditional boozer. You can even park your car at the ship and lobster and walk from there, would be quicker. It would make a good video. Loving the content guys, keep it up
I love the way you guys find the positives when visiting these kind off places. Too many people only see the negatives. 👍. Well done. Happy travels. ☀️😁
I was born in Gravesend ( a VERY long time ago) and live in The Philippines now, but I love it when I can get back to my old home town sometimes. Thanks for such a lovely video, of course there's always been an underbelly in the town, in fact I even wrote a small urban crime trilogy (The King of Gravesend) based in the town and on fictionalized versions of actual events. Super video guys thanks for doing that!!!!
I love Gravesend with its rich history and faded glamour. Next time you visit, you should go to Windmill Hill. It’s a beautiful area and some incredible views from the top of the hill! Great vid guys - thank you!!!
Great vid guys. I was born in Gravesend 1968 and grew up and lived there till I was shipped off to Uni in London. I now rezide in Cancun Mexico but have fond memories of Gravesend. It was always known as a "rough" town but that was mainly due to the "traverllers" (gypsies) that used to preside in the Dickens area. Feeling nostalgic.
Gravesend I feel will become the next hotspot in the next few years, it’s close proximity to both London and the coast, excellent transport connections - just 20 minutes by train to Kings Cross, plus one train ride away from the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood, the DLR at Woolwich, and the 02 centre at Charlton, plus links to other hotspots in London such as Greenwich, Blackheath and Peckham all one train ride away, a fabulous Georgian quarter, it just needs cash and businesses to come in, it’s ripe for development, Gravesend has the best of being a gateway to London & the suburbs, the coastal resorts of Kent and being surrounded by Kentish countryside.
Love the riverfront in Gravesend, can recommend the Three Daws pub overlooking the river, great Sunday roast. Next time you go try to have a look at the Sikh temple, haven’t seen the inside but it does look amazing from outside.
I lived in nearby Northfleet for about 2 years as a child [1966-8; 8-10yo]. I remember the cafe where you bought your ice creams. Seem to remember there was a playground directly behind. I also remember a school trip to Tilbury Fort via the ferry you mentioned.
Not too bad a place to live, Gravesend. Very handy for London (30 min on the High Speed line) also close to the North Kent Coast for days out. Shame a lot of the shops have closed due to competition from Bluewater and out-of-town megastores, but there are some decent pubs and fantastic curry houses. Also look over Windmill Hill, that's a lovely conservation area. Yes you get some trouble now and again, but name a town where you don't!
Agreed! Everywhere has it’s good parts and it’s not so good parts, that’s the way the world is. We have not been to Windmill Hill so will have to check it out, thanks for the recommendation
The good thing about the ferry is that with the ferry tickets you can use them on the coaches that take you to the train station which happened when I was going Southend
Lovely video lads , always interesting things if you look for them , its a shame the ferry to Tilbury is being withdrawn at the end of March so grab a trip on it whilst you still can , the Three Daws pub is famous for its smuggler history.
Great video highlighting Gravesend in a positive light, we love it 😀 we were in Gravesend for the carnival, The Northfleet carnival 😀 Love the Fred Perry shirt 👕 😀
Hi. I am embarrassed to say I have only been to Gravesend once in my life and then I drove the wrong way into a no thru road and a Policeman stopped me. By this time I had been driving round for over an hour looking for the place I was supposed to be so I rudely said just arrest me. Instead he kindly drove his car and told me to follow him and he took me to the address I had been looking for. But it looks a nice place and is deffo on my to visit list.
Gravesend is a Great Town, especially if your into outdoor pirsuits 💛 just keep it quiet Yh 😁👍 3 golf courses, river fishing, great rugby / tennis club and bags of history, not to mention a huge cyclo park..
I would never have thought to visit Gravesend but it doesnt look as bad as everyone makes out. I didnt know that was where Pocahontas was buried thats really interesting. I could sit and watch the boats all day long. xx
Graveyard is historically and architecturally a really interesting place but it has it's share of derelicts hanging around (don't most places now?) I have never encountered any trouble though. Well worth a visit and lunch at the The Three Dawes.
Apparently the Gravesend/London Uber ran during May. But their website said more dates "coming soon". Cost with return was 20 pounds 50. They also have an "all day pass" for 26 pounds 50@. Would one want to go back and forth several times? Sorry, using U.S. English keyboard. No pound sign.
Haha yes can’t imagine going back and forth between London and Gravesend all day but I suppose you could use the day ticket to hop on and hop off whilst in London to get to different places. That would be a fun day!
We're you two in that area before? It looks familiar. Looks fun. What kinda ice cream did you guys get? Does josh have a backpack on or something else? Ha that's what I do
@@deepeshsharmaI have lived here 2 years near Thong lane, I go into town regularly, I have no trouble here, I would recommend it, ask more if you need to!
Thank you for showing that Gravesend isnt as bad as everyone thinks, its really not that bad, been here 45 years so far 🙂
It’s a great place - we can’t wait to revisit again soon ☺️

I didn’t realize how much history there is to Gravesend .
Thank you for sharing it with us ❤️❤️xx
It is very historic but you do have to look a little harder than in some other places 😊
I love the way you guys find the positives when visiting these kind off places. Too many people only see the negatives. 👍. Well done. Happy travels. ☀️😁
Aw thank you! They really do! Thanks for watching 😊

We’ve heard the temple is beautiful and thank you for recommending the pub, Josh is definitely sold by a Sunday roast!
Three Daws Inn is brilliant

Thank you so much. Always makes us happy to hear when people are enjoying the videos 😊
Come back for Vaisaki next spring, it is another lovely day in the Gravesend calendar.
Yup, and visiting the sikh temple would be good too. It is one of the biggest in europe
Thank you for letting us know about Vaisaki Louise. We will do some research!
I moved a mile away from Gravesend 3 years ago and I absolutely love it here.
Moved from Beckenham
Glad you like your new home although Beckenham too is a nice place, we know it well!

Oh dear that sounds like something Josh would do 😂 least you got to where you needed to be in the end!
Live in Northfleet which is just out from Gravesend. The town centre has changed a lot from when I was young but wouldn’t say it’s very dangerous.
Gravesend is a history during evaluation of Dunkirk when boats go pass Gravesend towards north coast of france

Thank you so much! Yes Chatham is on our list to visit at some point. Do you have any particular recommendations for us?

My mum lives actually in Chatham dockyard I can get you guys in for look around ❤
That rice dish OMG yes please !
It was delicious & full of flavour 😋
I live here its really good
Gravesend used to be my hang out area and I think you only get problems in areas if you give off a problem aura , simple as that really.
I live there in gravesend
I’m not Essex but always in gravesend as family live there I don’t think it’s as bad as people seem but it just depends what they’ve witnessed
Very true. Always easy to see the worst in places when you spend a lot of time there.

Bruh it's not even bad I live here and it's good and we have one of the best bus travel ever
Gravesend is totally fine, lived here over 50 years
Agreed 👍🏻 unfortunately it’s easy for somewhere to get a bad reputation, not so easy to shake it off
@@JJExtra it's a town all about outdoor persuits, want shopping go somewhere else fella

Gravesend is OK, coming from living in Greenwich it’s definitely worlds apart.
