I own four Guilds - this model of F-40, an F-55E Indian Rosewood, an X-175B, and a Starfire III. The only guitar in my collection that compares is my Martin HD-28. Guild is THE great unsung American guitar brand. I prefer them.
I have a F40e on the way. Looking forward to it. 'African Mahogany' sounds a lot like 'Sapele' to me. I tend to prefer Honduran, but if it has mojo, I'll keep it.
@@jed1166 I find sapele a little too zingy. I've owned 2 3xxTaylors, and sold them both. This guitar I've had since the end of August, and it is my favourite acoustic right now. Great bass, well-balanced sound, lightly built, and plays great out of the box. If it weren't for the lackluster pup, I'd give it 10/10.
@Preacher At Arrakeen great endorsement! Based on your non-love for the pickup, I will buy the acoustic and install a Baggs Lyric... mic only, no saddle pickup

Preacher At Arrakeen you are right... mahogany doesn’t grow in Africa. BUT, I like Sapele ! Have it on a Takamine P3D.... unobtrusive tone wood...
