"Memorizing the angle" he says. The compound end-angle on the compound side-angled piece of curved trim, while it is inverted and now again a straight stick. You are a wood wizard, Peter.
after ten years of not working on my cabin cruiser, now watching your videos, you have motivated me to finish it. the hull is now ready for primer and paint, all the cabin furniture is new mahogany, half new chines, half the keel and ribs and half the bottom planks. ready for stain and varnish now. thanks.
Looking very, very impressive, Peter. We most certainly love it, love it, love it !! Watching your 'seat of the pants' resolution of problems is encouraging, saving us the many, many, many years of professional skill you have to call upon. A joy to join you in this most worthwhile of callings..cheers from an Aussie mate..
As expected, that turned out incredible. Looking back to what the head looked like before it is just about magical the transformation. Us viewers have set a pretty high standard Peter, yet you always manage to meet and surpass the standard. Well done.
After I retired, I thought I'd get into wood working, but realized with my tremors using power tools, especially a table saw could be dangerous. ;-) Are you planning to add dark paint to the registration numbers?
Great question! The registration number is washed out in the video but it they lovely in real life, so I don't think I'll add any contrast. Thanks for the comment and for watching! See you next week!
Thanks for a great episode. The forward head is looking fantastic as all your work does. A real Saturday evening treat here in the UK. Enjoy the boat festival. Keep safe.
Fantastic renovation to your classic boat again Peter and may I suggest that the boats serial number on the overhead you beautifly lit up may stand out a bit better if they were painted black.just a thought.
That's a very keen observation. But I can assure you, to the naked eye, the registration numbers lie in a beautiful contrast of shade and shadow. Sadly, the imperfection of digital photography has corrupted it's beauty for the viewer! Appreciate your comment, cheers!
Your workmanship is superb. I dread to think what a Woodwork Professional would have charged for the same work and even then not to your high standards.
Geordie has sure come a long way from the day you first moved aboard Peter. Have watched from the first video. The forward head looks amazing! Love your attention to detail, the lighting, and genius woodworking skills. Enjoy the boat show.
Good question Frank! I use glue where long term stability is required. Many trim pieces will stay in place quite securely with the advantage of easy disassembly in future if required.
The forward head looks like new money Peter.👍 Are you going to build a new door for the chain locker or just veneer and trim out the one you took out? Perhaps a wooden ships wheel or compass face would look good on it. Just a thought of course. Hope you and Andrea have a great time at the boat show. Cheers🍻
Always love your fit and finish woodworking, another fine example of what your time and patience creates! Has to bring a smile to your face each time you stop to look around you in the boat !👍🛥
You're very welcome and if Geordie ever makes it here to the UK, I will want to inspect that lighting on the registration 👍🏻 Then we can celebrate with some Scampi bites.
Tinting Poly isn't recommended due to streaking problems, but I've had good results using a light color wood stain first, then applying the Poly over it when it dries a few minutes later. Testing on scrap will show the end result so you can adjust the amount of stain needed to 'color match'...
Zack, as tempting as that may be, and to be fair, others have suggested the same, I think the honest and credible carving of a vessel's registration is a tribute to the craftsmanship that might be lessened by the opulence of gold leaf.
What happened to your HAIR? Did it happen when you installed the SAMSON Post? Was that Delilah's doing? X-D. J/K, it looks great--it's just a bit of a shock!
You make it all look so easy. It's coming out so beautifully Peter. I've forgotten though, is it going to remain a head? I imagine you're going to have to have a small vanity, head and of course the sole. I don't think you're quite out of that box just yet.
@ oh I know Peter, I watched the following episode and you explained it all. I’m just keeping the comment here for the algorithm. You should have more subscribers.
Very Classy.😅🎉❤ Nice haircut as well.😅 You gonna need a Classy looking Plastic barrel for the chain locker maybe lined with timber to the bits ya van see then the whole place in the Bow will look swish.😮😅 Keep at it.
Thank you! Thankfully, the chain locker will be enclosed with a lovely new door, which you will see in an upcoming episode. Thanks for watching, cheers!
The new shelving and trim looks great, Peter. Hair cut looks pretty rad too! My old Monk is just now pulling into Bahia Matanchen, Nayarit, Mexico (San Blas)
Serious question about those 12 Volt lights; do you realise that this doesn't mean they are able to survive the start-current of your engine? That goes easily above 14.4 Volt at the moment of cranking the engine, and if these lights (or other 12 Volt equipement!) aren't made for that it can destroy the lights. I hope/think you did ;-) Anyhow beautifull results to see in this episode again, lovely to view!
What kind of pins do you use with your pin nailer? If they are mild steel, I would be concerned about how well they will hold up in a marine environment.
"Memorizing the angle" he says. The compound end-angle on the compound side-angled piece of curved trim, while it is inverted and now again a straight stick. You are a wood wizard, Peter.
Heh, thank you! To be fair, it take a few passes to be perfect. But I appreciate the vote of confidence! See you next week, cheers!
This line made me laugh too.
New episode, new haircut, another spectecular presentation.
I love it, love it, love it
Thanks as always Markus! Great to hear from you. Cheers and we'll see you next week!

Sounds great Tom! It's sure to be a lovely boat. Hope you can launch soon!
Wow - do you know your business! That cabin looks as good as your houses on the bluff.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!

Thanks Lewis! Ooh, wouldn't that be fun. Thanks for the support and we'll see you next week!
Peter, the head is looking amazing, glad to see she is coming out so well.
Also great haircut, the look suits you.
Thanks as always mate!
Nice haircut Peter. I was starting to refer to you as the 'Bob Ross' of the classic wood boat world LOL
Heh, i get that a lot! And here I thought it was the beard!
As expected, that turned out incredible.
Looking back to what the head looked like before it is just about magical the transformation.
Us viewers have set a pretty high standard Peter, yet you always manage to meet and surpass the standard. Well done.
Thanks as always! The Wrench speaks and I am humbled. I really appreciate your continued support of the show. Cheers!
Oh yes………..love the haircut…….makes you 10 yrs younger .! 😂😂😂
Thank you! It was long overdue. Cheers!
Peter, you have transformed that head! You are truly an artist! Everything that you do is a work of art! Awesome video!
Gosh Thomas, I'm blushing. That's very kind. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

Frankly, I liked the wild hair look

If you know you know.
Your are so right David! Thanks for watching!
Great job Peter! Not many people will see it but WE know it's there!
Thank you very much Peter! That's' what makes it satisfying.
Can't wait to see it all completed with the cabinets. Looks fantastic so far. Nice haircut.

Now that is a head turning head, beautiful work! Love the haircut Peter!
Thank you Nena! The haircut was long overdue!
You have been shorn. Nice.
And there was enough left on the barber's floor to make a sweater!
Hair trim followed by head trim what a show.
Thank you! Both turned out better than I expected. Cheers!
"In the Bristol fashion." So, so lovely Peter. Still have to put a little stain on the centerline stand off blocks but still lovely!
Thanks Ric! Agh! I completely missed on those. There are too tall and should be mahogany.
Your workmanship is superb. I dread to think what a Woodwork Professional would have charged for the same work and even then not to your high standards.
Thank you Bryan! O my gosh, i couldn't possibly afford these boats if I couldn't do everything by myself.
That's shaping up to be the coziest looking head I've ever seen! Really phenomenal job, sir! Nice cleanup of your actual head too :D
Thanks Kyle! Now I have to make the rest of the boat match!! Thanks for commenting and for watching!
That haircut makes you look so much younger I thought a thumbnail from ten years ago had popped up on my screen!
Heh! Flattered, thank you!
Attention to detail, as always, looking great. Haircut's an improvement also.
Thanks so much! The hair cut was long overdue. Cheers!
Awesome work Peter! Your videos are a great source for ideas, motivation and having a beer of the week.
Thank you very much!
Well done Peter. The lighting is so tasteful. I love the numbers display.
Thanks so much Chris! I can add that it looks even nicer in real life.
I'm hoping that the outdoor helm is in line for the coming season.
It is, it is, it is! Can't wait!
😮 OMG Peter this is absolutely beautiful work 👏👏👏
Thanks as always Filip. I really appreciate the encouragement!

I can!
Once again Peter, outstanding work.
Thank you Greg! I am very pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for watching and we'll see you next week!

Wrong time of year to get shorn - you must be feeling the cold round yr ears lol
Oh my Gosh yes!
Your use of glue, or not, on these fixings is because ? Cheers FRANK from down under
Good question Frank! I use glue where long term stability is required. Many trim pieces will stay in place quite securely with the advantage of easy disassembly in future if required.

Thank you! Sometimes I read a comment from someone who really gets it, and it's so heartening!
You're going to need shades to go to the head. You could finish the look with some gloss black paint on the registration numbers.
Thanks Larry! Dimmers are definitely in my future!
You're very welcome and if Geordie ever makes it here to the UK, I will want to inspect that lighting on the registration 👍🏻 Then we can celebrate with some Scampi bites.
Thanks again David! And you can count on the celebration! Cheers!
I think you should put bronze cap nuts oh the winch base bolt to really finish the room. great work
Kurt! Stay tuned!
Looks great, Peter! Nice haircut too.
Thank you very much! I needed a trim.

Great information here! Thanks so much for the tip and for watching. Cheers!
Love it Love it Love it. Especially the hair trim.
Thank you very much! The hair trim was long overdue.
Absolutely amazing! Were also working on a huge refit of our 65' power catamaran, and its so encouraging to see others too..Keep up the great work!
Have you considered painting the numbers and letter gold? It would tie in nicely with your boats name painted on the stern.
Zack, as tempting as that may be, and to be fair, others have suggested the same, I think the honest and credible carving of a vessel's registration is a tribute to the craftsmanship that might be lessened by the opulence of gold leaf.

Does anything smell better than sanded teak or mahogany? Sometimes I just go to the lumberyard to walk around for a little while.
So true Jeffrey. Between Sapele, red cedar and yellow cedar, the fragrance of my day is very pleasant!
Lookin good.
Thanks so much Tim!

I can't find the link for the puck lights ? Thanks
Yes I couldn't find them either.
What was the paint you used? Looks very smooth to be rolled on.
Ah, i should have mentioned. It's Petit EZ Epoxy. Fabulous stuff!
@TravelsWithGeordie Thanks
