Anyone who says Arizona shouldn’t leave is full of it. More money, more exposure for student athletes on major TV networks during prime time tv slots(not 2am eastern time when everyone is asleep). Arizona is a basketball school, Big12 is the best basketball conference in the nation, perfect fit for us.

Especially when there is no media deal, and won't be one with UO and UW heading to the B10. B12 is a solid conference with good leadership.

Yes but football is still the sport that drives this. Basketball is nice because it seems to be the best basketball conference. But for revenue, football > basketball by a lot.

Let’s be honest, if academics mattered at all in this the Ivy League would be the most dominant conference. So let’s be real the academics mean nothing in this.

UCF is growing to be one of the elite research institutions in the nation and they've had partnerships already with ASU. Although UCF has 68,000+ students, they have a low 36% acceptance rate. We have a medical school, research center, VA medical center, Nemours children's hospital with partnership with University of Florida. We also have affiliations with Orlando Health and Advent Health teaching hospitals, which are on the US News and World Report's list of America's top hospitals. So UA, ASU and UU will have great partnerships in research. Yes UCF is not yet AAU but with the amount of research grants our professors receive and the awards bestowed upon them will one day have them invited. The state of Florida has 3 schools that are AAU: University of Florida, University of South Florida and University of Miami, whom all work in partnership with UCF clinical researchers.

East/West divisions of Big12 would be tough to figure out especially considering logistical distances traveling to conference games. However, North/South divisions make sense along the Mason/Dixon line stretched out to the west as travel would be more evenly spread. (At least 10 teams getting into March Madness should be a done deal as well)
North: BYU, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Cincinnati, & West Virginia.
South: Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Houston, and UCF.

All be it how much ASU and U of A hate each other, they just couldn't live without the opportunity to hate each other each year without the most important football game each year in the state of Arizona. That of course being The Territorial Cup. Arizona's tradition of hating it's life long football, actually everything being ASU/u of A couldn't live without each other ,so that is a testament to how loyal and important tradition is to Arizonians. Go Devils Gooo! Wait what U of A is leaving don't go I'll come with says ASU. I love to hate you!
