Back when the demo released, people ran out of their electronic video wonder machine rooms (that is what they used to call gaming battlestations) because they thought that Gordon Freeman was actually attacking them!
I think it would have been fun for the narrative. Also, it would make there be a traceable link between this game and those detective games with the same powers.
This version was made using Unity and SFM Assets. If they used those HECU assets, they would've gotten into heat for charging money using pre-made Workshop assets, along with the Unity models for Mitchel and the other characters. Thats why the characters look so different, they literally got a 3D modeler to make actual character and NPC models lmao
Oh boy hunt down the freeman 2016... Man do i have a story to say about this. The demo was using early scripts, a lot of the plot points were heavily changed and most of them actual made more sense then what we end up it. Like COME ON i never understand why the changed the script with the one we have right now. Demo Mitchell was voiced by the same voice actor that played Boris in the final game. The masked rebels are citizens from city 14 coming in city 17 offering support to the Resistance. If you look at the intro the used a half life source map which is pretty much sector C, Mitchell Hecu model was using a fuse one even do you clearly see the lore accurate hecu on the floor (Also those are Romka hecu models. Long story short all the fuse model were placeholders) The reason why Mitchell can look in people memory's is because the Vortigaunts saved him and gave him some vorts power. Berkan had plans for the game to have dlcs expansion packs, a seven hour war dlc, Multiplayer mode, Animated Series and a Movie, VR support etc . (it was posted on InddieGogo page) The final boss at the end of demo requires the player to trigger the Antlion Guard to run into explosion barrels. You just have to make sure yo stay far away and let the Guard run into the barrel. Anyway glad you played the demo it sure is a interesting era for HDTF
NGL I think the "being able to see the memories of dead people" thing that Mitch has in this demo's kinda neat, I dunno, it kinda fits how Mitchell is pretty much a dead man walking so it's interesting to see the game - in some way at least - explore that a little more. I think another mod could use that in a very interesting way.
