A new survey has revealed that a large proportion of students from Dalit and Adivasi communities studying in IIT Bombay face caste discrimination. Last month, Darshan Solanki, a Dalit student of the first year in this institute, had committed suicide. A committee was formed to investigate the matter, but in the interim investigation report, the allegations of caste discrimination were dismissed outright. However, a new survey reveals horrific statistics. Watch the video to know more.

Q.1. *Why castism is not ending at a fast rate (virtually not ending) ?*
Ans- To answer this, first we must understand what is caste system.
Caste system is a feudalistic system (a type of socio-economoc system) based on birth backed by religion. Despite the introduction of a mix of socialist and capitalist policies in India, we are not able to get rid of the caste system 'cuz it is linked to religion (Sanatana/vedic/hindu dharm) and religion is the most important identity for most people in India. So, they see caste system/varna system as a part of their culture and their ancesters legacy.
In earlier times, most civilisations used religion as a base for their socio-economic transformation and India was one of them. However, the problem with this approach is that once a certain socio-economic policy is implemented in the society then it becomes virtually impossible to get ride of it or transform it 'cuz they just relate it to the gods or any person who has been made a deity and we have a bad habbit of deifying people.
The dharmsutras/dharmshashtras are nothing but a bunch of sets of socio-economic policies. Dharma = role/duty (with a sense of devotion), sutra/shashtra = policy/book. Dharmasutra/dharmshashtra = policies/book of roles/duties.
Q.2. *So, what do we learn ?*
Ans. We learn that :-
1. We must never connect socio-economic policies to religion or culture.
2. We must never deify anyone who is making socio-economic policies.
Q.3. Solution ?
Ans. De-linking of caste/varna system from religion. We must make people aware of the fact and people must understand that the caste system or varna systrm was/were just socio-economic systems which is/are currently outdated and useless for our current society and hinders the socio-economic progress of our nation. Saying stuffs like varna system was good but later got corrupted due to either our own people or mughals or the britishers just puts the blame on either britishers or mughals or people of the past. Instead of doing that we must be aware of the fact and recognise the fact that caste or varna systems, all these were just socio-economic policies which failed or were just partially successful 'cuz even in varna system there is restrictions related to marriage which results in its own form of problems in longer terms and we are currently living in a mix of socialist and capitalist society which is far more flexible than either varna or caste system.
In the name of preserving our culture, we must stop this linking of the socio-economic system of caste/varna system with our culture/religion.
De-link them instead and stop following the outdated dharmsutra and caste/varna systems.

Caste is the reason of reservation. He was mistreated 'cuz of caste. He was mistreasted by those who got into that college and not by those who couldn't get into that college. Those who got affected due to the side effect of reservation are not in that college but the ones who didn't get affected are and they are the ones who mistreated him 'cuz their castes couldn't get into the college.
I come from general category but professor in iit bhu used to say about sc/st candidates openly when they didnt complete their assignments "tum log reservation lekar aa gye ho bus".

In my opinion ,students discriminate not because of caste ,they simply discriminate because they don't like someone getting the admission in the college easily with such lower rank whereas they need to do so much hardwork.

I had not mind if they had discriminated on reservation because I also felt somewhere more intelligent person has eliminated for that seat ( This is my personal thinking or views because I feel more intelligent person might be at my place) but that person was abusing by taking a lower caste name openly to which I have objection. Even university students didn't respect lower castes people making fun of their lower caste. I have seen that and i can't deny not once,quite times. My rank was 15k in mains . I got ECE in NIT Durgapur.
One of friends rank is around around 76k and he got CSE in NIT Durgapur.
Because he belongs to ST catagory .
How we supposed to accept this ? Honestly we don't get what we deserve.

I have to pay almost 7 lakh for my btech because my father is earning 3 lakhs per annum.
On the other hand he has to pay just 1.5 lakh for his entire btech although his father is earning above 7 LPA ( his father is a headmaster of government school that's why probably he can earn more ) .

YES, this is happening in most of the IIT's and NIT's in India.
I also faced the same thing in NIT Allahabad where the professors of upper caste itself were encouraging such a discrimination in the classroom.

Biggest reason for this discrimination is, making education as a tool for getting job. When education will be taken for getting knowledge and job as byproduct, these discrimination will be washed out from our society.

I have studied in JNV and lived in hostel since my childhood and never experienced a single case caste discrimination. I always thought my privious experience will be very helpful in engineering life in terms of making friends and indulging with new people but it was very shocking,At very my first day of engineering, a girl asked about my caste in front of half class in lunch time. My second name does not reflect any caste and they were very curious to know about my caste. being sc, at that time
I was not very mature enough to talk about my caste name.at that moment I didn't tell anything about me.
If someone wants to know about your caste, and if you are avoiding answering to then they will guess that you belong to sc/st and their attitude towards you will change. and I also experienced it as well, my studies was really affected from it (1st &2nd sem). 4-5 bach mates were continuously bullying ,as time passes i keep on Improving my marks and above them and egnore. This really helped me a lot, But one thing I must confess, Not every student was bad.
Keep at it my friend. Your success will be the biggest slap on their faces. By success I don't even mean your marks or the job or package you get, but your long term well-being, happiness, stability and health. Take care and stay strong.

But my class mates (specially brahmin) used to ask my caste. Since I was class topper. No one dare to speak in front of me. But i used to see how they insult otjer SC/ST students.
But still i faced multiple rejection in life. I liked many girls, they liked me back but once thry knrw my caste. They ignored me like I am some kind of moron.
I studied for only 8 months. but i used to lose in front of one girl. Who was taking class since 4 years. In farewell she got award for her excellence in class. I was not even mentioned, When i was only student who studied in multiple batch, became biggest competetor of that girl within 8 months.
It hurts. In 2023 casteism has taken ellite transformation.

I think the mai reason behind this is that, these students gets enrolled in coachings at very early age , where they learn only science related stuffs, they aren't taught how bad these things are, like in schools. In schools we get to learn various social issues and their pros and cons by subjects like social studies, which I think they have'nt learnt since class 9. So , government should take strict action against these coachings who enroll students from early age. Coaching should enroll students only after class11.

I never heard about this when i was studying there. However there might have been some discrete case. But one friend told me that in NIT Allahabad, there is a caste discrimination and that too is mainly done by professors.

This is not limited to IITs . It is rampant in all govt. colleges. I belonged to OBC creamy layer and hence didn’t avail any reservation yet I was subjected to casteism. Students from UP and Bihar are utter casteist . Unfortunately students from UP and Bihar forms the majority in any govt. college because they are the ones who do preparation in numbers in Kota or Delhi.
This is because Students of SC and ST caste selected in IIT by their caste kota or reservation system and in General caste students have selected by their mind and hard work instead of any reservation advantage and by this The students who are most eligible for IIT from general caste have to choose NIT and other institution except IIT

You can make lame winner by shorting the goalpost but you can't expect lame to sprint faster in the world race court where people comes through hardwork and merit ,Indian have to focus more on making their educational institutes better so that everyone get level playing field rather than just demanding reservation

I think problem is ...reserved student feels heavy competition from unreserved students...bcoz others are getting their seats at high marks...now there is no reservations in company placement...so they feel unsecured... reserved student who tend to do hardwork will not face such problem... problems for only who dont want to hard work...bcoz iit govt. Job ke liye nahi he...yaha only hardwork and talent bolega..even general student who dont want to hardwork will not get job
जब संविधान में लिखा हुआ है कि जाति धर्म लिंग के आधार किसी तरह का कोई भेदभाव नहीं किया जाएगा तो यह आरक्षण अब पूरी तरीके से समाप्त कर देना चाहिए किसी भी व्यक्ति का सिलेक्शन सिर्फ उसकी योग्यता के आधार पर होना चाहिए

If an sc get 1000 crl rank and get cse at iit Delhi he don't face discrimination
But a sc gets 30k rank get into iit Delhi low branch , he is discriminated which is not caste based discrimination but rank based
Even though there might be caste discrimination, but IITs and NITs do provide an opportunity for the students to leave the country and become a bit free from caste related things.
But interestingly they took it to even the western countries. Such is the mentality of the jativadis.

Just yesterday There was a news of 300 migrant students from india, who went to Canada on false admission. You can get admission with heavy donation outside of india. Now they are finding lawyers to prove themself innocent.
General means financial secure family, who can afford millions of collage fee, but still want to study in govt funded collage like IIT, IIM why ? Cause education level of these institutions are high.

If you think you are too intelligent. Than why you are not setting any private collage in india to get education facility like IIT, IIM ?
Simple- You never work country. You only work for own caste benefit. After earning black money. You send your DNA to another country, Where he gets any small job and enjoy life on saving money earn through black money. Till you loose all money and return back to india to loor again.

ये होता था, होता है, और होता रहेगा क्योंकि जिन बच्चो की अच्छी रैंक होती है वो कभी भी नही चाहते की में कमतर रैंक वाले बच्चे के साथ रहु। ये सब परवरिश के साथ सीखने को मिलते है और उसी को बच्चे जिंदगी में उतारते है।
I'm an IITian so I have seen such type of things many times...Simple reason is that SC/ST category students get admission despite having less marks in JEE, JAM, and GATE. But they have to compete those students who have excellent marks in competitive exams. In classroom, everyone consider as same because one Professor gives same contents for all but SC/ST category students can't handle so much pressure.
One more things, tuition fee is free for SC/ST category students and all facilities are also provided same still they are unable to compete because they believe that if admission is obtained with low marks, then one day even the best government job will be available with low marks.
I don't think so about such discrimination rather, they isolate themselves in such a way that what is the point of joining a group of highly educated people when the work is being done cheaply.
Nowadays there is discrimination from both sides. If a highly qualified person is not given admission just by saying that he/she belongs to that caste or that he/she belongs to special caste, then obviously there will be a lot of discussion to be done because even the admission is given only on the basis of caste.
Last but not the least, Poor people of SC/ST are hardly able to take admission or benefit because rich SC/ST people suck everything in the name of poor SC/ST people.
Look brother reservation is a must thing for Sc/St candidates and it's their right

That student got failed 4/5 subjects. His colleagues were even helping him in studying to pass the exams but somehow couldn't cope up with the stress of study and took the harsh step. Somehow minimum qualifying marks should be in a criteria where the person passing the exams should not feel the pressure of exams after coming into the institution. Instead of filling the seats its Better to fill those with capability of passing the upcoming obstacles. Nowadays even from the certain section of society many come up with that level of intelligence and compete with all which is gud for a healthy competition.
