    In this video we take the CZ 457 Varmint MTR rifle I personally use for PRS22 competition. We show accuracy out at 50 yards on paper with SK Long Range Match Ammunition and talk about the rifle based on my personal experience. We shoot the SK Long Range Match in our 50 yard stock match ammo test with a stock CZ 457 MTR.
    Benefits to the 457 MTR over a traditional 457 rifle is the Turkish walnut stock with plastic pillars as well as the very accurate match chamber barrel.

    Great series of videos. I also shoot a 457 mtr I use a Harrell's tuner on it for BR 50-100 yards with Midas+ . Have been looking for mid grade stuff that may work in my rifle, during hard times. Your videos have been a lot of help, thank you & keep up the great work.

    I installed a YoDave trigger spring on my cz 457 mtr, it went from an incredible 1lb 2oz lightest stock pull to a consistent 8 oz. I have not shot with the new trigger spring set-up yet but I think results will be good.

    I shoot the Norma ammo often, it's available at a lot of the stores here in central Indiana. This TAC-22 isn't their match ammo. They actually have a Norma Match-22. It doesn't run quite as hot as the TAC-22. I'm shooting a slightly modified Ruger 10/22, just a trigger and bolt upgrade. Everything else is factory.

    My MTR seems to do very well with most ammo, similar groups like yours. But anything non matchgrade or premium is all over the place. I just wish mine shot the budget ammo a little better as its more addordable to shoot. But thank you for the series.

    Salut Josh,
    Excellent video as always. I appreciate how instructive you are re the “technicalities” ... standard deviation etc, the significance of “vertical spread” versus “windage spread”. What are your views re bullet lubricants? My CZ 457 MTR and CZ 457 Premium models both love SK and RWS match ammo, and as I keep saying CZ in Europe use RWS as their “test” ammo. SK and RWS ammo both have the same type of lubricant, which having loaded a mag or two does require that you “clean” your oily fingers. Is the lubricant itself a significant factor in terms of consistent MOA results?

  • @crstewart90
    @crstewart90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In your experience, are you getting any crazy flyers out of the CZ barrel between groups? My MTR will throw my first shot off roughly 3 - 3.5 inches if I let it sit for more than 10 minutes between groups. It does it almost every time. After the first shot, it’ll group sub-MOA at 50 yards with ease.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cold bore shots typically wander a bit from the group but 10 mins doesnt seem like it would be a cold bore again already
      Guess it depends alot on the enviornment etc. Best thing to do is just learn your barrel and its tendencies. If its printing cold bore same place each time adjust for the cold bore then shoot poa poi again

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But mine has not been as sensitive as yours. Cold bore is about 1" off and its usually first shot of the shooting session

      @@PursuitofAccuracy Once the barrel is warmed up, it’s a phenomenal shooter, but when I compete with some family in five shot groups, I’m getting killed by that first shot. This happened yesterday when it was sunny and 75. Infuriating. I’m thinking this match chamber needs more frequent cleaning when shooting the greasy SK ammo.

    Just done my R50 could be the best yet at 100m but you couldn't really split the R50 and long range match on the chronograph results pretty much the same oddy long range match seem to group vertical and R50 horizontal no idea why
    If you get hold of SK flatnose match that's always out shot long range match in my rifle at 50 but long range match is better at 100

    I have the AT One with the 16.5 inch barrel so what are your thoughts as to how this would transfer over to my rifle? I have been shooting Wolf Target Match when it was made by SK Lapua and it did really well but I want to get something better. I was seeing about 3/4 inch at 100 but I have heard of the SK Red Box doing within half an inch at 100 out of a stock 457. I know I'm probably best off buying a box of a lot of stuff and then buying a brick or two from there but I just gotta figure out which to order cause I dont want to go and buy a load of ammo that I wont shoot at all.
