I like to image the debriefing that Colonel Edwards gave to the Generals after this mission.
"Sirs, Dr Jackson has secured our supply of naquadah for the BC-303 program."
"Excellent! Were you able to estimate how many men we'll need to work the mine?"
    "None, sir."
    "I beg your pardon?"
"None, sir. The Unas have agreed to work the mine themselves," Hammond hides a knowing smirk.
"This ought to be interesting, continue Colonel"
"During Dr Jackson's initial negotiations, an Unas was shot and killed in a misunderstanding while trying to retrieve a personal item which he presumably lost near our position. The gunshots caused negotiations to break down. Dr Jackson returned and advised a retreat. We quickly found ourselves surrounded and outnumbered by several other, previously undiscovered, Unas tribes. They took up position on the ridge around the gate site. If we tried to dial out, they would have overrun us before we could evac. A tribal leader, 'Iron Shirt' I believe, came down from their perimeter to discuss the apparent duplicity of the misunderstanding. At Dr Jackson's insistence, we kneeled to show respect, pointing out this was how their social order works. He then resumed negotiations. After an uncomfortable and tense several hours he informed me that he believed we had a deal. He'd agreed on our behalf to stop desecrating their sacred ground. And in exchange they agreed to honor their dead by helping to defeat their ancestor's killers, the Gould. By working the mine themselves and turning over all the naquadah to us. Dr Jackson believes they'll prove to be valuable allies if we treat them with honor and respect. He also believes they'll be capable of learning to work our mining equipment."
"That's one hell of a story Colonel. Good work!"

ehhh... He should of lost any ability for an offworld command in the future and possibly even his commission entirely, for gross negligence and blatantly endangering his entire command. He persistently ignored Daniel's advice for no other reason than pride, and could of prevented any deaths/violence entirely by simply exercising the advised caution. At this point in the series, Daniel is not just another egghead advisor to the program, he is THE authority on offworld aliens and cultures, and even the President knows to take his advice seriously.

If we get a Stargate sequel/revival series or miniseries, one thing I really want is a minor character that is an Unas SG-team member. I say minor character, because a full main cast member with that full makeup can be a hassle, though I suppose that didn't stop FarScape.
We were shown they're intelligent, and able to speak English when taught (the first Unas we meet is host to a Goa'uld who has no problem speaking English, so their vocal chords can clearly handle it) and an Unas team member would show the progress of the Stargate setting as Tau'ri humans become ever-more advanced, they're reaching the stage of the Star Trek Federation by integrating (non-human) aliens into their ranks.

      That would be awesome !
But I don't have high hopes for a new show.
And you gotta think, what will be the premise ?
Our galaxy is secured, Asgard galaxy is safe, Ori Galaxy would be in turmoil but still nothing crazy (I assume the Ori had conquered their entire galaxy), Pegasus (Atlantis) has a deal with the wraith splitting the galaxy 50/50.
So I mean no major conflicts, and doing a copy paste of SG1 wouldn't work.
My thoughts are, do a show 60-75 years into the future. Humanity has massive fleets of ships that they are sending out to the galaxies. One fleet to each galaxy to maintain peace and order, similar to way the Asgard did.
But than in the Pegasus galaxy some wraith start breaking the treat here and there. Minor infraction here and there. But Earth respond with an attack fleet and goes on a rampage vs the wraith, to the point where its genocidal. Than the main group you follow start to realize this, and stand up to stop it. End up stopping it, but the death tole was high and, by the end everyone realized the horror that they had committed.
Forcing SGC to adapt. By the end humanity has changed for the better and is truly taken over the mantle from the Asgard and the ancients before them. The very last episode you hear reports of humans ascending all over the galaxy, very small numbers on the whole, but still happening.

Is this is episode actually called Enemy Mine? Or is that just a callback from the poster of this clip, to the really awesome film of the same name? Given the makeup for these aliens, I'm guessing it's an intentional callback to that film. BTW, if you haven't seen the film Enemy Mine, with Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Junior, you are missing out. Seriously, track down that film and watch it. Don't watch a trailer for it, because all the ones I've found online spoil the entire plot. Just watch it. Fantastic film.

So humans went there , killed some of them , then established a deal in which the natives would work for the humans in exchange for what exactly ?
Or it mey be the Unas leader probably expected more humans will come if there was a conflict and a big war will erupt killing even more of his people so i guess he used that moment of power to actually hide their weakness and this is why the deal was so sweet.
