I took it to a local shop that sells and fixes Seikos and they didn't know about much about the movement. I emailed their service center in NJ, we will see if they will take it.
Just heard back from Seiko Service Center in NJ, they said they can service it, even though it is discontinued. The service cost is $185 not including shipping etc.
I like your videos on the sweeping second hand watches. Do you recommend the modern Precisionist series or the vintage Seiko 5S21 series for reliability?
The Bulova Precisionist is in production and bigger at least 40mm if you are comfortable with the size. The most affordable version is the bronze 3 hander at $260: amzn.to/47mvVRK. If you like the retro look, take a look at the new Jet Star line. The Seikos with 5S21 movements are now 30+ year old but much smaller and thinner if that's a must have. They do come up on eBay ebay.us/RJMCUD for around $200 and up. The question is if their movement still sweeps super smooth like my Dolce or like stutters like my pulsometer and needs oil / service.
