As a retired competitive gymnast, I’m crying so hard. The decision to stop was so hard for me since I had dedicated countless hours to the sport, and I can’t imagine how much harder it is for a literal Olympian. I swear, Nile is probably going to do a Chelsie Memmel and well see him back in 10 years or something :)
I for one hope that Nile takes a few years off and sees if he still craves to come back. If in two years his body feels good and he still desires to compete, he can pull a Chellsie Memmel and come back. If not, he'll be a great coach/motivator/gym owner/whatever else he wants to do in life!
I'm a 50 year old man over here with tears in my freakin eyes! Sally, stop! You started and I joined in... lol... I know this video is damn near a year old, but, Nile, you are freakin amazing! And you have an incredibly beautiful supportive and loving family. Just for shits and giggles, you should compete one more time. Let it become your last hurrah! I live in the U.S and I'm freakin proud of you! I can just about imagine how proud your mom and dad are of you for having a child of theirs literally stand on top of the world and become a legend at such a young age.
I love how supportive and loving your family is. I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for Nile and you’re all handling it gracefully and with appreciation for the amazing journey and accomplishment his career was. He changed the game and I doubt he’ll stop now just because he’s officially retired from competing.
I was just watching Niles vlog when your notification popped up. I’ve seen the pain, body and mental that gymnastics has caused Nile just by watching his vlogs and it’s not the end, it’s the beginning. Nile has so much potential as a businessman and an entrepreneur and can’t wait to see what he kills at doing next.
I had a career as a professional singer in Los Angeles. I had loved singing since I was 5 years old. Then one day one of my vocal cords became paralyzed and that was the end of my dream career. It took time, but I've dealt with the loss and today I remember the good performances, forgive myself for the bad ones, and find other things to interest me. Nile, you will get through this. You have tremendous support. Use it.
Sat here bawling but it is obviously the best option for him. He is such a role model and are living proof for people like me with mental health issues that you can come out the other side a better version of yourself. I'm sure we are still going to see him do great things with his own gym and the channel. Just because he isn't competing any more does not mean that it's the end of being an inspiration to many. He isn't disappearing off the face of the Earth. xxx
The pride a parent feels because of their childrens achievments is something only a parent knows. Best wishes for the future and please bring back Nile and Neil vlogs x
You guys. Ya'll are so precious. I love watching you all together once more. Sally, I have kids about the same age, I get you. I understand those tears. Love the love you all have for each other.
Followed Nile for years and as sad as it is he needs to do whats right for him and his body/health. Good luck in what you choose going forward and I'm sure he'll pop up on your channel doing what he does best and thats inspiring people and getting people to live what is a brilliant sport. I did gymnastics as a kid and loved every competition and training session. Good luck The Wilsonator!!!!!
Oh wow!!!!!! You've come so far Nile and I want to wish you (and your family) the best of luck for your future :) Good luck and remember - train smart, keep it real 😃🦾
I was totally Sally-luv while watching this and Nile's video! 😪😪 I feel like I know you all personally after following your various channels for so long. I was right there with you reacting to the video. Love to you all! ❤❤
Fantastic video. Best thing to do, sit down as a family, the way it's always been throughout his career, reflecting, laughing, crying. You are an absolutely incredible family. You guys make all your viewers feel like one of the family. I feel like I've been on the journey with you all. Sending all my love to all of you. This is only the beginning of so many more opportunities ❤️❤️❤️
i cried when i just saw the title the other day... like for real super sad, I was never a really good gymnast or anything but I was competing until I was 13 and I remember how sad it was to give up the sport you love so I couldn't even imagine what it's like for Nile at the level he was at
You have had a amazing journey and achieved so much now your new journey begins .you have to amazing parents and sister you can always go back never say never I remember that day when my daughter decided to give up trampoline and dmt it was hard like her she achieved a lot and dedicated her life to her sport she 20 now but as I said to her you can always go back never say never .we’re all proud of you Nile
I can't believe he stopped. I still hope to see him do fun gymnastics even tho his retiring. Im defently not at the level he is at gymnastics or being doing it as long. But ive still managed to get sore knees. Hips. Arms and back. We are so proud of him and all he has gone though. He is so humble. Love u Wilson family lots of love from Australia xx u will have a great future im sure of ut
Joanna I would love to give you all the gift of a vivid dream of the favorite competitions throughout the years just so you all can feel the feels one more time! But you know what the man said “He can change his mind!” What a wonderful family vlog ♥️♥️♥️♥️
A family of legends right here ❤❤ and that's not about medals and grades even though they are amazing its because you have been through the mill together and come out stronger ❤❤
there was tears at the brink on my eyes lid but when joanna said about the meams will be created 😂😭, that was a pure joy, thanks very very much wilson army
I was just watching it earlier 😂😂😂 it was emotional but amazing will you do the words biggest mat tower and furnish it you could put foam block s as a path (please)
I've thought this watching all your guys vids but I love the relationship you an nile have. I know lots of siblings and mosta them have horrible relationships. Your parents defo did a lot of things right when raising you two:)
Your Momma made this old fart cry! I can see a few factors in your Brother's retirement from Gymnastics, and please correct me if I am wrong. 1. Reoccurring problems with previous injuries. 2. Mental Health, as part of the results of trying to recover from injuries. 3. The Pandemic/Lockdowns delaying/preventing Competitions.
I'm asking myself.. You only retired from competitive gymnastics, right? Or are you completely retiring from gymnastics? I think it's a weird concept of giving up competitive sports. I used to do competitive dressage. I "retired", gave up the competitions. The weird thing is, since then I'm on top of my game. My horse is in the best shape ever. And because of Nile I discovered gymnastics and now I am in a better shape too and actually enjoying myself during training. Lots of love from Austria!
What’s quite surreal to me, and I don’t want it to be taken the wrong way, but it’s the fact he had one of his walls in his apartment painted with him at Tokyo winning the gold but now he’s retired
Not clickbait but: tweak this one think in your routine and you can win. I have,, is it a preposition? I have a suggestion as an Amereican (a yank) totally unqualified to make but I know it is one that you haven't tried.
I don't get it, is Nile dying or is he just retiring? By all the crying, it makes me think he must be on the way out. If Nile is just retiring, get a grip, lol just joking. From what I have seen of Nile, and I have watched many of his tube videos. I think he has great potential at being either an Olympic training gymnast coach, the very physical kind, on style and accuracy. Or being a mental training coach offering a healthy winning attitude and encouragement for stress relief and "Keeping it Real" 'mental gymnastics' or both. I think 'Olympic Niles' own experience along with great Family and friends have honed a talent that must be used for the 'greater good'. Train Smart- Keep It Real!!
Message for Neil and Sally; Job well done, as parents you must be so proud to have raised two amazingly gifted and humble kids (yes, adults now).

Time for a Nile Wilson action figure with gym equipment and medals. Different gym outfits and make sure it is extremely flexible. Would love that.

Tell him he's talking nonsense at only 24 and to get back in the gym.
