The barn roofs work the best the four corner ones with the little church looking tops, or any other one in similar shape, they completely cover the elevator top and look cute lol.
I have yet to try these out but using the old tile sets you could use the gap between floors to place the power wires for lighting your structure. Just build floor/roof as normal and use the top/bottom mount power conduits between the floors. Filling the gaps on the outside may be interesting without mods though.

Hello OxHorn thank you for all your videos i just found you a month ago. But i was wondering if you had any issues with your elevators where the button are above the cabin part? or any of your subscibers have had this happen. I use no mods
I actually used concrette with them and to fill the gaps you can just use double upper floors.

+Oxhorn It does have a paper thin gap but you really can't notice at all. It can be a bit tricky to get them to snap the way you want them to, but basically you just have to build from the bottom up.

Maaaan you explained everything I had questions abt in your 1st minute!! I just knew I was doing something wrong and that's why I had the gap. I wasted so much concrete!
Don't know if anyone mentioned but if you attach a thicker floor tile next to elevator you then can attach the thinner floor tile over the top of the lift and that gives you a flat ceiling over it.

Did you know that you can have all the lights illuminated on all the buttons? Whatever level the elevator is on, use the button and it will illuminate and stay on.
What I really need/want is a modular design, I want a elevator capable of going up to the height limit of the build area, otherwise for many spots its worthless
I feel like elevators and the generators powering them would be a big target during raids. Can you imagine if you are on the fourth floor, and someone cuts off the power to the elevator?

It would've been cool if you could connect power to each of the different stops on an elevator to make it easier to get power in taller buildings.

Pretty sure I've seen 'wall fillers' in my crafting menu.... walls sections iirc. They will fill those gaps nicely. Anyone confirm?
I love the elevators, but I've had the 4 story ones bug out on me 4 times now. 3 times it's been that the floor buttons on the main elevator suddenly appear 1 floor up. However this last time, it bugged out so I scrapped it and all the floor numbers remain so now I will need to look for console commands to delete them I guess. I hear this issue does not plague the 2 & 3 floor ones. only the 4. Not sure if this is due to me trying to mix with other tile sets or whether the 4 floor ones are just bugged.
Thx, was having trouble figuring out wtf they were supposed to work with...was driving me crazy. I've never used the warehouse or barn tile sets and after looking thru them, I remember why; far too many holes. Where's the 'wall' in this wall?!! LOL So, yeah, I definitely wish they worked with the other tiles. All I ever use is metal & concrete, but still, thanks for clearing that up.
it snaps to pre-built floors, build the floors first then the elevation.
How are you getting the elevators to place AT ALL on Spectacle Island? It won't even give me that option. The elevator never shows up no matter where I'm looking, and it's royally pissing me off since it's literally the only thing I want to build.

Weird my 4 floor elevator at red rocket was fine. Also I think they work with Vaults.
i find a way to do regularfloors and walls on the elevator but it cost me 2 hours of figuring out how to do it... i do it with stacking concrete foundations to manage the gaps between the elevator floors, its kind of glitchy but it looks good
I got the 4 floor elevator to snap to Atrium floors in Vault 88, now trying to figure out what snaps to the floor layers.
Just use upper floor twice. First snap it to the walls then run your electricity and ride the elevator up. Lay down a second layer of upper floor snapping it to the elevator. Boom no gaps!
What I found that sucks is that the 2nd floor elevator can slightly sink in if you level it with a floor already made (I did this in mechanist lair) but the 4 floor elevator will not. That really bummed me out.
I really wish they worked with concrete. I know you can do 2 floor elevators but I don't like having a 2 floor elevator on every floor. My house is 4 floors but the 4 floor elevator has too big of gaps between the doorway and the floor so with each floor you have to add more and more steps just to get inside.
elevator roof. use the scaffolding to get yourself to the height of the elevator then choose the smaller scaffold to just take it over the roof. notice: I don't have the dlc this is an educated best guess. let me know if it works
I have a mod install that does just that plus it as a teddy bear to drive it
yea they have pretty much negated the first sets of building assets, they need to do an update and make then as tall as the new walls, they also need to include a hald walk like the concrete has. i have this bug with the elevator where the buttons sit above the elevator.....

I guess I’m confused. I’m super late to the conversation because I haven’t played this game in years and now I’m replaying it and I have been putting in more time than ever before but I thought settlers can’t use the elevator? So how could you build a settlement on the overpass and settlers can use it? Because I’m using an elevator for the first time trying to build a room that only I can access to keep my stuff safe. 😭 is it impossible? Settlers keep stealing my power armor that I’m trying to put on display at Sanctuary Hill.

4 floor elevator has no connection points but once it's down it creates snap points idk why

I was in sanctuary and the 4 floor wouldn't snap to the floors there either. It's bizarre. Also, do you know if NPCs use elevators? I ask because I don't think they do.

How do I power these if I build a structure around them? I tried putting a conduit on each side of the wall then connecting one side to power and the other to the lift but it won't work
The "Skooled Zone" channel has several videos on the "rug glitch" that might solve your problem.
have the elevator buttons ever completely disappeared from the control panel for you?... and the 4 floor snapping issue is so annoying.
Yes. To fix this missing elevator buttons, select the elevator in the workshop and move it around. Instead of placing it, press tab to release it and exit the workshop. Buttons reappear!

ºno elevator music
I built some 4 floor scycrapers with shops on various levels but it seems like my settlers won't use the elevator? A lot of them just stood outside of the tower. There are a few people in the tower but only the ones that started there when I fast traveled there and I've never seen any of my settlers actually move to different floors. Anyone else have this problem? Can settlers only take the stairs?

katsupoi24 I'm glad settlers can't use elevators. I build a small tower for my character in most settlements put a bed down and store ammo weapons and fusion cores in it and when you use stairs, even when their not connected and you have to jump, settlers still end up in my bed and are able to steal my ammo....sorry but my settlers don't need 2000 of an ammo type and a weapon I was saving for me to screw around with. :/

I wish they were waaaaaaay more flexible, and not just withe different tile sets. For instance, making wheel chair elevators for hospitals (although there r now ramps for that...). I also wish they would go taller and have powered doors to get inside

Couldn't you over time develop a character without any mods at all and use this for your training videos?
i built my first 3 floor apartment building at coastal cottage out of concrete. because of the layout it had, stairs didn't work quite as i wanted to so i decide to remove them completely and replace them with an elevator. i built the concrete building as i wanted but noticed that the upper floors did not match the elevator level. took me another similar building to realize that i needed to connect the floors and walls to the elevator shaft lol still the space in between floors doesn't bother me since it's barely noticeable, i'm just pissed that the settler AI can't use the elevator to get to their beds. they just sit below staring like retards at the ones sleeping on the lower level. you'd think with all the current gen tech they could make non-retarded settler AI but nooo
iAmDaos ikr I have 3 stairways going up each floor on my 5 story building, when the settlers go to bed, they all stand there lined up, taking 50000 years to single file up the stairs. they won't use the other available stairs idk why. they're hopeless -_-

I never had a problem with it, but honestly, settlers do not use elevators in my games. They just never use them.

My 4th Floor elevator keeps glitching for me. The floor buttons would end up floating above the elevator. Also sucks that settlers are too dumb to interact with the elevators, Lol.
If you move the elevator after placing it, the buttons glitch out. You need to enter workshop mode, select it with E, move it, and then release it with TAB. This will fix the buttons.
***** I tried it, didn't work. Im on console if that makes any difference. I had to store it and bring it out again in order to fix it.

Nope :c I'm trying sending some settlers to shops and beds in the 4,3 or 2 floor with the elevator and nothing. They just stand in front of the elevator or some. Then I went to my bed (for 2 hours), and when I went back to the elevator .... all settler are in the floor 4,3 and 2... magically. So, your settlers and your companion CAN'T use elevator... !!

Yeah the 4-level elevators are super-glitched. Buttons disappear if you log out and log back in.
building system in all fallout 4 is one big crap,
really bad design from bethesda, ideas area great but they dun finish it properly seriously i spent so much time building my castle to 3 floors 1 whole day fck it and finally realised the elevators dun fit
