I could see the wire attached but no power, so at your suggestion I attached a wire from the power conduit to a separate light pole to realize there was no power to the conduit. So, I pulled the bottom wall off, put a floor back in and the wall back, and I have power, but if I remove the floor I lose power again. Fortunately, I am building further out in that direction so I would need the floor there anyway.
I got the elevator glitch to work but had to put a vault floor next to the elevator below the conduit to "connect" it to the Vault. You can also just put it underneath the elevator itself.
You can also have an atrium floor piece under your elevator without it interfering with the elevator's fit. Then the elevator should.definitely get power through the vault floor.
I'm watching your let's build vault 88 series, since this is your newest video, I'll ask this here. When you're doing your QA, could you attempt to not stop playing while you talk? I'm sitting here waiting you you to make your q by q bathroom, and you're talking about canadia. :/
I have the elevator setup the same way you do except mine starts from the second floor instead of the first floor. So I have a 2 floor elevator setup exactly how you do in this video, and I know for sure that I have power on the 2nd floor in my vault b/c my lights all light up. No matter what type of wire glitch I use, the elevator isn't getting power. Why did they have to be so lazy with this DLC? I mean, I'm sure if this doesn't give people enough of a headache, I'm sure they'll get more of a headache once they realize that the starting point they give us to build our vault off of makes the whole vault crooked instead of straight no matter how you build it I guess it was too much to ask for them to fix the issue where the ceiling lights don't correctly snap to the ceiling, it was probably too hard for them to give us a vault elevator too instead of this workshop elevator that looks like crap.
I couldn't get it to work no matter how hard I tried so the same side in the video i put a wall with a window and filtered through a wire from a generator that i built beside it then i built a little box around the generator... 😛
If anyone is still having issues with this I got mine to work by flipping the walls so that the vault power conduits are facing whatever they need to be connected to, then turning them back around after I've connected them. For example I have my elevator set up the same way shown in this video. The elevator is connected to a conduit on the outside wall and that conduit is connected to a wall that is INSIDE my vault. I guess the vault conduits are more lenient with wires going through walls
Yes that also was a technique I used. However as W.D. suggested I also had to move around conduits until I got it powered. Well as long as I got it installed eventually!
On PC you can open the console, click the wall panel that would be blocking you from connecting to the conduit on the elevator, and type disable. exit the console and the panel will disappear. Connect the power to the conduit and then go back into the console and don't click on anything and type enable and then exit the console and the panel will fade back into existence and the connection will be there.
This glitch didn't work for me no matter what I did!!! I had to do it manually my putting a source next to the elevator then attaching it through a different wall😅

It does. I play the game on PC currently, and it definitely still works. If It's not working for you then you're doing something wrong. If you're trying to use it while wiring up an elevator in your vault 88, it's difficult for a lot of people to make it work in that instance, but that does not mean it doesn't work at all.
@@WastelandDovahkiin I know how the glitch works. I've used it extensively in the ps4 version and just verified that it works just fine there. In the PC version it doesn't even allow wires to be highlighted when you have a wire in hand to connect. It will ONLY highlight the things it can connect to. Without the glitched highlight it doesn't work.
Well it’s seven years since this video was published and it’s been very helpful. I’ve been playing fallout 4 all this time with mods but not the expansions. So I finally decided to get contraptions and some other expansions. Now I’m learning about them and am building an outside vault. What an absolute headache I’m enduring. Anyway I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed but I am persistent. I get there if I just don’t quit. I noticed a slight gap between the mega generator and the overseers residence. I’ve been bashing my head against a brick wall until I spotted this. I’m going to try glitching a power line from the pickup on the generator through the residence wall to a conduit inside. If this doesn’t work I’m going to build a fusion generator for the residence. Wish me luck.
I'm currently in the process of following your Vault 88 build on the Xbox Series X, and I've been using a mod (that's also available on PS4) which allows to have wireless power/lights. However, still need to apply the modded switch to the elevator (I placed mine on the bottom right side (as you enter the ground floor) of the mid wall so the wire doesn't get in the way when using the lift to go up floors. I've spent like 10 hrs and 58 mins so far on following your build, currently on episode 5. I have my PS4 on as I switch back and forth while using the YT app on PS4 (can't link it to my darn Xbox for some stupid reason!) Anyway, glad I found your channel. Been wanting to have a good Vault 88 for ages.

I did the wire glitch and it worked. I wiped out my game. Now I can't get the glitch to work on my elevator, I've rebuilt three times (one because I lost my buttons while hooked up to a generator). I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've stopped your video a lot and went step by step over and over. I know the only working part in this equation is me but for the life of me I'm not getting it. Anyone else having this problem.I can power the light from my vault connector so I have power. I can see the wire attach to the elevator connector and a red spark then when I press triangle the wire is back between the two connectors I used to stretch the wire. Any suggestions.
If anyone is still trying to do this in 2020, just drop a floor at the bottom of the elevator. That way, power is transferred to the elevator shaft walls from the vault.
I tried everything but don't seem to be getting any power on my vault just in some places I have put connectors on the walls and it doesn't work. Any help on how to get power?
I finally got mine working. I didnt have power conduits on the walls close enough to the elevator to bring power through the walls to the elevator. Once I added them on the walls and got closer the the elevator, it powered up.
The way I got it to work was to just put one of the green floor units on the Atrium tab right under the elevator. I selected it and it just snapped into place inside the shaft, under the elevator. The floor unit does not affect the elevator in any way and it covers the dirt.

is there ever going to be a fix for the elevator glitch because I keep putting in new elevator but the buttons keep disappearing ???? it's very annoying !!!!
To prevent it, make sure you always leave your elevator on the bottom floor before leaving your settlement. So far this has worked for me. The only time the buttons have ever glitched for me is when I leave the elevator on the top floor.
Hannah Ararbzadeh here's a solution turn the wall near the buttons around that has the vault conduit and attach the wire the flip the wall around and it should clip through turned back around again worked for me
The wire glitch still works on XBone following patch 1.7 as well, and thank Bog for it! I've used the colour cycling lights in my Vault 88 corridors and the glitch allow me to not have wires dangling all over the place. Now that I know this glitch it has become indispensable.
Thanks for this video. I'm currently still building Vault 88 and your tutorial/guides are a massive help. I've had some issues with the wire glitch not connecting but after a couple attempts it always works fine. I'm up to the cafeteria and have been following my build similar to your Vault with the minor changes. I put a window wall on the wall that you have all the pictures on and I just took the wall completely out for the front so it's like an open cafe not just a room. Anyway thanks for the help. Love your work.

None of this worked on Xbox. Just put a generator near it. Saves you an hour of frustration

It does. I play the game on PC currently, and it definitely still works. If It's not working for you then you're doing something wrong. The wire glitch still works!
So i did some testing, when you grab the wire, grab it near an end, not the middle. This has produced reliable results for me on PC.
I was suffering for ages, what you have to do is while you are selecting the wire your cursor must also be looking at the conduit if that makes sense.

i had the elevater bug where the numbers was missing i just saved my game and reloaded and it did fix the issue.
I finally figured out how electricity works in a vault and I got my elevator to work by adding one floor piece to the left of my elevator

Make sure you build the elevator "on top" of a floor piece. I found that to be my mistake with the power issue.
