I have 2 of these as well. If you haven't done this already, update all three of the available firmware updates, which you can only do from the Bluetti app. These updates will most likely fix most problems, such as periodic overloads. Also, which solar panel (panels) are you using? Check to make sure that the open circuit voltage (Voc) does not exceed 28 volts DC. I had a periodic overload issue prior to doing the firmware updates and haven't observed that issue repeating after running the updates. The Bluetti PV200 panel will get about 183 watts, depending upon the temperature the panel reaches in full sun. It's Voc is 26.1 volts. Most or all 12 VDC panels (17~20 Voc) will work. Also, Hobotech tested the PV input with a variable DC supply which showed that the PV input cuts off when the voltage applied exceeds 28 volts. Hope you get it figured out,or replaced by Bluetti.
Just bought the EB3a a couple of months ago along with the 68W panel, and mine does not have this problem. Solar charge works ok. Firmware installed when I purchased appears to be already the current version.
Did you do the two latest firmware updates? I was told to do them by the Bluetti Community on their website. The firmware updates were supposed to correct a couple of issues the EB3A had - including the solar issue.
Yes, mine does that but I pull the plug when not in use, have up to date firmware. Mine starts charging after the Renogy 200watt portable panel hits about 20volts. When thick cloud came over it still charged down to 7watts or so.
I have two of these and haven't experienced this issue. However, one of them I have sporadic 'overloading' issue. I have this one particular EB3A quarantined off so that only 2 monitors, 1 T480s laptop and fioptics wifi router on this unit. At most, it pulls 75watts in USB mode. Then sporadically, it shuts off due to 'overload' as indicated on the display. Not sure what is going on. If someone else has experienced this issue, would love a reply.
Just received mine yesterday. Only have modem and router connected for usb purposes. Fan comes on every few minutes which is quite annoying. Just now saw that had no internet because of an overload error. Pulling about 28 watts max! I got this on sale for $210 soI thought I snagged a deal. It can’t seem to handle being used as a usb, which is why I got it. Also there’s an issue with the app not working so I can’t receive any firmware updates. I think I will be returning mine.
Post an update if you find a solution. I have the same problem with a rigged-up setup using a Harbor Freight solar panel and it's charger. Unless the sun is direct on a cloudless day, the charger is more effective at discharging than charging.
I built a mediocre MPPT type charger for a 20w panel that has been running for a few weeks setup in a breadboard. I made a PCB in easy EDA but have not milled it out yet. I'm somewhat afraid improving my charger that is the answer... The $2 PWM charger I had the panel hooked up to actually didn't do a terrible job but it was setup for lead acid and would cut charging off at a lower voltage. the bluetti may be going back to amazon. 60Wh of standby power is insane.
it appears to be current or power (I*V) , the panel can be 22v but it will not start if it can't push around 1A of current. Once it starts it is fine for the rest of the day with lower currents.
i have 2 of these units with the same issues. yes they are both updated/ they start to self discharging through solar if you leave the panel plugged in .wont charge through solar at all now. tried calling customer service about this.junk!!!!!! thanks to all the glowing reviewers. at least it will charge through the wall but then its not a solar generator then...
Anyone noticing that while wireless charging that the top of the Bluetti EB3A and the phone get really really hot! I did not check the temperature then, but I was using the unit in UPS mode during some stormy times and while using only 40 W going to my router and Internet box and in a 77°F room the top of the EB3A was 104°F. The unit is only rated to a maximum of 104°F. Is my unit the oddball or is this normal?
Are you saying that the input current has to be greater than one amp for it to register and hold a charge? Also if you leave the plug connected, are you saying that it will discharge even though the panel is in direct sunlight?
it seems that it needs something like 1A of current in the morning before it start charging. After the initial 1A i think it can actually charge with less power from the panel and the LCD screen will time out, but before that point it just burns power checking the PV input for the right amount of current.
I had the same problem with the input light flashing and it not charging. I returned the first EB3A and I'm having the similar problem with the second one. The app says it's charging but the front of the EB3A shows not charging. tried different panels and several different cables and still not charging. Although now the input light is not flashing however, it's still not charging on the front panel of the EB3A. Even did the firmware update and still nothing.
Just received BLUETTI 68 watt solar panel to charge bluetti eb3a,checked u tubers & bluetti,no one mentioned this issue, what ever happen to honesty, this issue sucks, are they liars or thieves ? 3:09
I had the same problem. I turned off eco mode. That solved that. The next pronlem is if I use an inverter generator it doesn't like it. Try it even with a small load ac input and output dies.
I've seen every TH-cam video twice over, but somehow this one wasn't shown until after I bought the unit. And I too didn't see a single (!) reviewer so much as mention this issue, which is apparent on many forums, including Bluettis own forums. And two years later with current firmware (oct 2024 EU: ARM v2053,08, DSP v2052,11) the problem still exists for me. Also no threshold settings whatsoever in the bluetti app. So yeah thanks for nothing bluetti 👍 only option is to invest in another external mppt and cables..
Thank you for alerting people about this main problem. Actually, too late for me :( I already bought one 2 weeks ago and i discovered this major problem when plugging the solar panel. I contacted Bluetti but no answer until now Does anyone knows which is the latest version of firmware : I will try to update ? Thank you
Mine won't charge off of solar I ran it through a small charge controller with a battery and it did work I have had multiple problems with mine pretty well convinced they are junk
Bluetti refuses to speak to anyone. They literally force you to only communicate with them in writing. They keep their voicemail box full on purpose so that you cannot reach them by phone. Very poor to none customer service. I am experiencing the same thing with my solar charge input as well. Also, don't purchase their PV 200 Solar Panel to charge the EB3A. The Panel's Output Current exceeds the EB3A's Maximum Solar Panel Input Current.
I also have the same problem. I hook up their own Bluetti PV 120 Solar panel into the Barrel Plug and it won't charge. The Input light keeps on blinking. And the input wattage stays at 0000. Anybody have a solution. Or is the generator defective?
@@andrewj99 I'm pretty sure it's the panel. I am an apartment dweller. I have it hooked up on my window. It is not getting direct sunlight. I plan to bring it out today and expose it to direct sunlight. Will keep you posted. Thanks.
@@andrewj99 Hi Andrew. I brought the Panel out in direct sunlight. Just as I suspected. It needed direct sunlight to charge the EB3A. The Bluetti PV 120 charged it at roughly 90 Watts. Have a great evening.
Matching solar panels can be tough. I have a 36 silicon 100 watt solar panel attached to a cheap $100 Golabs R150, and every time when the winter hits below -25 celsius it will trip the "overvoltage" It also is completely innacurate percentage left but I do believe it charges at as little as two watts (to max 55 watts), which is nice when the sun first shines right to the end when the sun sets. Will try a hack this winter, placing a strip of electricians tape over a section of panel just to see if it will reduce voltage enough to work stable at -25 or lower.
Got mine about 10 days ago, and I can’t get it to charge from solar at all. I’m using a 100 watt Renogy panel that is within the EB3A’s specs and it will not charge. I’ve been emailing Bluetti support back-and-forth for the better part of a week. The last email was they asked me to try charging it via the car. The problem is they don’t supply a cable for that. I sent them back a picture of their users manual that shows they don’t supply the cable. It’s been crickets ever since. So now I’m trying to get a full refund via Amazon. Here’s my short video: th-cam.com/video/elX-bnjE2Xs/w-d-xo.html

Do u still have this eb3a? Is it still working well 2 years after u posted this video? Do u use it everyday and do u use it for heavy load ?

You nailed it Control circuit will not allow charge unless there is power within the unit batteries. I got $5000 invested in BE

does your charger/panel have a diode on the input? PV reverse current may also be a problem, should be able to see it with a multimeter.
