    I will say this, again and again! I’m so glad that I’ve found you!! I am learning so much!! From watching your videos. This topic on Alzheimer’s scares me, because , i’ve had a head injury, when I was 16 . My mom passed away at 91 from dementia. My education is graduating high school. I have always struggled with learning new things. I have been told I have a lazy mind, from teachers. Lack of self-confidence I believe plays in part of that thinking. I could go on , about the topic on self pity. I just want to say you are a wonderful person ! And teacher! I will continue, to learn more and more from watching your videos! Thank !! Dr. Taylor❤️

      Hey Lola! Ditto to all your fears, yours totally resonate with mine! (apart from your head injury age 16, mine were 2 aged 36) I don’t know where you are but i’m in the UK so luckily we don’t have insurance issues in the main🙏 I cared for my mom 12 yrs with Alzheimer’s she passed aged 86 5 yrs ago I had a long postponed full hysterectomy 2 months later and was given oral Premarin 0.625mg. I was changed to Zumenon 1mg (estradiol) Spring 2021 as the more modern Gyn lady I saw decided it was the way to go🤷🏻‍♀️ It has just been raised to 2mg as i’ve been having some lousy low estrogen symptoms and feeling horrible! It’s only day 21 today so i’m waiting and hoping for things to lift! I want to stay on Hrt forever as the fear of Alzheimers as you will know is so brutal THOSE memories don’t leave you😢 I do hope you’re doing good and getting all the optimal preventative treatment Hrt-wise that you can🙏😘Thank you Barbie you are the best and i’m so glad I found you! love from the other side of the pond 😊🇬🇧

    Wow just mind blowing. I am not surprised about the risk factors. I did not know some risk factors, especially the ones about sleep deprivation and social isolation. I can relate to the social isolation thing especially during the past year. Mental health is suffering greatly now. So sad.

      Most women have one or two risk factors on just about every list of risk factors. It all depends on which risk factors they are and how strong they are. That's what I help women with in consultations. Most women worry the most about the things they should worry about the least.

      Alzheimer's is so rampant because people aren't informed as to how and when to prevent it thank you so much for all you do to help change that. I have never heard anyone under 70ish mention concern for Alzheimer's.. I seriously appreciate knowing now is time to minimize the risks and I want to help inform others that estrogen loss equals brain loss but we can get around it and our bones as well. I'm learning and doing a bunch of new things including my nutritional needs and working on starting another village productive and enjoyable and it's great to understand that it helps my brain not only in the present but for the rest of my life. Hi Dr. Taylor, would you mind sharing your opinion on stopping HRT before surgery and when to resume - if you should stop. Sorry this question is not related to this video - but if you a general rule of yes or no on this, I'd appreciate your thoughts. Not asking about any specific person's risk factors, just an automatic yes or no overall. Thank you!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an individual matter, both for the person and the type of surgery. So you really need to have a consultation to put it into context. "Surgery" can mean many different things for many different reasons and for many different kinds of women.

    Just curious, Dr. B. Is the absence of estrogen a causative effect or correlational effect contributing to alzheimers? Are there studies to this effect? Thanks again for such an incredible education. You are a gift to women worldwide.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is absolutely causal. There are studies of all sorts showing all sorts of things. But none of them studied YOU. Why not pay attention to how your OWN BRAIN functions before and after you lost your estrogen?

    Dr. Taylor - this is an off-topic question, but I don’t know if you’ll see it if I post it under the video that dealt with phytoestrogens...
    I remember you taught us that they are much weaker than human estradiol and therefore not likely to be able to take up much space on receptor sites.
    I’ve been reading Dr. Fuhrman’s book “Eat for Life”. He mentions that lignans (phytoestrogens) in seeds “also increase concentration of sex-hormone binding globulin, which blunts the effects of estrogens.” (The over arching topic is breast and prostate cancer prevention.)
    My question for you: Will the increase of SHBG with lignan consumption interfere with the disease preventive effects of estradiol HRT? (I eat soy and various seeds daily and don’t want them to “tie up” the little estradiol I’m getting from my patch.) 😊

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is nothing about phytoestrogen that will interfere in any way with HRT. So you can ingest all you want. Enjoy!

    Interesting, especially as regards the alcohol consumption. My father, and my father in law, were both heavy drinkers… and both died of Alzheimer’s. They were also both on statins. Otherwise, they should have been protected in terms of educational background, physical fitness and social connections. This info makes me think of Dr. Amen’s brain scans of alcoholics-worse than drug addicts-and the reason why the doctor no longer drinks even one glass of wine.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, exactly the opposite! Statins increase your risk of Alzheimer's because they decrease the cholesterol everywhere in your body ... including your brain. The problem is that your brain thrives on cholesterol.

    Thank you for a very informative lecture! One thing that was not included on your risk factor chart but which Dr. Neil Barnard mentions is with regard to certain heavy metals (e.g., too much copper from a too-heavy meat diet or copper plumbing, etc., and aluminum, a known neuro toxin). Would you comment on this, Dr. Taylor?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not comment on this because it is not specific to Alzheimer's. If you have heavy-metal toxicity, it will function as a possible risk for a myriad of conditions.
