I just want you to know I regret skipping this event in 2019. Rewatching this video I legit believe this to be the best steam in the valley video made yet, and I'd love to someday get those angles!
I finally watched your valley video. I’m still more jealous of the shot at deep lock more then anything else! But glad to see someone else shot at the S curve.
It is by the memorial part over head bridge.... Can't really say that where they were was quite legal "public" property, but they are well out of the way from the train and there is no no trespassing signs at the sight. I will recommend parking at the nearby "BARC Akron" dog park and walking over as opposed to pulling off the side of the road and walking up to the tracks.
I've had good and bad experiences with them. 2018 was fight after the 844 incident and they were in full nothing goes mode. I heard 2019 wasn't too bad. But there is a cop in the pensula area that is always over zealous. No one has fun with him.

Yeah i read on Akrons Railroad clubs website they still were chasing people out of that spot but they though security was better this year. I didn't go. THAT was the shot i wanted last year when the volunteer told me i could be there and kicked me out. Honestly that was the part of the reason i didn't go this year to the valley. But i am glad to hear it was better this year. Maybe i'll return next year.
Action Set & Go! Railfanning & Other Cool Stuff it was crazy, there was barely any police presence Sunday, and the volunteers were extremely lax. Maybe it was because of the last day? Idk. Regardless I just happened to get really really lucky.
I understand that they want to keep the general public that knows nothing about trains safe. But they are going overboard with the volunteer and police presence
