I dunno. Id prefer someone who I began as friends with and where we grew an enormous love for each other over time and experiences. I wouldn’t want to just blindly fall for a person I felt I knew based on literally nothing yet
@@esshor. I don’t necessarily think it’s blind love. I think the person is more talkin about the aspect of findin someone who lights up your life and is someone you didn’t know, but know you need. This song is about the pure form of love, the poetic nature of falling for someone and not quite knowin why, but knowin it feels so right and so overwhelmingly beautiful.
When my husband and I met 33 years ago, we felt this way about one another-thus intense all consuming love and energy. We had three children and we had our ups and downs, mainly ups:) But he always had health issues, probably from childhood traumas, but we sailed on. However, he couldn’t battle his health any longer. In 2021 he crossed over, and while this shifted our unit, I still feel him. So the cosmic forces of our love still creates an energy field. So yes, this kind of love is real.
If not this life, perhaps the next:) That’s I believe Orpheus means when he says, I know you. My husband recognized me sooner than I did. I’ve heard this feeling compared to feeling like a person’s home.
I’ve loved the story of Orpheus and Eurydice ever since I read a small article about it in I think 6th grade English class. So naturally I became obsessed with this musical’s soundtrack when I found it. And then I finally saw a bunch of videos of the musical here on TH-cam and my goodness I am even more enchanted. I absolutely love the way that hadestown tells their story. And I love that they also include the story of hades and Persephone. It’s simply a beautiful musical and this song is my favorite one to watch.

The way Eurydice and Orpheus move about in this makes it almost seems like theyre just doing a rehearsal. If this is an actual day of performance, there should be choreographed and decided movements the characters should make during each scene. And they should stick with it. They both just look so awkward and clumsy
I respect your opinion, but I’d like to point out that in the context of the show the characters are both very young. Not children, but not far into adulthood either. They both are new to having relationship. Eurydice because she had to survive, and Orpheus because he was sheltered his entire life. Rest assured the awkwardness is intentional, and I’d also like to point out that Orpheus himself is just an awkward character, It’s shown throughout the show that’s his personality. Again no disrespect, just wanted to give some reasons for why the performance might seem like that.

Shes been in other relationships but shes always been left alone in them (and therefor is a really mistrusting character). The reason she'll get close and move away again is showing her fear and lack of trust. I mean, its not like learning to trust is a smooth process, its bumpy and gradual, and thats what this choreo show.
