To be fair, I did initially think Anaïs could have taken some artistic license with the ending. Maybe because Disney always does that with the wacky originals or because nothing about this production screams "we're going to retell this story exactly as was originally intended."
Let’s remember she started her adult life working in London. The level of absorption and she’s still developing as a person, technically speaking she’s only 24 now. 2-time Tony nomination, a Grammy award under her belt. Yeah!
yeah! i mean what marks orpheus' myth to me is the ending, so when they were talking so ominously abt a part in which ppl gasped i though they meant the part after wedding song in which they are kinda dancing but as an insinuation for sex lol
Fun fact: I saw hadestown in previews and when Eva came out at stagedoor, she had new changes and said, (I quote) "This is fucking insane" and that's the moment I fell in love with her
I love that Reeve acknowledged that he liked the change of Off-Broadway and London Orpheus to Broadway Orpheus because honestly the former was while confident almost douchey as opposed to the sweet innocent sincere character.
"they come expecting not to feel anything and then at the end they can't speak english" "and they're...English" *Eva busts out laughing* -- WHY did that make laugh so hard omg Also "[Patrick Page] has a voice that sounds like it's from the depths of hell" is THE most accurate sentiment. His voice is so deep its almost unhuman-like and honestly a little discomforting 😅
For the Broadway recording of the show, during His Kiss, The Riot I saw someone comment that they’re not sure if they should be turned on, or terrified, which I think accurately portrays his voice 😂
I don't think any Hadestown fans know this but Reeve Carney played Dorian Gray in the Showtime Gothic series, "Penny Dreadful" and Patrick Page originally played Frollo in the Papermill Playhouse adaptation of the "Hunchback of Notre Dame".
I knew I recognized his voice when I watched a bootleg of Hunchback! But when I did that I had only listened to Hadestown like twice and watched one bootleg.
I'd love to know what the *funniest* reactions were to That Moment... like does anyone get so caught up in the story that they forget not to yell, "NO" or "HOW DARE" or "YOU STUPID--oh wait sorry"?
I just stumbled across this video! The question at 25:14 is mine. I love their responses. I also love how they are staring at my tweet on the screen. I feel SEEN!
I have fallen in LOVE with Reeve as he is very much Orpheus. He lives in this present moment and from his heart. How adorable and enchanting. I saw him twice in 2019 that is when I fell in love with him, the actor. Now I know why - he is his character. He is out to heal the world so we all live in peace, harmony, and eternal spring!
Creators/Producers love Eva because she always give a justified existence to the character. It’s like yeah! I’ll die in the end of this story but let me kick ass first so you feel it when I am gone.
Anais was ahead of her time to have written this back in 2006! I've been listening to the soundtrack for the past few days and it truly seems like a beautiful show. Hoping to see it live someday soon!
For everyone that wants to know what "the moment" is read the Greek myth the musical is based off of. It's literally called Orpheus and Eurydice and you'll recognize it as soon as you read the part.
How how HOW did I miss those 5 on the Westend??? I saw Hadestown about a month ago in London and totally loved it. Found the Broadway recording with these five and how I wish I'd seen them on the Westend...
I love this musical! Although I’m surprised they didn’t mention Zeus, he’s related to all the main characters. He’s the father of Hermes and Persephone, a brother of Hades, and grandfather of Orpheus and Eurydice.
i think just cause they want to make it mainly about the romance. hermes is the narrator and a more minor god than zeus. If zeus was in the musical, i think it would take away from the main purpose and impact of the story and show
After seeing countless live performances of Hadestown songs where Reeve seemed really shy/nervous (whether he was in character or actually nervous I didn't know), I'm so pleasantly surprised to see he's so down to earth! :)
Sara Filipa Eurydice can only leave Hadestown with Hades’ permission. Orpheus goes after her and Hades says she can follow Orpheus out of Hadestown with one condition, he can not look back to check if she’s following him, or else she will be trapped with Hades forever, so they have to trust each other. When Orpheus is almost arriving he looks back to check it, and I think that’s the moment they are talking about. In the end she has to stay in Hadestown. (btw sorry for my bad English)
and isn't he currently dating Victoria Justice also, o I thought he and Lana were just friends, how are you sure they were dating, can you link your source?
I much prefer the interview with Amber and Patrick. They were a lot more personable and comfortable to watch and listen to. These two have kind of an awkward edge to their public presentation is
I think Eva is the one behaving a little strangely. I'm not sure why. I read elsewhere she was sick, so maybe that's it. She just seems kind of sad and distant. For sure he may be picking up on it and acting awkwardly as a result. He compliments her and engages with her in this interview, very politely too, and she recoils or doesn't react at all. Something strange about their dynamic. But I also know they're good friends
I don’t know him personally but my ‘reading’ of him is that everybody falls in love with him and he is just sweet with everyone. If you were dating him and saw him interacting with a new co-star, you would have to be so super self-assured to cope with that. Most girls would break-up with him first before getting their hearts broken, even though that isn’t necessarily true. Also, how could anyone work with him and NOT fall in love??? He is so sweet and genuine. I’m fairly sure my dog would let him carry her.... she doesn’t let anyone pick her up 😉💕💕
