Its funny, once I got into tournament fishing I naturally assumed I would need forward facing sonar to keep up with everyone else, and actually have a shot at competing. It is handy when looking out in open water for the bait, but I follow my same patterns, and fish the same parts of the lakes Ive been fishing my whole life. I can honestly say since live scope has been installed in my boat Ive caught more fish that I never saw on my screen vs ones that have. Obviously on a pro circuit its a whole nother level, but personally I feel Ive wasted thousands on my electronics, when all i need is depth, water temp, and to see structure to getter done. DC youre hands down my favorite pros, and favorite TH-camrs. Keep on catchin!
Boat Electronics are tools. Just like a rod and reel or terminal tacke(i.e., A-rigs, jigs, glide baits, etc) Every tool serves a purpose. The graphs help Anglers locate the fish more efficiently, increasing the probability of catch fish....NOT guaranteeing it! The Angler's skill in reading the environment and circumstances, then presenting the correct lure the way that causes a fish to bite....That's where practice & knowledge, separates luck from skill. If I could afford to have forward facing Sonar on my vessels, it would be on every one of them. But a good DS/SI unit with a quality display serves the purpose of locating the fish just as well. It's still up to the angler and the bass to make a connection.. Jus'Sayin Good Stuff DC!

I love electronics because they help you see what you can’t with your bare eyes, on the flip side of that, if your a working man on a budget and you see all this forward facing sonar stuff and 12-15” graphs that most likely we’ll never be able to afford until they are old and outdated you can’t help but be a little jealous or envious.
If you are going to make a living in bass fishing, I mean paying bills, feeding your family, the wife wants to go shopping, etc. well, you have to use all the tools to have this kind of life. that means all the best electronics you can get. That is reality, period. If you don't want to use electronics, then you are already retired and only fish for the fun of it. I am retired, have a paid for Ranger bass boat and go fishing when I want to. I enjoy my life but I devoted 35 years to Law enforcement and put a lot of bad people in jail. Well, that is overwith. Now I fish and then sit at home and watch you, JW, Mark and Adrian fish your butts off trying to fed your families. I enjoy watching all you guys having that fellowship. It is fun. There are many times I put the video on pause and yell at my wife to come and see what you, JW,Mark or Adrian just did. We then watch it together. Carolyn, my wife for 56 years loves to see Victoria and your dog in the videos.
I'm glad you told me about the scounger. I was thinking the other day I needed something a little more mover than swimbait but less than chatter. Getting scounger now
love me the active target, has helped me learn so much about baits and how to present them. as well as finding fish, the only people who bag on it usually don't have it.

Electronics have helped me catch more fish, just wish I could afford more and better. All I have is a mega 360 and a helix 7 mega si at the console. With all the fishing pressure on our waterways now you need all the help you can get to catch more fish. Tight lines and keep up the good work.
You need to watch this upload before your first comp next season mate. You need to find that happy guy, and keep him in your pocket for the tough times. Comp fishing is just as much mental as it is angling skill, but you already knew that. May the Bass gods be kind to you in 23 🇦🇺
Good video with great content. I have an Elite Ti2 on the console of my Tracker classic XL currently, but I got a deal on an HDS12 recently. So, 16.5 foot aluminum with 12 inch screen on the console and 9 inch on the bow, perfect.

So, I'm kind of new to bass fishing. I purchased a fishing kayak from a friend while I was in Utah for $750 and brought it with me to NC. I also bought his Garmin 73sv with it. Hated the kayak, it's not for me. Sold it for $750 and bought a little Jon Boat. Long story short, and one long hot as summer later it's now a little bass boat. I had zero idea what I was doing with my electronics until I watched a few videos on TH-cam and a few hot hours on the water f*cking with my settings. Later that day I cruise over what looked to be like a shit ton of bait fish. Low and behold I look down and gasp out loud at the beautiful sight of a ball of bait fish. Caught nothing.... Fast forward 2 weeks and literally +40 hrs on the water (I'm a student with a boat 🤷🏾♂️😅.), this past week and same picture except this time I found 3 different schools of bait fish on two different locations. Caught probably 15 or 16 all on Topwater throwing directly into bait. I caught two on one lure too. Yes, a lot of luck and work, but Lord have mercy, this is without livescope. I feel like at this point, fishing without electronics is the equivalent of calculus without a calculator. My fishbrain account is: carsonhinson for proof lol

I look at it like this we used to harvest animals with a spear, now we use high-tech archery equipment , wtf is the difference? Or we used a compass and a paper map to navigate now we use on-x hunt.
