Thank you for this! Justin, I am almost three times your age, but you sound SO much like me and my journey. I am an RN. All my docs were ignoring my symptoms and I knew I must be diabetic, but said “if no one else says I’m diabetic, I must be ok”. When my vision went blurry, it couldn’t be ignored anymore. My eye doctor diagnosed me, however my PCP said I was type 2 and told me she didn’t want to see my for 6 months. My eye doctor sent me to an endocrinologist who properly diagnosed me (thank God for these 2 angels). Once I had the type 1 diagnosis, I dove into the deep end seeking knowledge and tech -14 years later, I’m still swimming in that deep end.
I will be starting the G7 with my Tandem CIQ pump this week. Thank you SO much for the information regarding the 12 hour grace period. I am a pre-soaker and I was wondering if it was possible. ❤ Bless you both

Great guest. I like his comment about having Type 1 for years before being diagnosed properly. Funny how he was peeing so much for years without knowing why. I hope the best for him ❤.

Justin, last night I heard your story and it sounded like mine. I too was incorrectly misdiagnosed as type two. The whole time I never once accepted it. I just knew I was a one. After 6 years when it got bad enough I was sent to an endo who asked me why my sugar was so hi. Incompetence I said. They insist I’m a two when I know I am a one. She said Frank go downstairs and take this test right away. It was a c peptide test and she personally called me that Wednesday to tell me I was type one. I felt so much better. I was right the whole time. I am going on a tandem for basal only and I use Afrezza for bolus. I use Symlin as well it helps me lose weight

I was misdiagnosed also as type 2. 2 months later changed doctors and diagnosed as type 1 autoimmune. Metformin did not help.

I am aware of so many people that have developed T1D/LADA after COVID exposure - both symptomatic and asymptomatic.

He said Libre 2 will be working with Tandem this fall. How old is this video since this is November and there is no word of that happening?

Btw I can only use regular insulin. Only reason I’m going on the pump is cause levemir will be gone and I am allergic to every other analogue. I get very ill from them and I don’t want to go back to NPH. Too many lows not to mention that lantus toujeo and basalagla have been implicated in pancreatic cancer

Viocyte are encapsulated stem cells, I believe, to get around the autoimmune issue. 🙏🏻🤞🏻
