  • If you want a rare muscle car here it is! This 2002 Collector Edition Trans Am convertible built by GMMG has a 454 ci 680 HP engine. How’s that for muscle? It’s number 7 out of 10 limited edition Blackbirds and 1 of 6 convertibles. How’s that for rare? Plus it’s the highest horsepower out of the 10 built by GMMG! WOW! It’s many features and options brought the price up to a whopping $89,800. Jim Grdina, the owner, gives us the details and then takes it out for a drive.

$89,800 with 900 miles on it and it had a broken seat belt guide on the drivers seat. Come on man, replace that shit.

Awesome! I recall looking this edition over at the Pontiac dealer in San Jose, Calif. In April 2002. Love the yellow color with black interior, but did not like that side silver striping. I picked out the one I wanted on the lot, and was set to buy it, when my business crashed. Fast forward to 2010. I found a low-end base model 2002 Firebird coupe for sale by a private party original owner at a reasonable price, and bought it. 3800 series II V-6 with 5-speed stick shift. The car was high mileage but the owner had kept it in good condition looking nearly new, always garaged it and changed the oil regularly, with the original alloy rim wheels which look so distinctive on this car and give it both a look back to the 1st Gen Firebirds and exotic European sports cars I can't afford.
I still have it, well kept, and love it for its real sports car looks and performance, even though it's not a monster V-8, Iove its fuel economy and quality of GM's 4th Gen Firebirds. It's the Maple Leaf Red paint color (I call it metallic burgundy) with grey and black interior. Runs good and I keep it well maintained. Thanks for a look at the high end Firebird T/A!

454 in a WS6 is the dream build. like a tribute to the 455 Super Duty from early Firebird. it's a shame that this one is a convertible and not a proper T-top, otherwise it's pretty amazing.

Why was the Phase 3X 427ci option $27,000 and the Phase 5X 454ci only $3,500?

the exhaust is not cutouts. it's gmmg's exclusive "chambered" stainless steel exhaust system. The sound from the video don't do the car justice. You literally would have to stand behind this car to experience the aww inspiring sound. my uncle had two of these gmmg cars in the past. Both were silver and had ttops. one was a 380hp/ PR-1 (Year One/ prototype/ Carl Black/ Blackbird edition) and then he had a 425hp Carl Black edition.
