The unifics... had some of the best choreography... I mean their choreography was perfect.
What a stirring and moving song. Every time that I hear this song, it reminds me to always keep things in perspective. Never take your loved ones for granted,always resolve disagreements, and live each day with purpose for you never know what the next second will bring. Thanks Unifics for keeping it real!

I remember seeing these cats at the Uptown in Philly.
Next to the Temptations these were the steppingest cats EVER.
It's good to these these brothers perform THE EXACT SAME choreography from back in the day.
Another hard steppin group were the Ambassadores from Philly

They could tell a whole sad story in a beautiful 2 minute song.
Nothing but the very best old skool. Such a deep song but it tells such a realistic story about losing someone you love.............tears in my eyes.

Al Johnson is still in the D.C. area singing and producing. Saw him this past summer at the annual Peter Bug Academy day. He and Herb Fame (Peaches and Herb) sang a duet on the Temptations" Just My Imagination. Both still in great voice.
One of the most beautiful & saddest songs ever recorded about losing a loved one. The Beginning Of My End The Unifics! Have Mercy! Have Mercy On Me! I' ve been there! Have You America! Holla Back at me!

Man, I was a New York City "Apollo Theater Princess" (Because a good friend of my musician dad was back-stage door security). me and friends met and hung-out with the Unifics on several occasions. I remember Red, Gregory, Harold & Michele. I still have a photo of me and Michele Standing together.
let me explain something to all those listening oooout oooof all the groups and there were good ones nut THE UNIFICS. had the BEST STEPS. OUT of ALL OF THEM im not talking bout who had the most hit records or who was more popular amongst the groups of that time but there goreography was way ahead of its time for that ERA hands down. and when i look at NEW EDITIONS STEPS. the cat that taught. them knew his stuff to me N E put me in mind of the UNIFICS. who in my opinion had the best steps EVER spot on i saw them serveral times at the Apollo theater as a kid they were DYNAMIC

Stumbled on this site. Believe the singer named Red grew up with my husband in NC and always sang in the neighborhood. Said he had a real good voice. I think this is the group. I read where someone said his eyes always move and my hubsand said the same thing. I remember the song "The Beginning of My End," and it was a big hit. I hope he's the same one. If so, glad he's still out there singing. Good old days. They could dance; the white gloves were the bomb. That's where Mike got the idea.
This was an old song in '77 when Audrey and our baby girl, April died in a crash long ago. I just got home from work,when I saw the police waiting on my porch waiting for me. They walked me inside and he told me the news. I was never the same again. I have remarried and have teenagers again now. I will always love Audrey. Thanks for this post, it made me cry for her and the love we had once again.

Harold is my late uncle I miss him so much. I was young when he passed so I had no idea what his passion for music was.
Life used to be about love, and not sex and violence, and the music spoke to what was happening at the time. We were hungry, so we were willing to do what was right to get fed. Now that we are full, the music is lacking and the message in the music of today, well, no thanks! This music is life to me!

Gregory Cook was one of the originals. And also is my father. He is currently in DC and can still blow. I've heard a lot about him but was to young to see him perform
That's great... "GOD" bless him.. They had some "BAD" steps back in the day.... I remember this group... I remember seeing them perform "Beginning of my end".... One of the members stated that was really a true story in that song..... It supposedly happened to the lead singer.... Greg had a great falsetto. I met Greg many years ago when I lived in DC and will always consider him a friend. Great talent and stage presence.

The thing is that they are not telling you what happened in the Apollo every girl in that audience was crying and screaming and when those lights went out all you hear is crying this was in 1968 i married the girl that i took with me and we were married for fifty years but now I'm alone but i got 4 grown kids and 17 grandkids and five great grands
One of the things that made them so different from other groups was that their drummer was integral to their choreography. Every move made with precision in tandem with the drummer. Several other groups tried to copy their style
Drummer C their drummer back in the day was none other than Mr. Jerome Bigfoot Brailey, who was also the drummer for The Five Stairsteps, The Chamber Brothers and Parliament Funkadelic 🎼🥁🎼
