I am a 54 year old old bastard but this concert floors me! What a Awesome band! No joke. What an artistic piece of work despite the rain. The entire band rocks my socks off! Unbelievable work of art going on here. What a breath of fresh air. The art that came out of the 90S. Thought I was going to be stuck in the 60s and 70s forever then bands like this started coming out.All I can say is WOW !!
I was a teenager in the 90s and into this music. Some of what I was listening back then has not aged well, but I find that Deftones age extremely well. Maybe because their sounds is quite unique. Still feel nostalgic about that time. There is good music around nowadays too, but I just cannot seem to engage in it as much. Hopefully some new kickass band starts doing it for me again like they did for you.
Tudor Diaconu My 55 year old ass can! Yes check out Faith No More, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, A Perfect Circle, Primus, Mr. Bungle, Dublime, should I continue? There is a start!
Greg Moon Hey, idiot...this still SOUNDS badass today, even though it happened back in '98. Sounded implies it was only badass in the past. Sounds carries through to today.
***** Hey, you fucktard...go troll somewhere else with your butt buddy, Mark Servilio. All I was saying is that it "sounded" badass back then, but you just made the assumption that I don't think it still is. Chino doesn't exactly have the pipes he once had, but I don't think one's vocals are going to sound the same 16+ years later, right?
I'm not even trolling, the correct word would be "sounds"....I'm not making that assumption. I'm saying that is how it is read because sounded would be wrong, but whatever, let's just listen to some kickass music
Damn Right!! What an incredible performance! Couldn't agree with you more! Wish I could've been there to witness this live!! Truly great and YES. Coming from a 54 year old! Absolutely love it!
wow ... 16 years now ... been there with a friend of mine and my brother ... Departure from france, we took my bro who was at a party, and drunk, and we drive ( drove ? i don't know ) to the bizarre fest in germany... our goal, the deftones, we were fans... amazing show under the rain ! after it we went home in the night and the funny thing is that when i was back home I turned the german tv on, at 5 morning, and I felt on a program showing the deftones concert where we've been hours earlier ! and I saw my friend on the screen, jumping around !... a cool souvenir ! thanks for the video
I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emegency room and at 3 am ,his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear. He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone.
I saw them live only one time and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I'll never forget Chi's dreads flying all over the place like that xD Chi was an original Bass Hero!! (r.i.p.)
So happy I got to see Chi before the accident. They played a small venue and had the whole place going nuts! I've been to a lot of shows and seen a lot of big bands, but that is one show that was above everything else! And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Deftones fan.
exactly the same situation with me. Im 27 now too. I have been lucky enough to see them at least 6 times since i discovered them, The first time i saw a Deftones show, i was a Freshman in High School. It was at a venue called the "International Ballroom" in Atlanta. That building was as far from a "Ballroom" as you can possibly get. It was a "converted" warehouse(they added a stage, a bar, and a tiny balcony). Also, that night, something was wrong with the "venue's" AC. That was probably one of the top 3 times that I have been as hot as I was. Me, along with other members of the crowd would occasionally take off our shirts to ring them out all the sweat. On that tour (promoting "White Pony") the line-up was epic: Taproot (who's first album is bad-ass, haven't heard of their newer stuff, then Incubus, who had just released "Make Yourself", and the Deftones, I managed to make it up to the rail for the Deftones. Got to hear "Lotion" which is kinda rare these days to catchh at a show. Also got to hear a 7-words/Say It Ain't So sandwich. CONCLUSIONS: -The International Ballroom is not a ballroom and its hot. & COMMENTS - Great show and I was hooked to the 'tones since -Incubus used to be bad-ass, but they started a downhill slide after "Make Yourself" (IMHO) -I recently met Chino walking around downtown Asheville, NC before a show, and he couldn't have been any nicer. Very humble, down-to-earth guy. He was just out by himself walking back to the tour bus and he walked and talked with me, my friend and his GF for a solid 15 minutes. We didn't want to be annoying so we said our goodbyes well before we made it to the bus, but I guarantee he would have kept talking with us, Such a nice dude, Sorry for the rant, just got excited remembering that show and meeting Chino
Same. Around the fur came out maybe 7th grade for me. I didn't get to see them live until White Pony and Chino, of course, was fucking wasted. Just laid there on the floor drinking the whole show. I know he was going through some coke troubles back during the time this show happened, 98 or whatever, but man, his energy was on point. He's gotten better live lately, even with a broken foot last year he was still pretty decent. No complaints about the rest. Abe is such a powerhouse love, always impressed.
They still kick ass but those were great times. So many good memories from the first years. ¡¡Qué grandes los Deftones!! I don't get tired of listening to this old stuff. Awesome
no one could touch the Deftones in their prime! Chino once again showing us how how a frontman should work the crowd ...take notes little kids...this is how its done!
Saw them at The Starfish Room in Vancouver, BC for the first Adrenaline tour. Must have only been 200 hundred people there, they weren't well known at the time, was unreal. They were cool as fuck, me and my friends hung out with them afterwards playing pool, chatting, having drinks. I chatted with Chino ALOT about Mike Patton. Great memory, always a fan.
TheRamones3000....thank you for posting this. One if their best of not the best deftones shows I've ever seen! Got a new subscriber here, I know this is old, but so am I so it's all good!
I think he did do some atmospheric touches on Adrenaline, but he was definitely on Around the Fur and beyond. Frank`s known the band since 1994, so they`ve been at it for a while, he just didn`t become a member until 1999.
thumbs up to anyone to who back in the day had to wait hours and hours on napster and bearshare just to download awesome music performances like this song by song!
Don't get me wrong, I love everything Deftones have ever done, but my word, I miss this era.
Omg... me too. Makes me crazy sad and happy all in one.
Who doesn't.
Nostalgia for late 90s and early 00s era needs to be more recognized.
Adrenaline takes me back to when i first started playing music and kinda felt cool because everyone around at school had no idea about them ...

borkug Can you recommend some of the bands you where listening to back then?
Tudor Diaconu faith no more is really good and was an inspiration for deftones

Elijah Denmark Don't forget about Mr Bungle!!
Deftones at their peak.
I will be showing this set to my grandkids.
This music is me.
Miss you Chi.
Deftones at their best and not letting a lil rain stop them from a ass kicking show.
One of the only concerts where you can actually hear the bass,, Chi was amazing
No videophones, just music.
Whenever im angry or depressed, all i need to do is watch this performance and i know that everything is going to be alright.
exactly huge fan since 95 i am 39 also a musician thx man i needed to hear that no use scrolling down
I don't know what Chino is singing half the time. They are still one of the best bands ever..great set list..
Old school deftones...sweet
Around the Fur sounded so badass!
*sounds
Hey, idiot...this show happened back in '98, so that means it "sounded" badass.

This show gives me goosebumps and makes my heart beat fast every time I watch it it's so fucking amazing
Damn Right!! What an incredible performance! Couldn't agree with you more! Wish I could've been there to witness this live!! Truly great and YES. Coming from a 54 year old! Absolutely love it!
The crowd is so amazing!
Best. Alternative. Metal. Band. EVER. I have been a fan of this band for many years.
Yo how are you? I’m just here to remind you of this video
Deftones, Korn, Rage, And Tool, Best Bands IMO. And Chino was so good at this show, Damn. He had energy throughout the whole thing.
Korn??? Wow. Suckiest band ever
***** Yeah I agree..But the the stuff they have done the last Decade is Astrocious
Josh Ringer Korn sucky? Please, Never again.
Josh R
So theyre the suckiest band ever but in just the past decade? THeyve been around for two. Thanks next. Keep checking them out bro!
+Ariborne R75 Korn can't touch a pimple on any of the Deftones musicians ass! Just wanna be's! Got your back on this one!!
wow ... 16 years now ... been there with a friend of mine and my brother ... God how I wish nu metal was big now as it was in the 90s, regardless ima always loves it no matter what year
Chi Cheng, in your memory
God bless him! No Joke! What an awesome artist. Will be dearly missed RIP my brother!!
I lost count how many times I got chills while watching this.
I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you.

He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone.
I like how Chino always holds his mic and cords like they're about to coil around his neck and choke him. So he has to keep them in check.
was 2 years old when they performed this, now I'm jamming to it at 20.
Gone but never forgotten: Rock in Peace Chi Cheng
The best memories ever.... Nu metal era!
i have been a fan ever since "Around The Fur" {1997} been on board ever since
Started watching this thinking I'd just watch a song or two...42 minutes later. Unbelievable show.
when the rain starts with "bored", that's simply epic
Its too awesome to see them live, theyre so fucking powerful. Videos dont show a half of their potencial
I saw them live only one time and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I'll never forget Chi's dreads flying all over the place like that xD
Chi was an original Bass Hero!! (r.i.p.)
hasta el dia de hoy esta banda sigue teniendo ese power son unos grosos!
Los verdaderos grosos
Just found these guys today, man why did it take me so long to find them. they’re badass af.
i dont think there is much more they can do to win me over. Im a Deftones ADDICT!
I can sit back and watch this concert almost nightly !
My First Time to See Live Concert Deftone in'98 Thank For Up Load Aawsum !!
Deftones sound has aged like fine wine. The 90s had some epic music but Chino & Company have to be one of the goats. What an amazing concert
So happy I got to see Chi before the accident. They played a small venue and had the whole place going nuts! I've been to a lot of shows and seen a lot of big bands, but that is one show that was above everything else! And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Deftones fan.
I was 12-13 when this happened i wish i could have been there now when im 27...

'90...Great decade.
They still kick ass but those were great times. So many good memories from the first years. ¡¡Qué grandes los Deftones!! I don't get tired of listening to this old stuff. Awesome
So many different beautiful emotions in this concert...I was born in Jan 2000 but 1998 seemed to be such an awesome and unique year.
that transition from be quiet and drive far away and lotion is sick!!!

Mudvayne for me as well. Too bad they're gone lol.
Love him as an artist, He's awesome!

Man this was a bad ass show. The energy they put off was awesome. Remember it like yesterday.
Praise the Lord for The Deftones. I think it's art
Best deftones show I’ve ever seen. In their prime.
this setlist is so heavy from front to back
"my own summer" was so fuckin epic when it began to rain. the lyrics matched so well!
Is it just me or does Lotion go so fucking hard in this show. Jesus christ.

The energy released by Carpenter is exsplosive
I think he did do some atmospheric touches on Adrenaline, but he was definitely on Around the Fur and beyond. Frank`s known the band since 1994, so they`ve been at it for a while, he just didn`t become a member until 1999.
