    Finally someone that have thought everything thru, knife and sheath. Most designers just care about the knife. But when you get knife and sheath well done its a winner

    That reminds me of a combination of a Gerber Prodigy and a Cold Steel SRK.
    You can’t go wrong with well done 80crV2. That is one of my favorite steels.
    Great review my friend!

    I have a few 80CrV2 blades made by Laurin Metalli (Finland). Based on those I really, really like that steel. Even a very thinned out edge has so far neither rolled nor chipped on me.

      It is the best carbon carbon steel I have used so far. Thanks for commenting

    Hello Mark,
    Once again your review does not disappoint. Your knowledge, honesty, and skillset always shines through. We both knew going into this that it was not the ideal Bushcraft blade. That being said I wanted to see what it could do in your capable hands. Thanks again for tackling another Demko fixed blade.

    I like that boot knife style, it's been so long since I saw a boot knife that it was looking familiar but didn't dawn on me until you said it. I really like the look of this one and held up well to your tests. Thanks for sharing Mark.

    I like the sheath design for being able to hold the knife in both directions. The rubberized handle is simply a modern design that works well and costs less to produce. Granted the sheath is not leather but is maintenance free. Not everyone wants to use traditional style woodcraft knives or do woodcraft projects while camping out. I can see the small neck knife to be a good addition to carry along with this model too. The blade shape and size would work well for detail cutting.👍🙂

    G'day Mark, I like it, ....quite a bit actually. As you so rightly mentioned, history shows how much versatility can be had out of a single blade. I do have 3 Steel Will 6 in. "tactical" jobs that are very capable wood workers and I generally pair them with big fellas out in the sticks, ..... not bad around the house either for all manner of things ; )
    This one is obviously a bit smaller than those, still very, very worthy of pairing IMO and far more nimble as a stand alone EDC.
    Think I've said before .......... love the sheath design too !!!
    Yeah the coating looks to be much the same as on the BKs, does help initially with corrosion resistance, but hinders feather sticking in particular.
    I am getting on very well with 80CrV2, and just checked the Skrama and Puukko, still not spotting up by the briny here, dunno whats going on there, ....... but not complaining ; )
    Btw; always great to see your hard woods in action, plenty of them here, sometimes that's all you can find. Like you, I use them as a baseline, i.e. if it can deal with those, its gotta handle the rest ; )
    So, in response to your original premise, yep for sure, I'd even argue "some" tactical jobs are better than "some" specifically designed "bushcraft" knives, though I'm with ya, one does need to choose very carefully, if that's a crossover you want or need.
    In any event, nice review of a nice knife mate, fair to say IMO, Demko has done it again. Cheers Duke.
    P.S. does anyone actually carry a "boot" knife these days, ... defense aside, it makes a lotta sense, simply from a chilled EDC perspective I reckon, ..... just need to have ........... the right boots ; )

      @MarkYoungBushcraft  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great review
    As a very borderline bushcraft knife
    I would prefer the very similar Cold Steel SRK-Compact for a tad over $30
    Bigger handle with very similar material
    Sharper point, but not as strong

    Nice knife! I do like the size/shape. That rock maple can be crazy hard, I've even had a hard time cutting some Folly Mountain rock maple with a chainsaw. (Cut it at night with a chainsaw and you might even see the sparks fly)

    Oh Mark. This just was t up to your usual thoroughness.
    First, you didn’t baton anything with that shark fin, and second if you’re going to test this as a cross over, I would expect you to go and get yourself mugged in one of those skanky parts of Halifax, amd defend yourself with it as a boot knife. 😀
    I just thought of something. I’m not a fan of those plastic sheaths, and the main reasons is I feel they would hold moisture, especially without a drain hole. While I was watching, I was going to comment that this one doesn’t, but I realized many do not. In your opinion, are there more than just a couple plastic sheaths with drain holes?

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh man, the things I have to do to get views😣. I should have made note of it. There is a drain hole where the two side structural pieces come together at the bottom of the sheath. Small but there. Thanks for commenting Jim

    The negative I would have for the knife for me is that it is carbon. Otherwise, I like it. The blue handle knife, now that's a knife. The little neck is also nice. ✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸✌️
