Can you suggest an audio interface that can drive this 600 ohm headphone ?.... I'm planning on buying a 600 ohm Beyerdynamic headphone and an Audio interface that can drive these headphones
They got that dry Beyer house sound that I find unengaging. If someone is looking for a low-cost HD800 with lower technicalities go for the HD598 or maybe one of the newer cans in the same line up. I own both and they are quite similar only the HD800 being a lot tighter, clearer and detailed with a larger more precise soundstage. The HD800 has more ear fatigue though and the HD598 beats it hands down when it comes to comfort.
I feel that a lot of people are wrong about the hd800. They are actually pretty good. But they require a very natural amp and source and that you change the cable. Once you do that, the headphone becomes like 5x better. Standard hd800 on a Iphone or similar is just crap. And listening to it with the standard sennheiser amp and standard streamer or CD player is also really crap. I recommend getting a triode tube amplifier and a tube source for these, it totally changes the sound for the better.
@@dannybos7024 I tried it 3 times, the normal cable sounds dead and sterile, and standard cardas cable makes it sound half like an Audeze. (natural) But the biggest difference is using triode 300b tube amps on it and having a proper source like an EAR acute cd player. Standard cable and standard transistor amp and source= big mistake.
@@RealHIFIHelp I'm really sorry, but you're actually delusional if you honestly think that cables make an actual audible difference, let alone notice that. They don't even make a measurable difference. Source, EQ, pads or tubes are the best ways to change a headphone its sound signature.

I notice the trend of Beyerdynamic headphones to have brutal peaks at around 5-6k and 8k to give the listener the false impression that the headphones have amazing treble resolution and presence, that "sparkle" a lot of users speak of. However for people who have had the opportunity to listen to the high end headphones that are 1k or more expensive, good examples are Sennheiser HD800(S), Hifiman Arya/HE1000 or Audeze LCD series, they will know that what Beyerdynamic offers is not true resolution but just boosted dB of these ranges so the listeners can hear them better, also the V shape of the frequency response to further boost the high frequencies cuz the mids tend to compete in loudness with the highs.

DT880 pads are near perfect... for the first 100hrs. Quickly went mush and dirty relatively for velour pads which not only worsen the sound but also causes my ears to touch the insides (comfort went from 9 to 7). The K702 is quite similar but not as severe in degradation with its larger but firmer pads, but the stock headband were atrocious with its annoying bumps and elastics that quickly went loose. Owned the old trios: DT880 (250 ohm) best for reference/monitoring, best imaging (ear placed dead center of driver) HD600 best for music, best tonality and mids K702 best for gaming.. kinda, soundstage is exaggerated If I were to keep one, I'll probably keep the HD600 for a baseline comparison against other headphones.
I have the schiit asgard 3 and modious dac. Will this be enough power for the 600ohms. I think it’s more than enough but on z reviews he made it seem like even the asgard 3 would be enough.
@@reesonnz8467 the asgard 3 has plenty of power at-least to my ears/personal taste. I’m sure if you have more clean power it could even sound better maybe but I think the asgard is plenty. It’s not nearly as compressed feeling or sharp/syblant like when you just plug them into a phone or a weaker portable amp. I feel on the asgard they really open open with better separation/imaging and the harshness is way down. Can still be a bit sharp at times but not all the time and it doesn’t bother me but I like brighter sounding headphones. Do you also have an asgard 3 and contemplating buying the dt 880 600?
Any chance DT880 will run smoothly on FiiO Q5s and JDS Element 2 with reasonable volume? If not, what other portable and desktop setup would you recommend?
i just picked up the SMSL sp200 and i wonder how these will fair on that amp since it has the full 6 watts of power available from the single ended output.
They are. Your phone could probably power them. All that's different is the impedance, the power sensitivity is the same. Just the current and voltage requirements are different sue to the impedance
Could you tell me , if they can play "REALLY" loud? I mean VERY loud, because the dt770, despite the amazing sound, they can't play in really high volume, and although I loved their sound, this was a deal breaker for me, to be able to listen to music only in average volume. Sometimes I love to live in my "own" club-head 😉
No headphone has a volume ceiling. Whatever youre running them off of doesn't have a strong enough amp and you'd need to get an external one. (JDS Labs Atom, Geshelli Labs Archel Pro, Schiit Magni, etc)
@@DatHombre with an AK4493 DAC, a vacuum tube headphone amp (as preamp) and a FiiO E09K as the final amp.... if it's not enough, I guess I'd need a power factory to run them! When I say they can't play loud, I mean without distortion, to the point that they'll get damaged.
But it does require lot of power? My problem that I have is idk if it's bad headphones or my amplifier is archel pro and my dac is a enogpro both of them from geshelli labs.
I just don't get the midrange-comparison; just had a user tell me that the 2C's midrange is recessed and this seems insane. DT880 does not have better vocals in comparison, they might be more forward but the clarity and presentation leaves much to be decired IMO. DT 990 is heavily V-shaped (which is kind of interesting from an open back), the DT 880 is more reference like. DT 990 treble can be razor sharp.
@@PK-xj6qz Very good comparison, having had all three models, I totally agree.
@@PK-xj6qz I've been back and forth with purchasing the 880 and 990. I'm somewhat treble sensitive but I like a GOOD amount of bass. Just clear bass, not crazy. But I also like imaging a lot in my headphones. What would you recommend? From what you described, seems like the 880 is for me but clarity is also important...
@@PK-xj6qz I actually have the 660 S, funny enough lol

Can you suggest an audio interface that can drive this 600 ohm headphone ?.... I'm planning on buying a 600 ohm Beyerdynamic headphone and an Audio interface that can drive these headphones
Emotiva A100
Do you have any experience of the Ultrasone signature series ? if so, are they any good ?
How does this stack up against the 58x jubilee? do they have a place together or do they directly compete? :)
A significant step up from a m560? or a parallel step?
What model Rotel amp is that? I have the RSX-1550.
Hello. Has anybody have any ideas if there is a difference between the 250 and the 600 ohm version please?
They got that dry Beyer house sound that I find unengaging. If someone is looking for a low-cost HD800 with lower technicalities go for the HD598 or maybe one of the newer cans in the same line up. I own both and they are quite similar only the HD800 being a lot tighter, clearer and detailed with a larger more precise soundstage. The HD800 has more ear fatigue though and the HD598 beats it hands down when it comes to comfort.
Interested! Mate have you tried these on a monster amp like in the Zeos review?
Yeah. Mine have speaker terminals on them. I told him to get a pair lol.
I really hope you're joking about the cable.
@@dannybos7024 I tried it 3 times, the normal cable sounds dead and sterile, and standard cardas cable makes it sound half like an Audeze. (natural)
But the biggest difference is using triode 300b tube amps on it and having a proper source like an EAR acute cd player.
@@dannybos7024 Good luck with that type of sound.
@@RealHIFIHelp I beg your pardon?
What are the sound differencies Sennheiser drop 58x jubilee compared Beyerdynamic dt 880 600 ohm? Which one you prefer?
Im not dms but sweet lord if you can power this beyerdynamic dt 880 anyday of the week hd58x is if you want a less than 200 headphone setup but still an AMAZING one at that
dt880 is if you can spend 1000 minimum mean decent dac decent amp
Hey DMS should i buy beyerdynamic T 90 for 100 dollars?
Thank you for the video. Can a Schiit Vali-2 adequately drive these headphones? At 600 Ohms, the Vali's max power is 140 mW RMS per channel
Absolutely not go to zeo's channel and watch that but no it can not get near powering this
@@yuribezminov2825 Plenty of forums have stated that most sub 100 amps will be able to drive these fine. My $60 FX-AUDIO DAC-X6 is driving it right now.
@@uninja7650 I have the same amp, it drives it but i feel like the cans would benefit from a better amp.
the byerdynamic own amp which they recommend for driving these HP have 100 ohm output impedance ..
wonder if using impedance plugs on my amp helps in driving these 🤔
mine are modded with balanced cable so its easier for me to drive them, sound is really pro

I have the Focal Elex and the HD660s, are these a worthwhile addition to a collection or are they not going to offer much new?
I'd personally look for a nice planar to add to your collection.
@@dannybos7024 yeah, I'm saving up for the Diana v2, I think that's the logical next step. Unless someone can convince me that the ZMF Verité is a better move

And vs hd600?
SO this or the DT1990?
Hello everyone. Could anybody who reads this post please advise me if my Onkyo A9030 home amplifier or a similar type amplifier would power the DT 880 600ohm? This version sounds the better purchase than the 250ohm version but just need to make sure before any purchases are made. Thank you.
Owned the old trios:
DT880 (250 ohm) best for reference/monitoring, best imaging (ear placed dead center of driver)
HD600 best for music, best tonality and mids
K702 best for gaming.. kinda, soundstage is exaggerated
If I were to keep one, I'll probably keep the HD600 for a baseline comparison against other headphones.
Is this similar to Grado 325? If you have both, which do you like better?
Smaller treble spikes than the 325 and better built.
I have the schiit asgard 3 and modious dac. Will this be enough power for the 600ohms. I think it’s more than enough but on z reviews he made it seem like even the asgard 3 would be enough.
yo! did you figure out if they were enough? Maximum Power, 600 ohms: 300mW RMS per channel right?
Do you have any knowledge on Phonon SMB-02 ?
Why does your name always switch between different three letters

For the price of the Ifi you could get a JDS Atom, and Khadas Toneboard. Much, much better value.
Any chance DT880 will run smoothly on FiiO Q5s and JDS Element 2 with reasonable volume? If not, what other portable and desktop setup would you recommend?
Tonezou absolutely not
@@hadiffnazhan862 I see. At least the Element 2? Specifications include 600 ohms, it might be my mistake though.

i just picked up the SMSL sp200 and i wonder how these will fair on that amp since it has the full 6 watts of power available from the single ended output.
You won't have an issue. Topping A90 single ended has far less power and on high gain I'm only between 10-1 o'clock on the volume.
6 WATTS through 600ohm? That's pretty overkill, but then again what is this hobby anyway hahaha

I'm guessing a schiit magni 3 wouldn't be sufficient to power these?
They are. Your phone could probably power them.
All that's different is the impedance, the power sensitivity is the same. Just the current and voltage requirements are different sue to the impedance
DMS, what headphones have a sound signature the most similar to Vandersteen. Elex?
Spot on
Would this be a good headphone to contrast to the HD 650 on tubes?
what do you mean?
They definitely sound great on tubes (littledot Mkiii OTL in my case), preferable to SS IMO.
why is there so much static in the intro?
how are the dt880 250 ohm for gaming i just got them used for 100 bucks i hope im not going to regret it.
They're good.
But also with that said, you shouldn't be listening to audio "VERY LOUD" unless you want your hearing to go to shit by 40.
@@DatHombre I'm in 50's DJing for many years and my hearing is more then excellent! Occasionally I like it LOUD.

Please review the AMIRON HOME!!!
I just don't get the midrange-comparison; just had a user tell me that the 2C's midrange is recessed and this seems insane. I know people are different and ears are different but the 2C did vocals better than the HD600-series. As I said, I know pinnas etc. but really? DT880 does not have better vocals in comparison, they might be more forward but the clarity and presentation leaves much to be decired IMO. The DT880, once EQ:d, do bass well, vocals good and treble great, I love the sparkle and clarity that these headphones have. Sadly they do sound like crap with crappy recordings, though.
DT880 600Ω (200€) or K712 Pro (255€)? For hi-fi/music listening.

Sundara

You'll get volume out of it, but I'd say to save up for something more powerful.
Good review, but its like comparing nissan z to gtr...yeah...nah. hd800 is on a different level
The difference being HD800 is an objectively worse headphone.
No because the DT880 600 Ω distorts like crazy in the low frequencies. HD800 is ultra clean but still has that treble peak.
your amp must be useless, mine never distort and its super clean very technical sound
too bad sweetwater has the price all jacked up on these. I'd get a pair.

For reference I have the phillips fidelio X2s. I like the wide sound stage.
Out of curiosity are there any headphones that would also have that wide sound stage and a powerful sub bass/bass without worsening the rest of the frequencies? Is it possible to get something that can reach those low frequencies and still be open back?
I rlly like the bass in the fidelio X2s it sounds rlly smooth and nice to me i just wish it could hit those real low powerful thumps while like watching a movie
The M1060 is relatively affordable and extends really low. Also Josh Valour just posted a review of the open back M1060C that he raved about that you could check out
It Is an 1000 dollar headphone
on good source yea it easily can be compared to some 1000$ headphones
No, they are not. lol
Exactly. Because they are actually bearable.
DMS have to disagree HD800 are superior and if u can’t bear them it’s cuz ur not using a good setup for them. It’s about synergy, if a headphone doesn’t sound that great one one amp it might sound better on another. HD800’s are very picky so you have to pick ur setup wisely.
I owned hd800 for a while and used them on a few dozen high end amps. Even tried the SDR. I agree they're amp picky but the FR is just straight up unbearable and the sound stage is ridiculously exaggerated
ahhh E2k
I've watched about 10-15 of your videos, and it's really annoying how you sound so unsure of everything you are saying. How am I supposed to be confident about your video if you obviously aren't?
I'm certainly not unsure about anything i'm saying. I take a lot of time to test and form my opinions before filming. That's the first time in 3 years and 2 million views that anyone has felt that way.
No way dt 880 is similar to the hd 800
