Parkinson interviews Oliver Reed - 1973 - pt1

  • Oliver Reed is now best remembered for the chat show appearances where he turned up apparently 18 sheets to the wind and made an arse of himself. It was not always so. When sober, he was a dream guest. Lucid, interesting, thoughtful, funny and a fund of superb anecdotes. Here he is in 1973, with Parky, Dame Isobel Barnett, and Mickey & Sherri Spillane. Remember him THIS way.

    In 1973 we had people like Oliver Reed, Peter O'toole, Richard Burton, John Hurt and Richard Harris. In 2019 Gordon Ramsey is considered edgy. What a scandal! Ollie was like the uncle you hoped would be there on Christmas Day. Wonderful.

      He had the courage to speak the truth about liberal feminism and also the radicalized progressive left. He also spoke out against radical islam in a time few people were aware of it. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of the liberal feminist left....how they labeled HIM as chauvinistic and hating women but they supported a belief systen that stoned rape victims implemented honor killings FGM.
      He was a sarcastic asshole but also very brave in that he had the spine to speak the truth about the real motive of women like gloria steinam and the double standard of the progressive left in general. It became a death sentence for his career.
      His chauvinistic comments about women was for the benefit of liberal feminists. He did it to piss them off. WHY....THEY WERE STILL ARE ...DICTIONARY STUUUUPPPIDDD.
      Oliver reed married a woman whose IQ was 172. His was 168. She finished middle AND high school at 13. Went onto college completed it at 15...magna cum laud. Went onto graduate studies was out by 20 at the TOP OF HER CLASS. Do you think a true chauvinist would marry her? Everything these feminists wanted to be his wife WAS. After mocking them to show how stupid they sounded he pointed his wife out to them....could THEY do HALF of what SHE DID? THAT was when he zapped them about their almost total blackout on radical islam and how it denied women even basic health care. I wish i could find that video clip again. I suspect Mark Zuckerburgs youtube minions removed it. Lololol..of COURSE what he told these mentally retarded c**** left them FUMING. He told them the TRUTH. The TRUTH has a way of doing that.

    I remember meeting Oliver in the pub in 1976 we had a great conversation + 6 drinks and I never forget his advice as we both have dyslexia. I didn’t make as much money as he did but I did very well for my self and to this day I still stick to what he told me. God rest his soul 🙏

    I adored Oliver Reed right from the first time i seen him in a horror film, his eyes were facinating, he was larger than life and dominated the screen when the cameras were on him, he had a marvellous voice, Rest in Peace dear man, you are missed and left us in a horrible awful mean world, i know you are in a better place entertaining the Angels.

    Wonderful interview, Oliver Reed remains one of my all-time favorite actors and people. Such a brilliant man. Even with his problems, there were also so many people who were publicly unkind to the man. It would have been a joy to sit down and talk to him over dinner. Greatness. It's nice to see how much Mr. Spillane enjoyed listening to him.

    His scar on the left side of his face is quite noticeable here. Most actors would have arranged to be shot from the other side, but apparently Mr. Reed hadn't that kind of vanity. Beautiful voice and an articulate man.

      I have a wonderful idea for a script but have no idea of how to even begin writing and how to make it a reality? I honestly think it could be great but have no idea where to begin. All the characters and scenes are already in my mind, as it is semi-autobiographical but I need some help as to to where I should start? I would love to use actors that no-one has heard of!! I realise this is a huge long-shot but who knows eh??Is there anyone out there with any experience willing to give a total novice a chance???

    • @StevieHypno
      @StevieHypno 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, a massive long shot. As part of my degree, I did a screenwriting course. This gave me insight into writing, guys who write stuff I watch on TV talking to me directly about their experiences, and a structured (and crucially pressured) route to my own screenplay. I learned I absolutely loved writing the treatment, the initial synopsis, and used the picture in my head to then go on and write some of the script with loads of enthusiasm. Then the ADD kicked in, and I lost interest, or at least the ability to complete a project in which I'd explored all of the novelty. You might be different. Find a course, use the structure, and find out.

    In this clip Mr Reed is erudite, lucid and able to deliver a punch without resorting to drink or his hands. For me, this shows what a charismatic and powerful personality he had. It is a GREAT shame that he ended up an alcholic. Only a fellow alcoholic would have enjoyed Mr Reed's drunken antics. I will try to remember him as the dark and brooding Bill Sykes and this complex but amazing gentleman on the Parkinson show.
