    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Giuseppe, to find the stencil that you need you must search the chip code on ebay and on the stencil you will find the solder ball size, i'm using warton metals future hf rework jelly for many years because it does a good job and leaves very little residue, amtech nc 559 is also good for reballing

    at 6:45, are you applying solder or some of that low-temper solder removal stuff? Which tip (exact model) are you using and what's your soldering station? Finally can you do a video on motherboard LGA reball/replacement? Thanks!

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm using leaded solder sn63pb37, for the soldering station and the tip watch this video th-cam.com/video/W5HECI1L3dg/w-d-xo.html , i would need a bigger rework station to repair big boards like pc motherboards

    • @BurtTMacklin-fbi
      @BurtTMacklin-fbi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there a difference between leaded and unleaded solder for rework? Are there instructions with the T12 build kit from aliexpress/banggood?

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      leadfree solder replaced the old leaded solder not because it is better but because the lead is toxic. leaded solder has better mechanical properties and can tolerate thermal stress. one more difference is the melt temp, leaded solder sn63pb37 melt temp is 185°C , leadfree solder 220°C, and when using leaded solder the rework temp is lower and you don't stress the motherboard and other electronic components.
      i bought my t12 controller on ebay and there was no instructions, i don't know about aliexpress/banggood

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. the bottom and the top heater are connected on 2 ssr (relays) and the power source is 220v, the pid controller controls the relays, this is the entire basic circuit, it is very simple

    • @williamzhou1286

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, i would use an electronic step up transformer 110 --> 220 volt 2000watt to power the rework station and a dimmer to control the bottom heater or a thermostat

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      i also don't know if a chip is ok or dead, to inspect the BGA and chip and see if there are cracks you need a BGA scope and an Xray machine, very expensive tools, and none of us diy "technicians" have these tools, i do the reballing and say a few prayers and if it works i'm happy :) lol

    I have a motherboard that needs processor socket replaced because some pins are broken. I do have a lga new socket. Can i purchase two small ceramic heating plates, one bottom one up and heat the chip while monitoring the temperature and try to remove the damaged socket? Which temperature will it move?

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, this would not be easy, you have to monitor the temp on bottom heater , the top heater and the board temp, the bottom heater needs to be a big heater (size and watts) because is the one that delivers the most heat, the top heater helps a little to rise the board temp to the solder melting point 220°C
      and when you reach the liquid state...one wrong move and other components like small capacitors could fall of or move and the motherboard is useless :/

    • @geek4001
      @geek4001 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NikTelio too bad i removed the socket. I used a 100w ceramic heater in bottom. And used the hot air rework station to heat the socket and everything was fine until i removed the socket carelessly and all the resistors inside the socket went flying. I am going to resolder all the resistors and buy better ceramic heater for bottom and up. And buy a themorcouple. Do you think without heat controller and just with thermocouple i can grt the new bga sockst inplace?
