  • In this video I cover the study method of using a wire frame to understand the FORM of the lips as well as how to paint them and introduce new lighting and specular highlights.

      Drinking game. Put on a Jordan Peterson video and drink every time he says roughly speaking or in my estimation. You'll end up with alcohol poisoning during a 3 minute snippet.

    Hey Ahmed, great video as always! Lips are definitely one of the hardest parts to draw for me.
    I have a question: I see that when you draw the initial sketch, you don't really worry about making it too clean. No matter what I do, my paintings always end up really muddy-looking and I have no idea how to fix that, I've tried going over with softer brushes to "blend" but I make it worse every time. Is it the colors, the brush strokes, the layers? I really can't figure it out.

    • @AhmedAldoori
      @AhmedAldoori  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I get it - Having muddy paintings is almost always because of lack of color grouping and value grouping. Here's what you need to do;
      When you're painting something, make sure you establish and understand the form (like in this video using wireframe).
      If a light is facing certain "polygons" of your object, make sure to paint ONLY that light source (might be cool or warm). Whereas other polygons facing different light source, would ONLY receive that light. When you start mixing the "pools" of warm and cool then it becomes grey and muddy.
      The idea is to make sure there's a clear separation of different facets, or polygons, when painting. You can then blend the two groups as well as introducing another color to transition between the groups. This might be complex and difficult to explain without a visual example.

    • @user-vl1tl2sv4p
      @user-vl1tl2sv4p 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahmed Aldoori Wow I wasn't sure I would get an answer at all, this is such good advice. I think I get it, I'll try next time I draw. Thanks a lot man!

    I have to use colourpicking in my semirealism drawings, since I'm colourblind and I can't choose colours myself which are actually skintone looking :/ So I don't agree, colourpicking is not bad.

    • @AhmedAldoori
      @AhmedAldoori  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Zoë Voss yeah totally! I know a handful of artists who are colorblind, I'd say work within your limitation and make awesome stuff anyway - without thinking that you need to meet the expectations of others who are not colorblind. Also have you tried those colorblind glasses? I know it doesn't work for everyone just a thought

    • @zoevoss1672
      @zoevoss1672 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahmed Aldoori they'd never work sadly, I have achromatopsia and it can only be slightly resolved with some gene thingy, but it's still being tested and if I suddenly see colours, at least for me now, it's too late, since I can't learn the colours of the rainbow (and beyond) when I'm a student xD

    • @AhmedAldoori
      @AhmedAldoori  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Zoë Voss that's quite interesting - so what are the colors that you can't see? Do they just look grey/desaturated to you?

    • @zoevoss1672
      @zoevoss1672 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahmed Aldoori I can't see any colours, but I am able to see red, that's the only colour. But I am able to see very bright and saturated colours. My eyes do see all of the colours, but my brain is not able to recognize them. It's confusing for others, but I don't know any better xD
