This is a GREAT performance of a great song off a great album - maybe the best album of that year. And they have done outstanding work ever since. I think they are the most overlooked band in the last 30 years of rock and roll.
becasue todyas music public are fricking idiots and morons for pseudo artists like Beyonce, Mariah, Bieber, Rhianna and Adrianna and wahtever bullshit over produced, lack of talent, lack of substance so called music that is being put out. The Afghan Whigs are the real deal. They restore , they put out, real music. They are real artists.
1. Feminists were offended by their blatant masculinity and they didn't have the money that The Rolling Stones had to combat it. 2. They got screwed by their record company, which was run by a Feminist who hated them.
The 90s (much like the 60s before it) were just over-saturated with so many good bands that many of them - seemingly at random - just fell by the wayside of the general public.
why most of the bands become so average once the main drummer leaves/gets sacked whatever..Afghan Whigs, Therapy?, REM, Guns..the list goes on and on...that is the way of the world..
I remember the first time I heard this song was on MTV. The video was perfect for the song - full of anger, malevolence and unbridled passion with Dulli presiding over it all in a badass white suit. Pretty goddamn epic.

They probably couldn't have existed before or after the 90s, definitely wouldn't have been as successful (although they should have been more successful even then), and a band like this definitely wouldn't get on network TV in any other era, with Dennis no less :)
This band is the most underrated music talent I can think of for the last 30 years. Listen to all their songs, fucking brilliant.
Greatest band in the last 30+ years. Greg Dulli is a genius
who doesn't rate them?
Totally... along with Smashing Pumpkins, Breeders...

Trying to explain to my 17 year old how some bands don’t always capture their live presence on recordings. Showed him this he was blown away.
I miss bands like this. I miss being young having a good time. GOD I MISS THE 90's!!!
underrated! this original rhythm section was a beast.
who didn't rate?
Damn what a killer song, my God!
Afghan Whigs, Humm, DaDa, Dinosaur Jr ... all bad ass
My favorite afghans songs! Dulli has amazing presence!
I’d give anything to be locked into this era of music again. It just does something to me nothing else ever will.
one of the best bands of the 90s
That’s whatcha call locked in-bass,guitar,drums… try and play this as a band like these guys… nope. No can do. That’s why they call it original kids…
Such a masterpiece of a song. So sexy. Drips with it.
At their best.
Should of been huge.
They were better off not being “huge”, because they never had to write songs that the idiot masses would eat up.
Saw them live on this tour .. Liberty lunch Austin Texas 1993
I was in the audience for this particular show. I was visiting a friend in LA for spring break and we got tickets.
😵😵😵
Their whole album was on point.
I remember seeing this tour. Was amazing. They still put on a great show today! And release good records
Just found out they’re playing a show just a 5 minute walk from my house. It’s not for 6 months, but I’m so stoked!
Great performance. This band should've been huge.
Nope. That would’ve ruined them trying to write “hits” for the masses that would never “get” their music otherwise.
they are with us…
Agreed to the tenth power
I got to meet these guys twice. Beyond cool
They are

Do you know the meaning of underrated?

Yes yes yyyeeesss
Album cover, name and songs - all making one very clear artistic statement. Doesn’t happen often.
Classic.
Stripped down, gentleman is a perfect song, and the solo after the bridge is Hendrix tinged by way of all along the watchtower, do the math
It was these performances that made late night television worth watching back in the early-mid ‘90s.
