I just pulled the trigger on the AGS Power Pitch to go with the Bottom Contact II. I just checked the BC II and looks different on that tip from your picture. Maybe you can purchase another Tip for a different model if you want to keep all Daiwa parts? Yes , for the money should be perfect i agree though might make the rod worth keeping.
Very interesting. I’ve never experienced this problem. I wonder what’s different and what causes it. I have put probably 50 hours in with this particular rod. I’m wondering if it’s the style of flipping or something else about the setup that could cause this
Seems quite a conspicuous flaw to overlook for a company with such resources. I’m still largely a Shimano/Loomis guy but my regard for Daiwa has certainly risen lately with a few reel purchases. Easily remedied but at that price point, not what you’d expect. Did you ever get your hands on one of the new Legend Tournament Bass rods?
I could definitely see Japanese guys not pitching/flipping with the rod straight up. I haven't had that issue with it, but I also don't flip/pitch with the rod straight up. I just tried it and it feels awkward as hell and takes away from my ability to do it accurately and efficiently. That said, it's certainly worth considering for guys that do pitch with the rod straight up. Love the stuff you put out, thanks for it and keep on keepin on! *Edit: Thank you for doing content on high end shit and being thorough with it, it's hard to find good content on expensive gear.
LOL man I'd be pissed too. Can't believe Diawa missed that. I got the Steez AGS Universal Light and for me it's flawless. Highly recommend for soft plastics
Did I see you did a Googan Rod review, but can't find it. Or did I dream that last night? Must have dreamed it as you wouldn't even look that general direction at the store.....but neither would I.
Fan of your channel but Umm, disagree here , you been xtra,I have owned the rod during the same period , live in Texas and have been using it for punching using 1.5 max punching weight and had no issues , in fact the guides have been doing great with line mgmt. for reference I own Expride 7’11, evergreen & adrena 7’6 XH
I have the Ark Tharp 7’ 11” heavy and I use 80lb 832 and I have no issues with anything catching. That’s kind of disappointing from daiwa which is a rare thing
As stupid as this is for $550 to need modification, I feel like you could get a rod builder to use some epoxy fill that little notch Edit: I started typing this comment at 9:30, and then the next sentence out of your mouth covered my exact point
Two rods I would never spend more then 300$ dollars, pitch and flip, and crankbait rod, other then being a Bouche show off no reason to spend that much, especially since it's made in china no thanks
Brian you always deliver an honest review. Buy the new guide and have it done at the shop.
I'm going to fix it somehow.
I’m really liking my Expride 711XH for flipping and punching. 5.8oz total and has a proper tip guide.
Wow that is crazy that that problem is there you would think they would fix that. You can replace the tip if it bothers you that much
I am excited for you to go on Devons livestream!
You should definitely write to daiwa and tell them about this
Great review! Can’t wait for the Tatula XT review

I agree with you 100% I hate that tip top guide 🙄

Could just be me being really picky
@@PunchFishing what braid are you flipping with? Do you punch much at like 1.25 or 1.5oz?
John crews icon punch rod bro, counter weighted rod and spiral wrap guides, brain it will rock your flipping game bro

Some people will argue it's not a flaw and the rod fishes just fine. This is just my personal experience using it for the better part of 3 months.
I haven't picked up any LTB's yet.
Thanks fire the info 🫡

Maybe saying straight up was a bit too literal. What I was trying to say that if I had the tip high vs leaning the rod way to the side.

I love my bottom contact 2.
@@PunchFishing that's the next one I'm going to get!

Yes, I did a spinning rod a while back.

"you been xtra" ?! English please.
Sounds like you just have a unique flipping technique. The geometry of the tip is pretty clearly an issue
@@PunchFishing He is saying that you're over exaggerating or being dramatic.
Actually not the first time I've heard someone talk about this problem lol. Daiwa should've caught that. How would you compare to the BLX 7-11?
I've never seen that rod in person
@@PunchFishing it's badass. Just sayin
Bro the blx 7’11 flipping rod is the 🐝 knees man. So sick
Man that blx 7’11 flipping rod is super sick man. I got mine for sale for only $175. I got another one just to have lol

I think I’d probably take a dremel to the corner and smooth over it with epoxy
