- The second run of DOOM on Nightmare after routing it. I Failed the Titan's Realm skip & had to reload a checkpoint + died to the 2nd boss once, so this could have been a sub 1:40. Very impressive. I was a huge fan of the original Doom and Doom II. Me and my buddies would do 4-way LAN deathmatch/co-op parties for whole weekends. This new Doom seems so similar in the physics of the game, especially the "always moving and strafing". Thanks for taking the time to produce this video and allowing me to play vicariously through you. Also, you have a cool voice. You talked just enough to add to the value of the video and were not annoying like so many other narrators. Cheers!
If you really take a look at the game it is very different to the original Doom 1 & 2 but it just manages to capture the same FEEL of Doom. It feels like the same game without actualy doing it.
Doom 4 could of been so much better if only it had a story like 3 did
I disagree about the story. I think the "story" in the new DOOM was just right, it takes you back to its Hellish roots. I think that sometimes games focus way too much on the story and they compromise on everything else. I was sceptical about this release, but it truly delivered... many times.
Could you explain the "story"? Because this game is basically just an exhibition
The "story" is pretty easy to figure out when you play through the whole game. There's not a lot there, but I don't think there needs to be, the game is a throwback to its roots, and they did a good job at that. id tried to add story to Doom 3 and it just didn't fit with the Doom universe (along with the impressive technological advancements, but shoddy(?) implementations. I never got into Doom 3, but the new one kept me hooked until the end. Not as much as the originals do, but it does a damn good job.
The video was putting me to sleep, not that there was any problem, you're a phenomenal player, just the game was oddly soothing. I was fighting to stay away and kept catching myself dozing off, haha... Good run, congratulations.
I love that standard operating procedure for doom speedruns is "I don't have time to aim, more explosions are the only solution"
Every problem can be solved with more explosions. Car not starting? Blow it the fuck up and get a new one. Wife nagging you? Blow her the fuck up and get a new one. House too small? Blow it the fuck up and potentially injure your neighbors.
Your explosion not big enough? Strap more explosives to it. Then strap more explosives on top of those explosives! Just keep going! Who cares that it's unreasonable! You need to build a tower made out of C4, TNT, and nitroglycerine! Then blow it the fuck up!
Fuck it! Blow yourself up because explosions are a solution to every problem. EVERY. PROBLEM.
Are you blind? Can't you see how accurate his aiming is? Especially with projectiles, you have to pre-aim to get a hit.
Games barely just come out and hes allready broke it with a glitch and set a world record hahaha people are epic

the game is easy too, no comparison with the original doom difficulty, in this new one, there is something missing...
SaintY0y0 Naaah, it´s pretty hard on the harder difficulty settings. I feel like Doom 1 is easier at some points.
So speed running while exploiting cheats or glitches is accepted? I'd assume that they should be leaderboards for glitchy speed runs and legit non cheating speed runs. I get the reasoning behind exploiting a game to finish the fastest but skipping through entire regions seems unacceptable to an extent.
I spend more time on one part of one level than you for the entire game. Amazing.

if a game is much anticipated by speedrunners they'll start routing it the day it comes out. I remember back when Dark Souls 3 came out in Japan back in march, qttsix and Distortion immediately started their routing and they both set world records one after another from day 2 onwards. I can imagine the same thing happened to Bloodborne and previous Souls games.
Too bad Doom has many level degisn oversight, giving a reason for oblivious people to hate on :-s
I love that he's like "Service elevator at the end of the hallway" and about before I imagine he is thinking about his next step, he sees you outside the window just leaping across the chasm like it's nothing. Affinity for guns indeed.

I really love what you do in this speedrun. The most recent ones all glitch jump whole map, I just like watching people shoot stuff in cool manner. I mean, when I am eating, rest of the time I do it myself :)

If you jump up on the boxes at 17:50 you can actually jump up on the pipes, jump across to the ledge on the wall and get the blue key right away and then take the back entrance to the yellow key area in order to skip a fairly large portion of the map.
I'm guessing an Ultra Nightmare run will be inevitable, after you've optimized everything. Game's life only been a week after all.
+RazorPhoenix7 Yup, I'll start doing Ultra-Nightmare attempts once I've gotten a better time on Nightmare. This run is pretty much proof that it's possible with this route since I only died once to a boss in a silly manner.

On the game's release I found that Gauss Jump location at 47:41 and at the time I was and still am surprised that the devs could overlook the potential exploitation of the particular map design let alone allow you to pull yourself over the ledge.
Sweet run and I gotta say that double Gauss jump at 52:02 is SICK! :D

If you still wonder, remember Doom 3 expansion where you were left in Hell after killing Betruger. Well apparently Bethesda revealed Doom 4 plays a hundered years later and you were found in a coffin, probably done by the demons who caught you, but seriously i do not know how the marine got in there.

what's happening, when the video skips, the time changes backward and you make progress? at 42 minutes on the timer, you suddenly drop to 41:20 or so and are further in the game? did you restart the level or something, and retry?

Watching this in 720p from a windows tablet (atom z3740 cpu), it overheated and I encountered freezes (because of thermal throttling) after 23 minutes of this video.
