- This is footage shot in and around Grimsby during the summer months of 2011 using the Panasonic HPX171.Edited to the brilliant track Shake of the Ghosts (extended version) by Simple Minds.I do believe that NO video/film can do this track any justice but i did my best.

one of the best instrumental tracks ever produced. Say that a die hard Simple Minds fan said this
First heard this back in 1984 when I was 24 years old. I'm now 63, still listening to it and thinking, wow! What an amazing band Simple Minds were and still are. Saw them in Dublin last year and was blown away. Reminiscing and thinking how quick those 39 years have passed. Also, thinking about family, friends, and former colleagues, some who are no longer with us.
Still shaking off the ghosts... Life goes on. Peace from South Africa.

This song is absolutely beautiful. I cry many times when I listen to it. I bought the Sparkle In The Rain album the day it was released in 1984. I fly turbine helicopters as a profession and have my comms system loaded with Simple Minds. Everyone always titled this band as being New Wave. But their music is also a great representation of Dreampop and Shoegazer genres. I was born in Ireland and had the honor of seeing them in Irie, Scotland, England and the US. This song takes me to the mid to 1980's when I had just married a man; but met the most beautiful woman of my dreams....I had dreamt of her hundreds of times prior to finally meeting her. I was stationed in WIESBADEN west Germany; and she literally took my breath away. It was such a blessed time but also a time to make the biggest decision of my life. I wouldn't trade the pain for all of the money in the world. I lost both of them. God bless and keep them both...

Such a great track and seldom heard live which is such a pity. The best emotion track they have ever done and in a place on the video where I worked on the docks. Guys, are play it live. Cannot get tickets or afford to see you if at the NEC but just to see it from someone with mental issues on DVD would be out of this world. One can hope and dream I suppose. I play it on my Korg Synth all the time.

I love what you've done with this! The song came on my iPod earlier and took me back, as always, to a certain time when I often listened to Sparkle in the Rain while walking in the countryside near my home, lovesick for a certain girl haha, and almost meditatively taking in my surroundings and the music. I've always loved the way music and images can go together in a kind of abstract, indescribable way like this, and this track, being pretty cinematic in scope, does that job perfectly, as do your wonderful images! I love your use of various techniques, your editing, the contrast between the colour and B&W - brilliant! You took me back, but also inside, to that certain peaceful, energised place in my mind. Thank you :)

Hello Albnel. Today, I was in an urgent need to "Shake off the Ghosts" so I entered TH-cam. Thanks Goodness my eyes slipped on the extended version video.....your video SIR. I was totally blown away by the sheer beauty of your imagines. I love the colour, the light and the atmosphere. You did an amazing job. The contrast between the purity of the nature and dirtiness of the town is just fascinating. I spent the whole evening by watching your video. Like ive mentioned on other comments I actually didn't set out to make a video to this piece of music but id shot loads of footage and wanted to do something with it. Some of the footage I believe could have been better, However put this piece of music to anything and it would come to life.Tnx for watching.
Decided I'd love to hear again a track that used to be one of my favourites to turn up load and switch the lights off and lose the world for a while. Your video really caught my gaze and worked well with the music. Very nice work.

Hi. Tnx for your comment. Its one of my favorite Simple Minds track also. Shake off the ghosts is the last track on the album Sparkle in the rain, but doesnt exist anywhere else. There is a small 2 minute remixed segment on the the 12" of Speed your love to me. I took that and edited it to the album version Creating this longer version. Hope this helps.
