ONCE UPON A TIME is a good window (a masterpiece from 1985). The first 5 albums are fascinating, but not a very easy approach (masterpieces too)

I listened to this song for the first time last night. I am a fan since 1981 from USA, SF Bay Area. We had a night club that was famous from about 1981-1986, called Stargaze in Fremont, California. Simple Minds were the only band that had their picture on wall as you entered Stargaze and the only band that had one special night dedicated to their music.
I love this new song. It’s stuck in my head. Charlie’s guitar riffs are as infectious as ever and love the lyrics and the positive energy of the song and the band. Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼

Simple Minds are a phenomenal band. I love their dreamy lyrics and melodies had a crush on Jim. Me and my Walkman got me to school and work. I am so happy I was in High School from 82-86. I remember the Stargaze also. It had that big silver statue (Angel?) I think. We went in the last 20 min to dance. Remember the Quake (Rock of the 80s) radio station? They played Progressive Rock. We had so many eclectic groups back then.
I saw Simple Minds in LV in 2018 for the first time ever. I was two rows away from the stage. I was so stoked, it was memorable and exciting evening. Stay cool.
I’ve been buying Simple Minds records since 1980. I’m looking forward to this album so much. Brilliant songs.

It's the antique amphitheatre in Taormina, Sicily, built by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC. I was there this summer - stunning indeed.
Jim’s Villa Angela just up the road - looks a nice place to stay.

Good song. Good melody. Definitely, a new heroic anthem for live concerts. Jim Kerr's voice and Charlie Burchill's guitars to the top. Good heavy bass from Ged Grimes. Catching up with their roots for success based on the historical Kerr/Burchill nucleus. I cross my fingers for the album to contain more tracks like this one. This is what the sound of the Minds should be about. Apparently, Mel Gaynor left the band, sadly. But the girl behind the drums takes her mission seriously! No loss in frequency. I only hope one day to see the whole historical band line-up back on the blocks on CD and on stage with Mick Mac Neil, Derek Forbes, and Mel Gaynor. Just once.

Sounds nothing like once upon a time but as good as we can expect without MacNeil, Forbes and Gaynor.
@@MrChippiechappie I think if I didn't know Once Upon a Time and someone put First You Jump between Alive and Kicking and Jungleland, I wouldn't have realized that this song wasn't from that album. Without MacNeil, Forbes and Gaynor, there was created also some fantastic tracks, such as Banging on the Door, Hypnotised, Tears of a Guy, War Babies, Kiss & Fly, Spirited Away. The latter song sounds like straight out of Street Fighting Years

This hits harder than Vision Thing, although it's also a sort of rhythmic cousin. For some reason this is also the first time in years that the current Minds line-up has nailed an instant retro classic style. Cherisse has finally become the heir to Mel (and I love Mel). Berenice has mastered the art of Professor Gillespie. The only thing that still seems a question without answer is "so, what exactly is Gordy doing there?" He just honestly seems surplus to requirements sonically whenever Jim and Charlie strike up the big electro sound. Go Sarah.
One more rare song , a Masterpiece. I actually never had any favorite album or song . I just love them all . Magic is back again . I can’t wait to be able to attend a Gig .
