What this channel does better than almost any other is display wide variety of cultural cuisines that would otherwise fly under the radar, giving them the exposure and appreciation they deserve. Great job!
This is really the best TH-cam channel when it comes to showcasing NYC food … you show places nobody else shows (REAL local spots), and I find myself writing down more of your suggestions than any other channel
Typed "best eats in Queens NYC" and this video popped up. Will definitely go to Bolivian Llama Party for dinner. I'll try the other 3 spots in the next days to come =)
I live in Queens, the food is absolutely 1 of the main benefits of living here ) I recently had the pleasure of eating at Kasbah Cafe, & it was wonderful !
I am so glad I found your channel. I want badly to visit New York, but because of my health, I won't able to. Every single day, I get on TH-cam and watch videos of people walking through New York, and I watch your videos. I love all the diversity in food.. oh my goodness, I get so hungry watching, lol. Thanks for what you do !
I was never even in Queens when I moved there in 1999 to escape the rent of Manhattan. Little did I know I was moving into the best and cheapest ethnic food in all of NYC. Walk from Sunnyside on Roosevelt Ave and walk the entire way to Jackson Heights and beyond. Explore. When I go back to NYC to visit (in PA now), I hit Queens more so than Manhattan.
Thank you for highlighting Sunnyside! We do, in fact eat Souk multiple times a week! All the places you showed are amazing and the people who work there are even more amazing. Try Bajeko on queens blvd next time you’re here for incredible Nepal food. Love your videos and love Queens ❤
That was a fantastic food review video Jon. The variety of cuisine you showed was off the charts. Bolivian, Lebanese, Algerian and Romanian. Who would have thought. No one does NYC Food reviews like you. The best. Not my type of food but still interesting to see as I am someone who loves cooking and the whole culture around food. I am sure these communities will have appreciated you highlighting their cuisines.
Thanks for featuring sunnyside! I was born here but moved to Astoria and was not familiar with all these places besides Bolivian Llama party. Thanks for showcasing the real neighborhood places not just the ones all the foodies go to!! Def will check these out now that its getting warmer out
Yesterday I had Kasbah cafe (ordered the chicken platter and Selecto soda) and Nita’s European Bakery (ordered the cheese paturi, Amandina and cheese danish). All amazing. The people at both places were very nice. I did Greg’s tour last year (John, thank you for advertising his tours in your videos!) and have been in contact with him via e-mail. He recommended I add Philomena’s Pizza when I go to Sunnyside. All I can say is, like John, he sure knows good food. I ordered the Margarita square and plain cheese slice and it was one of the best pizzas’s i have ever had in Queens. To top it off Greg was there eating dinner and introduced me to the owner. I am doing Greg’s tour again today and am looking forward to what is in store.
Thanks Jon, I learn something new from each video. This was so eye opening on all the different foods & cultures. I appreciate the time you take explaining the ingredients & tastes. Great job.❤
I just had that chicken shawarma sandwich. You are NOT kidding. That was the BEST chicken shawarma sandwich I have ever had. Granted the only ones I ever had were in Shelby Township, Michigan and NOT Dearborn, Michigan.
@HereBeBarr Mo 👵🏼 in the back 🤣 . Now thats a good eating place 😢 sorry that dude lost his first 2 shops but atlease he's back now. I would certainly eat there without a doubt my dude 👍🏼. Madd good spots indeed bro 👦🏻😃.
As a turkish american who lives in nj for 30 plus years now this bought lots of joy and happiness to me, and great new places marked down to visit next time im in NY 👍
I am romanian and I heard the reason there is so much rum flavour in our sweets (also in others that are not here) is that in communist times we had a good relation with cuba, who was also communist, and it was used to hide the lack of real chocolate flavor that was missing because of bad economy lol. But it remained a flavor even to this day and i like it.
Very nice and very familiar since I’m originally Moldovan pretty similar to Romania used to be part of it at one point and wife is Moroccan. Just some fun info - Algerian food is part of Maghreb cuisine which included also Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. Which version better depends on the opinion 😀 As for shawarma Lebanon prob has one of the best and one difference from others they make their own special bread for it. And cozonac is actually bread for Easter 😀 There also used to be Moldovan restaurant for many years in Sunnyside but gone long back. Think only remain one in Brooklyn.
So, watched the video so i had to see if i had Bolivian in Chicago. One place in burbs and i went there and loved it. That’s why i like TH-cam….open the mind and tongue to new cuisines. Alices Corner Bolivian Cuisine.
Could you make a video of the best places where you can sing on a stage? (Open mic and karaoke bars). I'd love to sing in front of an american audience during my time in NYC next year. EDIT : it's weird there's an answer but I can't see it
I'm planning on moving to Queens From Ireland. I'm 22 and I work in warehouses. Id love some community advice on good places and places not to be. I'll be going on a work visa, as I'll apply for a job beforehand.
So, I guess if I want the full NYC experience I have to stay two months in order to eat at all of the places you have shown us! Ugh! Alright... I am in..............
Hi Jon, can you PLEASE start using on screen labels for the current place you're at?! Many times you only say the restaurant name once and I have dig back through the video 😔
Couldn't you please STOP this underlying music??? It's in every of your videos and it diminishes the joy of watching them tremendously as i can hardly understand what is said anymore!!! We don't need this "disturbance" i would call it rather than "music".
Food prices are just as high as the rent. This guy has a lot of money, so he is living the good life in NYC. But be careful. Crime is out of control in NYC.
@@westie430 Most places have high food prices. There are small exceptions. The portion size can be very small. He pays high rent, so whatever he does, whether TH-cam or other things, he still makes a lot of money!
@@user-ux8hg8bk3e it's all relative however. You make good money there, yes, but then it all goes to rent/mortgage, taxes, other bills...so again, I doubt he's some crazy millionaire. Also smaller portion sizes are OK. Really. You don't see many overweight New Yorkers for a reason. Yes some of the food is spendy there, but it's also amazingly delicious, so I'm ok with that usually. 🤷🏻♀️
I did not expect Romania to be represented. I am Romanian.I am glad you liked our pastries/sweets. Thank you, Jon!
So good!
Sunnyside has had Romanian restaurants as well. Romanian Garden is a longstanding local.
I LOVE nita's!!

I love the single neighborhood eating tours! Mas, por favor!

Do it
You have once again unlocked some New York food magic and made me miss the Queens I grew up in. Thanks John. Well done n thank you again

Planning an 'eating' visit for late summer after 2+ years away. Still the best NYC channel ever Jon.
I can't wait to try this!!!! Plus Sunnyside is cool!
Another great video Jon. Your channel is my go to every time I visit NY. Could you do a video on best vegetarian and vegan spots in NY?
Thank you for showing sunny side some love ❤️ my home town
Thank you, Jon! My age and health keep me away, but I so enjoy vicariously visiting these places. Keep up the great work! ❤
Hope you're feeling better!
@@HereBeBarr I'm doing okay, thanks!
Excellent food tour. Will visit some of those places.
I LOVE Bolivian Llama Party. I'll definitely try the other places too
Wow that food looks absolutely amazing 😮😍
Bolivian Llama Party is great. The peanut soup with brisket and truffle fries is ANAZING.

Very nice selection of places to eat
Nobody enjoys their food more than Jon. I need to take another food trip into Queens soon.
The Algerian food is actually making my mouth water. I didn’t know that was even a thing.
Jon: Next time you go to Souk Al Shater you should try the Lebanese meat pies, they are DELICIOUS!!!
I love these spots Jon. Need to go so these spots. 🤤
Seriously, all of it looks delicious!
Can’t wait for your videos (?episodes) to be on SBS Food

Maybe do a Passover food video in NYC. Passover starts on the 22nd of April.
Everything "It's very good" lol
Hi Brazil ❤🎉
🙏🙏🙏
Used to be a good all round NY channel. Now it's all about food. Jeez, no other city has food choices.
It still is, but NYC has all the food options and we all gotta eat. Why eat McDonald's when you can have this.
Don't know why you're complaining
thats a cornish pasty
Looks like a Cornish pasty

It's not street food if you buy it inside
