Can you just install a snow bar on a portion of a metal roof? The roof in question is on a pole barn type building and the snow sliding off the roof is not an issue except the area where there is a 5' double door. Will it work to install the bar system just above this area (5' - 6').

We here at S-5! actually don't recommend putting a snow bar over just a portion of a roof. Check out this article on our Support Center and Knowledge base to find out while:

Does snow guard causes an increase in the load of snow?

Most building are designed and engineered to withstand the snow load for the area regardless if snow retention is part of the original design or not because even without snow retention you never know how long the snow will stay on the roof on its own or how much will come off when it does slide off. With any installation we recommend that the system be properly engineered to the roof using our Snow Calculator at www.S-5.com.
