Nowadays I just enjoy playing games solo. When I hear certain buzzwords about games I avoid them now thanks to NBA 2k. I got all that storage back and now I have plenty of gaming options on my ps5. Once u deleted 2k you realize how many games you missed out on..
They need to have it like 2k14 where you click where you wanna enter or start off at. The nba game or the park etc . Saves a lot of loading screens and time

I quit 2k like five years ago. And the only reason I got 22 and 23 was when they offered them for free. And I still barely played. This game is so flawed and riddled with microtransactions, it's essentially unplayable. Even at the current sales price of $7, I wouldn't purchase 2k24.

MYTEAM is the most predatory mode in all of sports gaming. They stopped trying to please the audience once competitors died off and now they’re just doing whatever they want. They know hoops fans have nowhere else to go and now they’re exploiting the same people that helped them claim their spot in the industry. This has been my favorite franchise since my Dreamcast days and it’s finally time to hang it up.

I turned 44 this month and I've been playing basketball games since I was 12 year old arcade to starting with NBA Live and then Sega Dreamcast and 2K. I'm thinking of trying something new as I've been hooked on 2K since I bought 2K25 to add to my collection of games. However, I'm not happy with the direction 2K is taking with the new generation, it's crazy. While I don't mind some virtual currency, the way they're implementing it is a bit too much. I enjoy competing with the younger generation and I hope EA's NBA Live makes a comeback to give 2K some competition. I've been hearing good things about some indie basketball games that focus more on gameplay rather than microtransactions. Maybe I'll give those a try and see if they can provide the same level of excitement and competition that I've been missing. It's always good to keep an open mind and explore new options. Who knows, maybe I'll discover a hidden gem that will reignite my love for basketball gaming. It's all about finding the right balance between fun and fair play. Let's see what the future holds for basketball gaming!
At the end of the day it’s a choice, ppl choose to spend money on things in the game. You can either run fast or slow, 2k didn’t tell you to rush to become a 99 overall it’s the ppls choice to buy the goofy clothes and everything else. I remember I paid 5$ for 5,000 vc back on 2k15 or 16. It took some thought but I realized why wouldn’t they just move the prices up over the years since they didn’t have competition (nba live wasn’t how it used to be back then). Stopped playing officially by 2k20 seeing that the prices were increasing year after year. I only play once they put it on PlayStation plus. I couldn’t care less about FOMO.
I stop playing back in 2k17 since i start to noticing this BS that everything is around VC and they starting to get greedy!!! I found surprising how many people just fall soo easy for it!! When you know how difficult is to make money or your own and start playing this shit!! You don't even want to be spend a minute of it

Only game I can think of (that I play) that doesn’t do this, other than a battle pass. Rocket league, free to play, no upgrades, or pay to win advantages. A few different hitboxes for some paid licensed cars, however they aren’t better than the starting cars hit boxes (Octane, Dominus)

2K is the greediest corporation I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t even think any video game company can top how ridiculous this game is. $70 base game, $20 battle pass, $100 myplayer build, and that’s just to get started.

The love of basketball will always draw people to 2K or any sports game. It is understandable to still want to play. Not sure who will read but if want to still play 2K…maybe wait until it hits the game pass or is half the price. You will likely be at the same competitive advantage if you play it in September vs January. 2K25 (I hope) will be the year of declining sales, declining micro transactions, and the increase of people leaving the community. One of the reason why they added the city is to not make a b ball game look the same and they can just add more stuff to it. If they just make a b ball game just for b ball they would have to come out every other year or even more just to work on the graphics and gameplay while also losing money.

I turned 44 this month and I've been playing basketball games since I was 12 year old arcade to starting with NBA Live and then Sega Dreamcast and 2K. I'm thinking of trying something new as I've been hooked on 2K since I bought 2K25 to add to my collection of games. However, I'm not happy with the direction 2K is taking with the new generation, it's crazy. While I don't mind some virtual currency, the way they're implementing it is a bit too much. I enjoy competing with the younger generation and I hope EA's NBA Live makes a comeback to give 2K some competition.
I've been hearing good things about some indie basketball games that focus more on gameplay rather than microtransactions. Maybe I'll give those a try and see if they can provide the same level of excitement and competition that I've been missing. It's always good to keep an open mind and explore new options. Who knows, maybe I'll discover a hidden gem that will reignite my love for basketball gaming. It's all about finding the right balance between fun and fair play. At the end of the day it’s a choice, ppl choose to spend money on things in the game. You can either run fast or slow, 2k didn’t tell you to rush to become a 99 overall it’s the ppls choice to buy the goofy clothes and everything else. Can’t get mad at company for trying to make money,get mad at the person in the mirror that’s opening their wallet just to rush the process trying to be like the next idiot.
I remember I paid 5$ for 5,000 vc back on 2k15 or 16. It took some thought but I realized why wouldn’t they just move the prices up over the years since they didn’t have competition (nba live wasn’t how it used to be back then). Stopped playing officially by 2k20 seeing that the prices were increasing year after year. I only play once they put it on PlayStation plus. I couldn’t care less about FOMO.
I stop playing back in 2k17 since i start to noticing this BS that everything is around VC and they starting to get greedy!!! I found surprising how many people just fall soo easy for it!!

What these companies don’t realize is if they make an actual good game, they will make more money from the micro transactions without even having to try.
This has been going on for years. Not just through video games but through outlets such as advertisements in many medias, now also in the form of social media and gaming. 2K is just on that money train of greed and they won't stop until WE do.
I think the reasoning behind all this garbage is they don't have the confidence to build a really fun game anymore year round and would rather try ways to insure there own wallets rather than the players happiness

Only game I can think of (that I play) that doesn’t do this, other than a battle pass. Rocket league, free to play, no upgrades, or pay to win advantages. A few different hitboxes for some paid licensed cars, however they aren’t better than the starting cars hit boxes (Octane, Dominus)

Spending money you don't have or excessive amounts on something that doesn't invest in you significantly in life is a bigger issue then the game.
