I definitely found the opposite to be true for me, DRL feels like there is not enough gravity for the weight of their drones, where as liftoff flies exactly like my drone in real life!
I paid like 4 bucks for FREERIDER and I use my Xbox controller on my phone. It has absolutely helped and given me confidence. The meddow is my favorite. This also has a race track generator if you click on the circle next to the map selection
Sorry to tell you guys but its nothing like an xbox controller.. Teaching yourself incorrect mussel memory from the start.. Buy a proper radio controller
I fly all three SIMS, my go to is Freerider because it feels more real than the others to me. Liftoffs feels like the quad it on skates and not locked in, DRL feels too robotic. Freerider seems to be the most real feeling. None are perfect but Freerider is closer to how my drone feels in the sky.
Oh man, glad I'm not the only one who found liftoff "slippery". Liftoff is the only Sim I've tried, and coming solely from DJI's heavily assisted UAV's I was kind of surprised at how badly I was at completing even the most basic maneuvers.
I'm new here and I was very relieved when it turned out you don't always do the "Monster Garage" voice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mac? Well there's your problem! The control setup on Freerider is so bassackwards, I would never have figured it out if there hadn't been step by step instructions available. And if I recall correctly, it required such odd changes on the radio end, I had to give Freerider it's own model. FPV Air 2 is cheap and the graphics are not good, but it flies like a dream for what I like. Handled like a scalpel and runs well on meh computers. Liftoff is my favorite, but DRL, DCL and Velocidrone all are good.
Thank you for making this. Those are my options as well. I think we can get a lot with liftoff and DRL since we will always train or warm up in simulator
This is a fantastic video, thanks man. I started a week ago learning FPV and coincidentally got those exact 3 simulators and even so early on my experience with these three sims were the same. I learned a lot from this video. I struggled myself to death learning the basic turns in Lift Off, it being so drifty and slippery. It was very discouraging, then I tried DRL and there you go, I am actually getting to do cinematic freestyle motions. Having someone as experienced as you resonate that experience was validating and inspiring. Thank you for the good work, man 💪.
I know this is an old video man, I'm late on the technology and the whole acro drone flying world but, freerider has helped me a lot. I just use what works but these videos are helping me make my decision on an updated simulator. I like freerider just for the plain fact of hitting reset and learning from mistakes. I can easily get bored with graphics and only 6 levels, so the other 2 are a great choice for me to keep it fresh. Thanks.
I used freerider on my phone with touch contrels. Many will hate. I picked up the controller and flew like a champ i flew for 4min flipping rolling shooting gaps... Physics dont really matter you will get used to that but motorics are important to figure out where to move the stick.
I prefer velocidrone myself. In the other sims they feel very floaty and have virtually no drift. Ex=Fly straight forward then 180 yaw spin into a backwards path. All sims but velocidrone stop the quad in its tracks or doesn't drift like a real drone. In velocidrone it's as close to realistic as possible so when you do spin it'll continue to maintain its momentum n fly backwards without pushing it.
Nice 👍 I have velocidrone too. And also liftoff I do rewinds with liftoff and it does flow back pretty good they have done updates so who knows. But will try to compare with velocidrone to see which feels best.
The reason Liftoff rates and PID’s feel different in real life is because Liftoff is still emulating a super old version of betalflight (like 3.6 or something). 4.X has changed so much of how the quad works and how PID’s and filtering works that it’s not the same anymore
Thanks for this, I was literally on the verge of all of these. I will likely end up with them all but upon your suggestion and I consider it a bad,I’d one I will start with the dry one. Great vidya!
Hi, thanks for the video. Your video helped me to choose my favorite app. I also go for DRL. However, it doesn’t recognize my flysky i6. How did you manage to run the app with flysky?
On Free Rider your rates are too low for that quad size I think and you have to increase the gravity to at least 58 to get the "real" feel .. mine are Pitch/Roll 1003 Yaw 903 Throttle 90 and I add a little bit more of Expo ..I never flew a real quad yet (hard to get some parts in my country because of drone restrictions but I'm working on it) ..I'm having fun practicing and getting better each day ..for real I'm obsessed with everything related to FPR quads universe very amazed by the cinematic possibilities
Which sims comes with a radio/transmitter and/or able to use your own. I’m new and don’t have a transmitter yet so probably need a simm with transmitter but I’m planning on purchasing a Radio Master TX 16S master which I believe is a good to great transmitter in my $180-$250 price range. In short not looking for a game per say I’m looking to learn real time real flight with real transmitter. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO AND YOUR TIME
My rates are not locked or bound together in Liftoff. You can change all the rates, Super, and RC independently. You can't change max rate which is just a math calculation.. Uncrashed FPV Sim and AI Drone Simulator are the two best.
What's the benefit of running different rates for pitch and roll? I run the same rates across the board because IMO if I go full stick on any axis I want the same rate of rotation and having different rates on the different axes seems like making it 3 times as difficult at best to build the muscle memory to do precise rotations around all axes. 🤔
Good question! It's very much personal preference. For my flying, I prefer having more stick resolution on the pitch axis, so I use lower rates for pitch. Also, I don't like flipping as fast as rolling.
I practice on Freerider recharded by connecting my remote to a mobile phone, do you know if there is another mobile phone simulator that supports connecting a remote control to a mobile phone as an option on Freeridere? Unfortunately Velocidrone and others are not available on Trg Play, and i do not have a stron PC to play simulators on my Laptop,so my onley option is mobile apps?Thnx
Thank you this was very helpful I went with DRL last night and already put 2hrs on it! It's awesome and even runs really well on a crappy laptop with low frame rates 40fps it's still very flyable!! So impressed can tell for sure I will be able to work on perfecting maneuvers I was too timid to try in real life flight while in fpv. I'm a long time line of sight pilot so pulling off fpv moves is a real challenge! Lol I even get queezy after a bit of fpv whether in real world or on the sim, it really sucks but I refuse to be deterred!
Pleased to hear that some think the same of Lift Off as I do. I'm a beginner and tried Lift Off first.. It's really difficult for me. I have never even managed a complete lap of Bardwell's Yard, and I've often thought to myself, "I'll never be able to do this!!!". Now I've given DRL a bash I'm happier. I can fly around ok and even make some gates and complete laps of the easier courses. Why is Lift Off so different?
I never could get the FPV Freerider to recognize my FlySky radio. I did the weekend free trial of Liftoff last month and purchased it at the discount price. Just getting started in FPV and knew a simulator would be a better way to start. Thanks for the quick DRL tour, I have been thinking about it. @@fitchyyboi Thanks. That's what I have been working with. Strange thing is it works with the supplied cable in LiftOff, DRL Sim, and two others, just not with FPV Freerider. But open to suggestions for modified cables.
Johnny J I picked up a "GoolRC Flysky SM100 USB" on Amazon for 15$ and it works like an absolute dream. I recommend you make a new profile on your transmitter aswell :)
It would be cool if they'd put just a sound effect into DRL just to notice you that you made a mistake and hit something. I guess it could be good for real life flying
DRL seems fun, I bought it but the default settings are awful. The roll stick feels so god damn slow I can barely do 360 sometimes. What's the way to fix this.
I wonder if the EMAX EZ Pilot controller will work on the sims? Probably not. I hope my laptop will run them. 8th gen Core i7, 8gb RAM but the intel onboard graphics. If not I'll just crash the EMAX until I figure it out or break it beyond repair.
I'm an old time flyer and have built and flown many quads LOS. I also fly fan jets and helis. FPV has always attracted me and wanted to learn to fly it. Tried Velocidrone, Liftoff, RF8 and several others. IMHO DRL has them all beat in all aspects. Excellent software all around and guess what...........I'm actually learning to fly FPV and having an absolute blast. DRL detected my transmitters with no problem, the graphics are beautiful, tha handling of the quad is accurate. I really can't give this sim a bad review. Currently, it can't be beat for terms of sheer fun and price. Good review BTW.
How can I do that, because I once tried to fly my drone it almost got lost in the sky and forced a heavy crush on the ground but only the battery got damaged, it was my first try I'm afraid I will loose it the second try. So I want to learn on the simulator but I don't know how I can know if my drone settings are the same as my simulator because I got it completely made from the factory which they did everything for me, Is there a way or a software I can read the default settings of my flysky fs-i6 controller made by the factory? Which will enable me to realise how to adjust the settings on these simulators to match equivalent to my drone/controller. Please I need your advice I'm new to these.
No, but you do have to change setting in beta flight. I was able to use mine on velocidrone, just took a little tweaking. Don't remember exactly what needed to be changed, as I have been using a different controller for a bit now
idk why you couldnt change your rates and stuff normally but i could and i didnt have to mess with anything to be able to... you really leaned hard into the fact that you couldnt change your rates properly but that was user error in some way not the app... and sliding in the simulator is good because it teaches you to control your own inertia so i think liftoff is better tbh... plus the graphics
One very good simulator that noone seems to mention is DCL i play on ps5 with the psvr headset and its amazing. Liftoff on ps4/5 is also amazing. DCL to me feels better for freestyle but liftoff is more fun and has a very videogamey story mode which is aloooot of fun virtualy hanging out with @joshuabardwell (if you get DCL the best use to me is just to go into freeflight mode and rip around , i love speed but dont care about racing others) USE THE VR HEADSET IF YA GOT IT!
I wish I get a recording of your flight data of motions and then see a widget showing me what I'm doing and what you're doing kind of like a trainer mode
For fsi6: SM100 cable. For fsi6X (with 2019 firmware) you can use the "update" data cable that is usually included with the transmitter. For the i6S, a common USB to microUSB cable works.

RCwithAdam I use the USB out on all my simulators. It's so much smoother. (I had that pink stick cheap one and flew planes on it.) I just got my first real quad/drone built and everything calibrated. I put my ESC in upside down but fixed in beta flight before I broke anything.. I wanted the best simulator to practice . I don't know if Realflight 8s "drones" were realistic. I'm loving the simulators you suggested. Thank you for the video and reply. Subscribing. =]
Hi! 2019 Macbook Pro. That's a very good point! One thing I failed to mention is that the DRL sim takes up about 3GB, while Liftoff takes about 16GB!! 😲
I build my own gaming rigs so lift off wins, I can't deal with the potato graphics of the other sims, but I'm getting bored of the maps so I might give the others a shot. What are your thoughts on velociradrone or whatever it's called?
@@RCwithAdam1 yeah it's nice, I gave drl a shot, but man that racer 4 is a boat! Graphics aren't terrible from what I've seen so far, but I still like liftoff more lol, gonna give velocidrone a try in a week or so, I think I'll pass on free rider though
@@DaffyDubzFPV Have you tried the latest DCL release? Only relevant if you're into freestyle really, but man it looks polished in the graphics department. Might be fun on a good gaming setup.

Great video 👍 hint hint most sims real good to learn.. I own most all of them.. the thing is they keep constantly updating them so maybe one that u may note like suddenly feels better after an update I did velocidrone for many months then went to liftoff after an update feels very good now, but now I saw yesterday there's another big update for DRL man am gonna have to get more hard drives lolol.. my advice just get all of the sims they really not expensive. Blimbs are Magic. Made me lol
DRL purchased. Thank you
Blimps ARE magic! lol thanks! 😄
Can you use your own controller? I have the tiny hawk 2 freestyle . Do you have to buy a controller to use these simulators?
No, but you do have to change setting in beta flight. I was able to use mine on velocidrone, just took a little tweaking. Don't remember exactly what needed to be changed, as I have been using a different controller for a bit now
can you use a x box controler
Yes, but I haven't tried it myself yet.
idk why you couldnt change your rates and stuff normally but i could and i didnt have to mess with anything to be able to... you really leaned hard into the fact that you couldnt change your rates properly but that was user error in some way not the app... and sliding in the simulator is good because it teaches you to control your own inertia so i think liftoff is better tbh... plus the graphics
Can you please do another one with velocidrone instead of freerider? I wanna get into it and I'm in between drl and velocidrone.
Yes! I've been wanting to try that!
@@RCwithAdam1 cool!
One very good simulator that noone seems to mention is DCL i play on ps5 with the psvr headset and its amazing. Liftoff on ps4/5 is also amazing. DCL to me feels better for freestyle but liftoff is more fun and has a very videogamey story mode which is aloooot of fun virtualy hanging out with @joshuabardwell (if you get DCL the best use to me is just to go into freeflight mode and rip around , i love speed but dont care about racing others) USE THE VR HEADSET IF YA GOT IT!
can i use with dji mavic pro controller?
I don't have a DJI, controller, but if it has a USB input/output I think it would.
Uncrashed is kinda nice fun too.
Would normal xbox one controller work for simulation or you need an actual RC remote?
It works. I used an xbox controller before I got my transmitter.
I wish I get a recording of your flight data of motions and then see a widget showing me what I'm doing and what you're doing kind of like a trainer mode
Liftoff has tutorials that show josh bardwells inputs, that was the thing that clicked in for me to truely understand acro flying (in simulation)
So in real life its easier compared to the games?
I use Drl and velocidrone but since dcl came out just been on that
I'll have to try out that dcl.
anything you use is best 🤩🤩
has anyone tried DRL simulator with literadio 3 PRO on MacBook? Did ot work just fine?
A 'nuts and bolts' video of CABLES necessary, differences in cabling/ dongle. or, HOW DO YOU PHYSICALLY HOOK IT UP? (flysky sm 100 (?) )
For fsi6: SM100 cable.
For fsi6X (with 2019 firmware) you can use the "update" data cable that is usually included with the transmitter.
For the i6S, a common USB to microUSB cable works.
@@RCwithAdam1 Thank you! So new to the sport I'm still wet!
21:59: DJI FPV has entered the chat
Thanks man subbed
Thank you!👍
HELLO, i'm from korea,13 years old. i have flown tiinyhowck miny fpv drone .I fly it quite well. i have eachine goggle and X7 tranis controlor .
i have a question. can all of sim which you recommended in this vedio be connected with X7?
i think so
TX16S Hall effects gimbles. Changed my life.
I have some as well and they are very nice 👌
RCwithAdam I use the USB out on all my simulators. It's so much smoother. (I had that pink stick cheap one and flew planes on it.)
I just got my first real quad/drone built and everything calibrated. I put my ESC in upside down but fixed in beta flight before I broke anything..
I wanted the best simulator to practice . I don't know if Realflight 8s "drones" were realistic. I'm loving the simulators you suggested. Thank you for the video and reply. Subscribing. =]
Does DJI remote work with usb C in DRL? Thanks
Hi! I don't have one, so I can't really say.
Work
Definitely recommend freerider recharged - better graphics, bigger maps custom levels!
thanks for the recommendations.
Which Mac do you have? I have a Mac mini (late 2012) with maxed out memory. Hate to buy something I can't fly.
Great vid!
Hi! 2019 Macbook Pro. That's a very good point! One thing I failed to mention is that the DRL sim takes up about 3GB, while Liftoff takes about 16GB!! 😲
Y learn to fly on the free version of freerider
I build my own gaming rigs so lift off wins, I can't deal with the potato graphics of the other sims, but I'm getting bored of the maps so I might give the others a shot. What are your thoughts on velociradrone or whatever it's called?
That's probably a great experience with your own rig! I haven't tried velocidrone yet.
@@RADERFPV yeah they're pretty good, but considering drl bought all the hero 5 sessions in the world I was expecting perfection lol. I'm gonna have to take a look at the custom build options, I like that I can build almost my exact irl build on liftoff, I would imagine drl has the same capability?
@@DaffyDubzFPV I'm not too sure, I've only used Velocidrone up to this point. Looking to give DCL or DRL a try, just based on graphics alone.
As compared to a PSP new game!. Most of the pros keep mentioning velocidrone so there something in that if they keep saying it maybe it's velocidrone #1 liftoff #2 and DRL #3 then again good to have all three since they all keep getting updates
DRL TEAM!
Can DRL Sim be played with a PS4 Controller?
I do
What about dcl the game
I haven't tried it yet, but may have to.
Horrible
What about velocidrone?
I haven't tried velocidrone yet, but probably will since it seems to be pretty popular!
@@RCwithAdam1 drl looks amazing! Wondering how much it weighs... do you have a powerful pc? Dont know if my lenovo could handle this sim
The intro of this video sounds like the bald man (mat Penfield) in the rant limp bizkit intro 😂
bro dont turn graphics down and have 4k enabled
