I was inspired to subscribe to your page because your teachings are the manifestation of my late father’s style. Your videos are also desperately needed in this day and time for the current and younger generations. God bless you ❤
Prof. I religiously watch your videos, and what attracts me to your videos is your attention to detail, your wordsmith about the subject, and above all your dedication to excellence. Please, keep it up. Prof. I would like you to address the issue of age or generational gap with regard to elegant dressing. What was elegant in the 50s is archaic today. And if you became of age in the 50s, today you look at what is called elegant as something weird. Please, teach us or throw some light on how one can bridge the gap of generations, and still look or dress elegant. Thanks
For my perspective, as a 27 year old who also religiously watches Okey's videos (the discord is alright too-lots of edgy "stoic" teenager types tho), it's about appropriate formality for the occasion. Don't wear a suit to see a basketball game at a friends house. However, you can keep the principles of elegance in mind, and wear some well-fitting trousers, perhaps something with an interesting pattern or material. This is a step above jeans, which is what everyone else will be wearing, and a great starting spot. Now for shoes, we can put some chukkas on, and add your favorite basketball team's shirt on top, you're ready! Change the shirt for a button-down, throw a sports coat on, and you've got an outfit that's a step above. It's just about finding your personal style, and finding the best way to express it for each occasion, it's not about wearing a suit all the time or trying to cosplay as Cary Grant. You will not look like Cary Grant, you'll look ridiculous.
Thanks for the lessons, Prof. I see no-one utilizing this age only even Ancient knowledge of balance applied to clothing. I have purchased a wonderful pair of suspenders in anticipation of stepping up to the Ask Okey Trousers. I can hardly wait to rock this style in Atlanta, Ga.
Hello Sir, thank you for this useful video, your style is great and well explained. It seems that you prefer to wear forward pleats rather than reverse. It would be really interesting to have your functional explanation about simple vs double ; forward vs reverse pleats. Best regards.
Just recently that question was asked, and I can remember in the 70's, my grandfather was told me, " one of the most expensive cloths a man purchased is " surge 900, or 700." Is my grandfather correct?
Unfortunately, I think you confuse rule of thirds with the golden ratio. They are close, but not the same. The golden ratio is 0.618, while thirds are 0.666. I think in most cases it would be better to use the golden ratio, because it looks more natural. And it looks like that is what you are using. But as always, great video and fantastic advice
Thank you for this useful illustration Mr. Okey. I have been experimenting with the hem opening circumference since the last 2 years. Initially, like every young guy, I started with a rather slim 14 inch leg opening, and then I gradually increased it with time, and today I wear a 17 inch leg opening. I still think that I can perhaps go a bit fuller. For reference, I am 5'9" and I wear a size 7.5 UK shoe. Is my leg opening proportional, or should I go fuller?
Hi Aziz, I am 6’ 1” and I wear about 20”. All Depending on your shoe size. Regardless of that, I recommend at least 18” to 19” at your height being 5’ 9”. That should give you a nice line. PROFF
ive been wearing suits wrong my whole life, this looks just right. how much space should there be in the crotch area for room to breath, 1 inch 2 inch?
Hey Prof! Love the content! I’m a short guy, 5’7 and wear a 7.5UK shoe. What circumference width do you recommend? Also, would you recommend opting for full lining for the pants?
How tall is Okey? It is hard to disagree with him in this video, but I think for someone tall the proportion should be different. But maybe he is tall, and then I am wrong.
