  • Is a light weight aluminum crank pulley worth it?! Today I install the light weight pulley kit from Z1 motorsports and find out! It looks great, it's affordable and while it wasn't the biggest difference, I do think it made a slight improvement to response.
Here's a link to the kit if you're interested!

Add a few more ground cables from the battery and chassis to engine will definitely help with engine response.

I’ve heard that as well, I was going to add a few when I relocate the battery. Good idea!

I would say your crank pulley is the one thing you WANT weight on because it’s like a damper for your crank. Your crank twists like a spring when combustion happens and if it’s not controlled it can snap under certain rpm’s and load, I’d look at a super damper or fluid damper, but all the other pulleys I’d say are safe to go lightweight

I agree with this to a point. Vqs specifically were designed with really well balanced cranks from factory. It's one of the reasons these engines are rock solid. But it could definetly still cause issues. It would be interesting to see how different pulleys affect the crank on a vq tho!!!

I’ve for sure heard this side of the argument and it makes sense, that’s why I mentioned I’m unsure about longevity at the end of the video. Time will tell if it’s an issue or not!

I’d be worried about it with drifting but not most other motorsports only because it’s high rpm and high load for a long time, plus clutch kicks too, but if you’re willing to risk it and do some experimenting, then I’d say why not lol!

I don’t have this installed but I could imagine it does work ,when you go from dual mass to a lightweight flywheel you can tell the huge difference this should be the same

Do you already have a lightweight flywheel? I assume your tuner already eliminated any throttle lag. Major "foot" pounds of ugga dugga there. I prefer my Milwaukee impact which has never refused to loosen any bolt but you have to pull the radiator, blah, blah, blah.
