Some of these cars had quite subtle differences, especially if you take other countries into account. Great collection of photos.. thank you. cheers 🥂

I'm just old enough to remember the Post Office Morris J type vans lined up outside the station and then getting on a steam train to Manchester.

Interesting, quite amazing how many models there were over that time period.

Love to Google the old company names that are displayed typically on the old vans. Very often, but not always, it's easy to find a reference to these old companies, they would have largely been small family run enterprises. Occasionally, I'll find the odd one that is still in business, which is heartwarming. Thanks for posting.

Back around 1959/60 our family transport was a 1934 Morris Ten Four saloon that Dad received in lieu of cash for some work he had done on a guy's lorries, it also came with a 'parts car'. Us kids thought the 'Ten Four' name was pretty cool because that's what Dan Matthews (Broderick Crawford) used to say on 'Highway Patrol'.

I was interested to see the 1966 Morris Oxford Traveler estate car with the earlier accentuated rear light and fins of the late 50s models, even though the saloon version was revised with more toned down styling from 1961. Did they produce these from the earlier ones because of technical and design factors, do you know? I used to see a lot of these being used by Post Office Telephones, first in olive green and then in bright yellow, when they changed the colour scheme. PV vans were rarer, but I remember having our groceries delivered by the local Co-operative Society in a dark green and black one in the later 50s. There used to be J vans around everywhere in those times, but they seemed to disappear in the early-mid 60s. You can see one being "destroyed" by the Daleks in the mid-60s "Dr Who - Invasion Earth" film.... Waste of a good van I thought, even then...

Thanks for watching, I imagine they didn't want the cost of re-tooling so continued with the earlier style of rear body on the estates. Triumph did the same with the 2000 estate Mk1 & Mk2. A friend is finishing off the restoration of a Morris PV at the moment.
